Then again if they're like birds shouldn't the females be bigger than the males? I really hope they don't look the same.
Someone said Garrus mentions it is there a youtube video of that?

I've always considered that Turians are almost more insect like, thats the entomologist in me for you....if thats the case then the females would be definitely bigger than the males.

This thread is just begging for brain-meltingly traumatizing fan art.

Anyway, I always thought Turian females would be smaller...... Like someone else said, I can't imagine them having a smaller waist (with how tiny they are already).

In the end, I don't think we are going to see one in ME3, however.

Well Garrus had more "reach" than the female turian he was fighting, so im pretty sure males will be bigger.

A creature with an exoskeleton wouldn't have breasts. Larvae don't feed on milk. Look at the animal kingdom, male and female differences exceed beyond what we see for people. Krogan are turtles, Turians are insects, Salarians are lizardlike....Quarians I don't know they're basically weird lookin peep's with funky legs and hands so whatever. Drell seem to have bodies that are close to a mammal's. The 3 other races I mentioned are all races that probably wouldn't have breasts because that's now how the females of that species differentiate themselves from the males. If you try to be creative you can come up with something that takes a natural coarse within that species.

Also of note, in breast feeding species the males also have nipples, that naked turian has no nipples. He doesn't even really have much exterior skin. A more supportive waist would help in carrying eggs if that's what they still do at this stage in their evolution. Depending on which gender is the "attractive one" would determine length and variation of fringe. I picture women having a less aggressive fringe since the males appear to have "attractive member" traits. Maybe a more rounded "mouth flap" thing. More brought in. The upper torso honestly would probably be identical between genders since that is never the defining feature of female insects. I wouldn't be surprised if the female turians were larger though. Krogan probably won't have much difference, same for salarian, maybe size difference and a different model on the "head features" but that really seems like "it" besides voices.

Turians are not insects, they are more like lizards or birds (actually every insect has 6 legs, thats what makes them insects). Drell looks like desert lizards, but i guess they are mammals i dunno, i don't think they lay eggs at least.

If turians are mammals which seems to be the case, their females will have something similar to breast, but it doesn't have to be breast. Most mammals on earth have udders like cows and not breasts.

mmm yeah thanks for the biology lesson I think I know they have 6 legs, I'm an entomologist. No really I am.

As for the sexual dimorphism - what about colour - heaps of species, mammals, birds and reptiles (oh and insects too) have distinct colour differences, maybe only something subtle considering the harsh environment.

Well its all just speculation isnt it, good point about the reach comment too, clearly suggests males are larger. Why havent we seen Turian females yet anyway? If Garrus says they were on his military ship surely there should have been more on the Citadel in ME1?

Ah yes, Turian females. One of the more popular threads to reappear. Here's the sketch from the old topic once more:

The codex is clear that turians are analogues of birds or bird-like dinosaurs.  The conversation between Shep and Garrus suggests that the females are smaller.  Listening to Garrus or the bachelor party turian shows that the head fringe is important to attractiveness and flexibility is considered attractive.  While krogans may have modified secondary humps (breasts) there is nothing in turian biology that would suggest it.  The pectoral muscle on an extended sternum bone may resemble breasts but that is as close as I can se it... I rather like that pick. Manages to make her appear feminine to human standards, but still make her look like a turian.

Not that I'm into turians.

I'm not.

personally, i really hope Bioware doesn't go "the Disney way" just slapping boobs and pretty eyes on and call it a female.

Well, technically this discussion will always boil down to nasty details about species reproduction....

Afaik Salarians are already outed as Laying eggs, and not having a hormone controlled sex-drive, so actually it would make sense that a Human might not be able to tell a Salarians gender at first sight.....

That's less the Disney way, and more horrifying.  Now you've got me picturing Garrus with boobs and a halter top making moon eyes, and that's VERY NO.

The only aliens we've seen with breasts are quarians and asari, they are both have very similar physiology to humans as stated in the codex. Other races we haven't seen yet, so we don't know (maybe hanar but you can't really tell them appart). I am pretty sure they wont slap breasts, on everything and call them female though.

To be honest, I hope they just make them have a different number of head fringes or something and otherwise look/sound the same.

Potential Shepard hilarity there, too.
