Well, I deleted those lines from that file and saved it, but when I restarted ME2 nothing changed. Thanks anyway! Hopefully this thread will get a bit of attention and the query will be answered.

It's so strange because I had no problems with connecting to the Cerberus Network at first - then it just stopped, five weeks ago. (I tried periodically since then, so I know it's not just because of the Hammerhead overloading the site. I mean, the news section on my ME2 launcher even updated - yet my game won't let me play it!) :-(

Thanks for pointing towards this thread, anyway, OP. :-)

Please tell me how to "clean the lines" and exactly what that means for a computer ignoramus like me.. I'd like to see if it works...

Installed Firewalker & Alt Appearance Pack 1. Continued game (started mission to find Dr. Okeer). Both Garrus & Jack in new outfits. Quit out after an hour or so to check emails etc. So far, so good.

When I launch the game now, it connects to Cerberus network fine but fails to authenticate Alt Appearance Pack every time!

Tried tidying Hosts file, no effect.

This is more annoying because that DLC is the first I've had to pay real money for!

Hey JMC002.. I am getting the exact same problem! I wonder if anybody else is experiencing this and if it's a Cerberus network problem?

Another bug I just noticed that I never experienced before.. when I hold shift to pause the action, and I mouse over my weapons, to the left and right of my guns it says "texture not found". I never experienced this before - yesterday everything was working perfectly!

Me too! apparantly it must have been a Cerberus network issue... but I am still getting the "missing texture" text next to my guns when I hold down the shift button.. strange...

Hey JM,

I think this is a bug that occurs when re-starting a new game with an imported character from ME1 or a previously completed ME2 game. Once you get Jacob to join you in the lazarus base, and you quick save the game, when you load the game, you get the missing texture text to the side of your weapons. Also, Jacob suddenly appears to have a shotgun and when you click on his shotgun, it will revert back to the pistol - you can keep clicking on it to get the shotgun back... Weird...

I have an odd Cerberus issue- The game tells me to log onto Cerberus with an account that is authorized for the DLC, and then logs me on to the network, but none of the DLCs work. The only account that has ever been used should be authorized, but even so I don't see an option to log out and log back on, so it looks like I'm stuck starting over? I hate all this authentication BS. It's bad enough when it works correctly, but now I can't even play the game, despite being a paying customer...

There is a way to fix cd-key issue after installing Firewalker pack. OpusIV this solution might also help with your problem.

Go to Windows/System32/drivers/etc
open hosts file with notepad and make sure it looks like that

http://img534.images...9689/hostsa.jpg

I thought I was the only one having that problem so I have reinstalled the game with my original cd (good thing I've saved English files from previous installation). This issue happens when you install Firewalker DLC and probably Command and Conquer 4 Tiberian Twilight. I had the same problem after installing CnC4 too. I think something is being added to hosts file during installation that blocks ME2 DRM.

I contacted EA support about the cerberus/alt appearance pack issue and did a live chat with one of their tech guys and was told that there was a problem with my account, that he'd fixed it but that it would take up to 24 hours to be fully resolved. So now I just have to wait until tomorrow to see if I can use the alt appearances pack or if I'm going to be asking for a refund, seeing as with the current problem with Cerberus, I can't use it (though I've seen no problem with any other DLC yet).

That's it? The servers had been localhosted? What the hell? I commented out all the ea.com entries and now it connects.

Same issue here. I tried the email tech support but they gave me some bullcrap answer about not being tested with Windows 7 64-bit. The game worked perfectly fine until I tried it again when the hammerhead dlc came out. now it gives me the can't connect interrupted... everytime I try and log on to Cerberus. Bioware doesn't care about us. There are a thousand topics about this and they won't even acknowledge the problem.

