That would depend on if the Emperor wanted to capture the Citadel or just destroy it. The Sith have destroyed worlds in Star Wars movies and games before. The Citadel's position is fixed, why not fire few unmanned ships at relativistic speeds right down the ward arms of the Citadel? It would blow the whole darn thing apart. You don't even need to fly the Deathstar or the fleet near. Why would they want the Citadel anyways? The Emperor can build a deathstar every five years or so, and they can fly around. The Citadel just sits there in one spot, opens and closes and no one knows how to fix it but the Keepers. Posted Image

I'd just blow it up if I was the Emperor, give me a Deathstar any day!

Just fire the Galaxy Gun at whatever you don't like, be it Mass Relay, Reaper, planet or Citadel and enjoy the fireworks.

Remember that you also have "Use the force Luke" vs. "ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL"

I want to see Necrons fighting Reapers fighting Borg fighting Skynet. :)

Average Mass Effect fleet just isn't advanced enough to stand up against the average Star Wars fleet, though if the Reapers attacked the star Wars galaxy en masse on one of their extinction binges, the Star Wars galaxy would be ****ing doomed.

You do know that Star Wars technology is actually less advanced then Mass Effect technology, right?
I mean what's harder? causing a reaction in gas to excite photons which shoot out at around the speed of sound or chunks of metal accelerated to relativistic speeds?

I'll stick with relativistic speeds and shields that use intense gravity wells to protect the user.

WH40K took skynet/terminators, doused it with nightmare fuel, and then gave them guns that laughed at physics and anything made of matter really. Also H4X.

you need to take into consideration the limitations of mass effect technologies. Though they do have an edge in using instant transportation, anyone can use it. So if the empire were somehow in the galaxy, they could also use the mass effect relays, or they could destroy them, so no one else would be able to use them. But then again, is there even hyperspace routes in the galaxy? These are question that need to be considered. Now would the laser fire be able to be stopped by Kinetic Barriers? I dont think they would be able to, but then again, the imperial ground forces dont have any either, so really would make it an even fight in that regard.

The imperial army has a huge fleet, their star destroyers are massive and they have lots of smaller fighter crafts. Thats assuming they dont have a Death Star.

Its a tough choice, also the Force, how would they deal with that?

Tough choice, seeing both weapons in mass effect are equally as powerful. I think Mass Effect would end up on top though, but with heavy casualties

Yeah but that coin flips the other way. Star Wars fleets, even their fighters, can "jump to light speed" without a gateway. Even if their weapons suck, they can out maneuver the Mass Effect universe fleets. Plus with the Force bs, the jedi could feel the Reapers attacking as soon as one fruit fly on planet Backwater was stepped upon, therefore mobilizing their armies. Plus the whole Star Wars series is one Force Ex Machina event after the next...so Star Wars has magic on it's side.

Damn, this topic is making us all sound like dorks. Posted Image

Correct me if Im wrong, but doesnt anyhting bigger than a fighter have FTL capability?? Relays just make things easy to map out and instantaneous.

Not enough information given. Star wars has an entire expanded universe after all.

So, based solely on the movies:

The Normandy could have run the trade federation blockade with ease using it's stealth systems or completed any death star bombing run undetected so ME gets a clear victory in that regard.

On some specifics: The droid army is vastly inferior to the Geth, and the Quarians would have no trouble with it - even their tanks are automated, so hacking would completely ruin their army. Besides, holographic combat drones are infinitely superior to robots doing the same job solely because one requires no material resources.

On the other hand, the Mako would fail and die utterly in a pod race, and as unlikely as it seems, biotics can't seem to fly or jump ludicrously high, leaving them at a disadvantage in any given lightsaber fight scenario.

Cloning is impressive medical technology, but bringing a man back to life flawlessly is a far greater challenge. On the other hand, the armour in star wars is made of paper mache, meaning that though they may have the numbers, the clone army would be ultimately inferior to ME's characters' shields, armour and barriers. En Masse Lightsabers however would present a problem for a group who only use ranged weaponry. Certain technology like flamethrowers, shotguns and some of ME2's heavy weapons would tear through a Jedi, but an average foot soldier would be taken apart. There'd be no way to deflect a mass accelerated slug though, drastically reducing a Jedi's offensive capabilities versus ranged foes.

