MMO mechanics require a certain type of setting, typically two factions in permanent stalemate. For there to be a Dragon Age MMO there would need to be some butchering of lore. Anyway, why does everything have to be an MMO? Nearly all of them are sucked into oblivion within a few years because they can't compete with WoW.

Hello Voski. I just want you to know that I mean you no ill will when I say - this is worst idea in the history of entertainment since Abraham Lincoln said "I'm sick of kicking around the house all day, let's go take in a show."

Playing this game is so much fun the engine is beautifull, every second of it makes me wish that i could play this with my friends ride into an epic battle slaying darkspawn with all my real life knight homies!

PLEASE BIOWARE MULTIPLAYER CAPABILITES OR A NEW MMO!!!!!

what does everyone else think? :bandit:

...

Go to hell.

I hear they have runescape there.

I heard they had ZUMA but that may just be a single player level of hell. :P

Also, while the idea of a Dragon Age MMO sounds intriguing, I have to give it a resounding non.

MMO's have a lack of qaulity and more qauntity of aspects that most players these days find boring and are being constantly repeated on every single MMO game that has recently come out with little to no revolutionary ideas of their own.

Which is about to change with SWTOR.  Got to see some of the gameplay aspects and story.  Bioware is setting a new bar for MMO's, it's pretty incredible.

Why are people stuck on the MMO idea? There are other online RPG games that are not MMO based... Why can't people see that? I guess because MMO is common and others are hiding gems, peeps just can't see them -- like the old saying, can't see the forest because of the tress. I am not blaming any one, just trying to understand people mind set that says everyone online RPG is a MMO and why they can see that they are other types as well?

I came here to talk and try to understand the other side of the debate.  I think I will stay for a spell by the camp and drink my tea and talk about it for a bit. :P

If you have a look, you'll see there actually is no other side, since the topic creator is a troll.

If that is true, and if I have a server (like NWN 1 and a mod world that I made via it's toolset) and only two people play on it for free. Is that a MMO? BTW, I have done that before....

No, that would be a simple MO.

what happens if the said server has no more 200 poeple at any one time on the same server? What is that called? and where is the 1st "M" (Massive) comes in?

An actual MMO should be capable of supporting hundreds or thousands of players simultaneously.

I'm already not buying the new KOTOR after being a massive fan of the first two games because its an MMO, I would hate for Dragon Age to be ruined too.

ah i see, then following the above logic -- if I have a server and host I mod that I made by that game's toolset for a small number of people and other owner's of the same game did the same thing with their own mods, so that any given server is just a small collection of player made mods and stories that looks like a huge puzzle and every server is not link or related to any other server, then it is a MMO? All the servers are player own, also

First of all: How many people would "your server" be able to handle (Assuming all of them play at the same time and on the same ground)?

Secondly: Having a collection of 10-20 private-servers (user-operated) which can barely handle 5 players at once doesn't make it an MMO. It's just a bunch of rocks thrown together.

Are NWN 1 online worlds (player made, owner are not related to the OC or to each other, small number of players in each world), are those MMOs?

What you think of is a simple online lobby for people to gather and set up their own game for the enjoyment of a small party.

1) For NWN 1, large server may be 200 tops, but vast number of them less then 50

2) That is my point ^_^

So theoretically you could play NWN with 200 people at once?

If that is the case this could be considered an MMO-standard.

Let us take the next step -- what if I my wanted to update my NWN 1 mod graphics to DAO's graphics and do the same thing? is that a MMO?

Therefore, all I am asking Bioware to do is add network support  to DAO to do this. I was informed by other people that is a MMO, but is it?