Hello, I'm running Windows Vista 64 bit.  I haven't been able to connect to the cerberous network since I got the game. Mine came off of steam. I also have no lines listed in my hosts file. I've tried several mentioned solutions to no avail. My mass effect exe file is excluded in my windows firewall, and another solution I have seen is to enable "Windows Communication Foundation HTTP Activation" and "Windows Commuication Foundation Non-HTTP Activation" under Control Panel>Programs and Features>Turn Windows features on or off, non of this has solved my issue. Out of frustration I went directly to the cerberous account website and entered my cerberous code there and downloaded all the DLCs and installed them, only to discover that I still need to connect to the cerberous network to activate them. I'm running out of options here, I've been enjoying the game without the DLC content so far, but I did pay my extra for the DLC content, I would really like to get it. Is there anyone out there with more solutions?

This is becoming a very common problem with the Steam version. People with a hard copy (disk) have no problems accessing the Cerberus Network. I believe there is an answer on the Steam forums in regards to this.

To access your DLC, you get it from these forums, by clicking on Profile -> Registered Game Promotions.

Also, please register the game on the forums so we know we are dealing with a legit copy, and not something that has been torrented.

Yeah, I notice that Callak's avatar does NOT have a registered game logo associated with it. Coincidence?

My guess would be because I can't connect to Serberous to register or get my DLC activated? Anyway, I'll check out what Bogsnot mentioned when I have a chance.  Oh, and I'm not even sure how to "register on the forums" yet.  I'm only here because I'm having problems with the game.

[EDIT]  Well the forum registration system is not accepting the key I got from Steam, so there seems to be all sorts of problems with it.  Hey!  BioWare!  Can we get a professional on the scene please?

Enough with edits. I might as well bump this thread. I'm having a lot of crashes in this game too, but first things first, where's my DLC? I also don't appreciate being accused of torrenting when I purchased a digital legal copy through steam. *glares at Bogsnot* Especially when the keys I got threw steam won't work to register on the forums.

[EDIT]Bogsnot I detest your immediate accusation that I've torrenting the game.  My purchase was lagitimate, and I'm a getting pissed that I didn't get what I payed for and even the base game keeps crashing on me when I do play it.  Beyond giving you my code which I will not, I have no other means of prooving my authenticity.  I'm seriously reconsidering my favoritism of Steam thus far.

Quite frankly, I dont care if you are offended by my request that you register the game so that I dont spend my efforts trying to support something that has been illegally downloaded, and potentialy full of malware causing extra problems. It was a request, not an accusation, get over it. I don't care that you are getting pissed either, because I dont have to put up with that crap. If you had bothered to read the forum description, these are User to User support forums, and EA provides the official tech support. Go and have a big whine to them.

While you are at it, go and have a big whine to Steam as well, because their version is the one that cannot connect to Cerberus Network, disk and EA digital downloads have no problem.

If you want your crashes to be resolved, go straight to EA and deal with them, and hope it takes less than 3-4 days. Until I see the ME2 symbol under your name, I wont bother answering any more help requests from you, even if you do end up reading the "Read First" thread and submitting a proper error report.

*Pokes Bogsnot* There it is! *points at shiny red number 2*. Anyway, I want to appolgize for my behavior, it was uncalled for. I just saw in the Bioware FAQs that they acknowledge the Cerebrous time out problem and are working on a solution.

No worries mate. I admit my bluntness can be offputting, especially to those who are eager to play the game and assume these are the official support forums. More than one person has told me I'm as subtle as a brick to the face.

The main reason why I ask for the registration to be done is that not only on here, but on other game forums I have spent many hours trying to figure out problems, only to find that the person with the issue has a pirate copy laced with malware. Again, I didnt mean to offend with the requerst, just trying to save myself some headaches.

Glad its resolved, and you're now in the game. When you finally get around to playing the Overlord DLC, make sure you do it late at night, with the lights off, and the volume up loud. You might need a change of jocks after certain points, but its worth it.

It's not honestly resolved. I still can't get my DLC's activated, I'm sufforing from this official problem:

"Timeouts:

Some

users are reporting timeouts or connection drops to Cerberus Network.

We are actively pursuing a fix to this and will update everyone once it

is fixed on the server-side."

It's been about three weeks since I bought the game and I think I'm close to finishing it and still haven't got the DLC content activated. For some reason I can't even post in the thread that quote came from, and I get an error on the "Contact US" page for getting ahold of EA tech support. This is very frustrating.