Now, the Gary Stu in the Force Unleashed would indeed be more than a match for most, if not everything in the ME universe, but he's a Gary Stu so we won't count him. Darth Vader however would choke and die the moment he tried to fight a Quarian. One Overload would have him down for the count, and at the very least his respirator would fail before the Quarian's own lungs did.

Of course, when fighting things like husks, the rachni's soldiers and so on, Star Wars essentially gets as much of a free pass as ME did against the battle droids. A group of jedi would tear their way through husks and creepers like paper, while rachni, being vulnerable to biotics if memory serves would also fare poorly.

In terms of a general ground war using the tech from the movies, I'd had it to Mass Effect, but I don't know enough about the ships to make a decision on a full scale battle. However the Normandy's stealth systems would make it a total game breaker in any of the major SW space battles, though only if it arrived early - SW fighter pilots tend to fly visually in small fighter jets, so the Normandy's advantage would be lost in a standard battle. A Death star could almost certainly take out a reaper, but in general they would have the advantage. However if nothing else, people in Mass Effect seem vulnerable to mind control, meaning the force could prove a deciding factor in any fight between them.

Overall, no clear winner - simply too open ended.

Hmm, I believe we are all thinking of this the wrong way. Star Wars takes place long long ago in a galaxy far, far away. So I'm thinking at least 12,000 light years, likely more. I'm sure they have to have star maps to get there safely to then kill each other. So to get there first and scout around possible safe jump routes would take a very long time. Let's just assume that since it was long, long ago, everyone in the Star Wars galaxy is dead, swallowed into the super massive blackhole in it's center. Mass Effect's fleet wins.

If this is a serious thread the entire star wars army would annihilate every single army from mass effect including the reapers.

A single Eclipse class Star Destroyer is more than a match for the entire reaper fleet. Really even the dark empire incarnation of Darth Sidious is capable of wiping out an entire space fleet with one single force power that summons a wormhole with enough power to even destroy space and time.

Along with countless super weapons capable of destroying entire planets(death star, galaxy gun, sun crusher) and a massive army, there is no way the mass effect armies would even stand the slightest chance of even winning a fight. And then of course we have 5000 year old ships in star wars thats capable of making a star go super nova destroying an entire solar system in mere hours.

Still though, stormtroopers isn't much good vs. some geth hunters for example.

Our own galaxy is 90,000 ly's in diameter so it would have to be a lot further than 12k.  The nearest actual galaxy to the Milky Way is the Andromeda galaxy and it's a whopping 2.56 million light years away. One of the furthest away is A1689-zD1 which is 13 billion ly's from us (probobly farther as it's had 13 billion years to travel further away)

But back
on topic, are people really saying that the ME universe is more
"science" based than the Star Wars universe?

In terms
of plotline?  Yes.  Star Wars centers around Jedis and The Force.  Mass
Effect emphasizes tech and more scientific explanations.  Jedi mind
control / powers versus mass effect fields.  Manipulation / control of
The Force versus manipulation / application of dark matter, etc.  Star
Wars doesn't really make that effort to explain the science because that
is not really the point.  (Ex:  laser weaponry; at least in ME,
overheating / heat sinks are explained / applied.)  But it's like I said
earlier:  I really don't see the appeal in comparing such different
worlds.

But just because ME sprays out some technobabble in codex entries
doesn't make it based on science in any real way. As I said, FTL travel,
eezo, mass effect fields, biotics, hand held rail guns, personal magnetic shields capable of stopping rail gun rounds, non-centrifugal based anti-gravity, upwards of a dozen extra space faring races.  All of these things are just as fantasy based as anything in Star Wars imo.  It's a subjective opinion yes, but I still find them both to be near equal physics nightmares.

But reality is a lot more boring than fiction so I accept that Sci-fi won't ever push for truth in these regards. All I can say is at least there's not dwarves and elves in these universes...

No vs. threads, please. They are completely different universes, each with its own internal rules and consistency. They also each have the power of plot, and the writer of any conflict between the two would determine who wins and why.

End of line.
