Can we get some response as to whether this character limit will be removed? It's silly that I have the HD space to store more characters but can't because of a game limitation. I should not have to delete or move characters saves just to make more characters or play through standalone adventure DLC.

I seriously doubt they are going to remove the restriction if they haven't already.

I know it'd be a miracle to actually get this fixed at this point, but I have to say how frustrating this is. I just tried to play Leliana's Song for the first time and got this message. A total surprise.

Why is there a character limit at all? It's insane, especially for this type of game, with 6 different origins and another level of DLC. Could we please get a patch now that the Ultimate Edition has been released? Pretty please?

Crazy... you keep surprising me, Bioware. Not in a good way.

Ran into this today starting a play-through of Awakenings with my first Arcane Warrior. The fact that Bioware pretty much ignored any questions or requests on this topic doesn't surprise me. But what just makes me shake my head is they add this artificial character limit, but do not build a character deletion option into the game. So now I have to leave the game, go into system tools, find and delete the character(s) I no longer need so I can start a new game.

I swear, at times it feels like these people don't play games themselves.

This does get especially frustrating, I can't even comprehend how many characters I scrapped (or had to remake a month later or something) and for the RPG playerbase this seems to be a foolish thing to do on Bioware's part. Last time I checked Bethesda didn't do this to me on any of the Elder Scrolls titles...

Bah, whatevs. Out of all the things to patch and they don't fix this in the year or so since the release...

I've just encountered this issue. I'm trying to start my forth character and have deleted multiple saves (Leliana :-(, Golems saves, darkspawn one) and its still refusing me. I'm iced in at present so I'll have to wait a week to go get a card for the work around, so I'm wondering if anybody knows if all my decisions from source saves are transferred to my import saves so that I can delete previous versions of characters or not. :-/ ugh

Cinder, Just make sure you delete ALL the saves for whatever character it is. You have to completely remove the character, or move it to another HDD to free up another slot.

Thanks. I'm ending up deleting, like, my third character's Awakening saves, for instance, and I guess his Witch Hunt saves're next if it doesn't remember his Awakening decisions. I'm going for six unique characters through DA:O, and was attempting to at least play them through most of the DLC, and I was also hoping I could keep my Leliana's Song save as well before, but I guess the game treats that like 25 different character save sets. I also ended up deleting my Awakening Orlesian (7th) warden. *sigh* *bummed* I was hoping I'd still be able to maintain six complete persistent worlds, if you will, for the DA games in future. I'd have done the memory cups trick if I'd had the external memory device for it already (flash drive or memory card? .. never bought one), but oh well. :-/

Just move your saves to another HDD, I'm sure you have a spare USB laying around, or like mine where my xbox has some built in HDD space, and then the external.

Does anyone have any idea how it might affect the saves continuing over to DA2? I want to make a couple (four) new characters for Awakening and two for Witch Hunt using the extra storage space method...but I don't want to possibly accidentally delete some of the saves I have ready to go that are stored on the website.

I wish they would give a warning about character limits... too frustrating to find out this way...

For the Xbox, one easy workaround if you are simply trying to create a new character is to make a new Xbox 360 Profile, then you can play new characters regardless of the limit. Yes this means you cannot unlock other achievements on you main profile but it works! You could potentially do Leliana's Song and Darkspawn Chronicles on this new profile and just not get the bonuses for your main.

Holy hell. If ten characters isn't enough for you, then...wow. Guys. Really. Get a life. I mean- get a LIFE.

I get wanting to play different ways with different builds- I do it, too. I have five or six DA O and four or five DA2 charries. I have one Shepard for each class, at least. But ten characters in a 50-60 hour game is MORE THEN PLENTY. If you, for some INANE reason, feel the need to make more then that, then sorry, yes, you have to delete some character to make room. This is logical and reasonable.

1) there are 6 origins..allow male female variants (some especially city elf vary here)  plus rogue/warrior or elf/human variations for mages that's 24 possibilities...a bit overkill as you can mix the options together so I would want 12 (2 for each origin)
2) there is origins, awakening, golems and witch hunt each requiring a seperate character save - so 2 characters use up 8 slots out of 10 which leaves only 2 slots left for...
3) Leliana's song and Darkspawn chronicles each use 1 slot (with fixed characters)

so in my opinion (with this approach) you should have 50 slots (2 for each origin for each game/expansion with 2 left over for fixed character expansion

1. So delete a character. IF, for some asinine reason, you felt the need to play through all origins as both sexes, which is stupid and repetitive. I can see doing this once or twice at the MOST.

2. So delete a character.

2. Darkspawn chronicles is moronic anyway. Leliana's song isn't much better. Delete a save or don't play them.

OR, make a new profile, if it's that important to you.

Or how about not limiting the amount of characters you can have (the only limitation being your HDD). Dragon's Dogma being the pinnacle of idiocy with one character (and not even separate manual save as the game autosaves over it).

Or how about making a new account, which takes all of four seconds, if you've really got nothing better to do then make an obscene number of characters in a video game.

I have two accounts for DAO. You need to redo unlockables and lose bonus items, though.

make an obscene number of characters in a video game.

You reach the limit with two characters in DAO. I wouldn't call that 'obscene'.

Furthermore, the PC version of DAO doesn't have ten character limit, so why should console versions have it.

So?

Only if you play every single DLC and refuse to delete anything. :|

Furthermore...I don't actually care what PC versions have or don't have. You PCers spend so much time acting like you're the Kings of the World and consoles are soooooo lame and blah frickin' blah that I have long since lost the ability to have any sympathy for any problems you encounter.
