Bioshock is a good game, but I creep out easily. I know it's not anywhere near as bad as System Shock, but the trauma of SHODAN prevented me from getting very far with Bioshock.
I liked Oblivion and Fallout 3. Their gameplay is pretty much the same, so it would depend on if you felt like a bit of fantasy or a bit of post-apocalyptic.
Now the Orange Box... Portal is worth every bit of praise. It's short. It's addictive.
And, of course, if you play Dragon Age, you can share the love with the rest of the forum here.

I'm really waiting for Alpha Protocol and will probably check out Alan Wake (via rental). Currently I'm playing FFXIII and Resonance of Fate on my 360.

Never played Stranglehold and I didn't care for Riddick (just not my kind of game really) but Lost Odyssey is great if you can tolerate some seriously uninspired gameplay for the sake of a good story. Resident Evil 4 and 5 are both great purchases, though 4 really was better on the Wii.
You should also get around to playing KotOR, though I hear the 360 can have some issues
with it. KotOR 2 is also very good, if flawed and unpolished. Fable 1 is pretty fun, though Fable 2 is better. I'd also throw in Jet Set Radio, Jade Empire, Assassin's Creed 2, and Borderlands (still quite fun solo, though it may be better online or with system link).
Also consider picking up Heavy Rain for your PS3.

1. Kotor 1 - One of the best games made by Bioware. If you liked the branching storylines and renegade/paragon elements of the ME series, you should feel at home here. Probably the best storyline of their games in my opinion. One hell of a twist in it, but I won't ruin that. Gameplay elements are probably slightly outdated now though, and definitely not as exciting as in ME. But still definitely worth your time.
2. Fable - Similar idea in terms of good/evil decisions, just no dialogue options. You gain good/evil points based on your actions. Story not very good. Mostly just a fun game, but that's just me.
3. Dragon Age - A fantastic game. Literally so many storylines within that they could fill up a couple books worth of information. Similar execution to ME in branching story. Different angle on morality from ME in that there is none, just an approval rating from your fellow party members that changes based on your actions. Some characters react differently than others.
4. Oblivion - a great open ended game. Lots of freedom. Good story but not as essential to enjoyment as bioware games makes their stories. A great timesink and fun as hell.
5. Fallout 3 - Mad max meets Oblivion. Post apocalyptic setting. I personally loved this game. Had the best atmosphere I have ever played. 40s style music blended with nuclear destruction landscape fits extremely well together for some reason. Good story and similar open endedness that oblivion has with right/wrong choices throughout.
Games you may want to consider getting:
1. Gears of war 1 & 2: Great story, good graphics, similar gameplay style to ME 2. No RPG elements though if that's what you're looking for.
2. Metal Gear Solid 4: Damn near perfect game. Great gameplay and graphics make this one easy on the eyes and thumbs. Only drawback I can think of is the story might be confusing for someone new to the series, and there are A LOT of cutscenes to sit through. But still a damn good game.
Hope this helps a little.

No. Buying ANY Valve game on a console is the VERY DEFINITION of 'doing it wrong'. The OB is possibly one of the greatest deals ever, but don't bother with it unless you've got it on the PC. Better community, mods and better peformance.Pacifien wrote...

On that note, get a gaming PC. Xboxs are great, though Microsoft has this habit of porting every 360 exclusive onto the PC at one point or another, usually with extra features to sell people on it.

Thanks, that helped a lot but I listed my ps3 games because I liked them and didn't want anyone to recommend me the 360 versions.

Regarding Gears of War - contrary to what people may claim, they play very differently to Mass Effect 1 and 2. And the single player is kind of a snorefest imo. They're very good multiplayer shooters though.
