3 min missions of pointless hovering over yellow marks to get money or minerals (lol) and mindless run and gun whatever little enemies are there.

That's what the Mako was.

But they were +20-+30 mins, and not all, but some of them were atleast some what ME related

None of the Mako missions were related to the main questline.

You might want to play ME1 cause ilos, Vimire, Noveria, and Therum would like to talk to you.

I just noticed something after installing the Firewalker mission pack;

In the main menu screen, my "new content available" option is now gone. Is this a bug? Anybody else experiencing this with the PC version?

Um, it's gone because there's no new content available. You know... because you already installed it...

Except that option used to be there in the main menu all the time, even when I had everything installed..

Oh and one more thing I noticed, that is really a mute point, but as a completionist, where the hell is my Firewalker achievement?

I knew there was something I forgot to check before I closed the game. There's no HH achievement?

Some people on this forum are never pleased, anyway as people say you can't please everyone.

I think with the mako it was a case of not know what you have until its gone. The mako itself was flawed, but its purpose was not. Yes, exploring barren landscapes can be cool. Finding a mysterious space probe and salvaging it is a worthwhile reward. It makes the ME universe seem more alive.

It's my hope that ME3 can combine the best of ME1 and ME2 for the uncharted worlds. Give us some "mako planets" and some of the "shuttle planets"

If you can't exit the vehicle, this is really nothing more than a glorified mini game.

I don't have a problem with the dlc, however the fact there are no checkpoints got me really angry after I died twice

Rule 1: Everyone complains - you can't stop it.  Someone will complain no matter what.

Rule 2: Not everyone complaining is doing so without reason - some are complaining in hopes that their feedback will effect future DLC, as well as future games, to be more of their liking.  Some even suggest alternates or specifics that would have made the content as a whole to be more desireable for them.

Edit: And is it any worse then people complaining about people complaing?(I wonder if that makes this post complaining about people complaining about people complaining . . .)

i enjoyed it but it's not something terrific. the missions are short, pointless and overall not so fun.

The missile auto lock system is bad, it's better to avoid combats and cheat the AI with long distance and spam mouse1 button.

Complaining is an interesting word. If I have an opnion that you don't agree with then you call that complaining. If I agree with you then we are sharing the same opinion - even if we agree that the DLC has problems. I don't get that. You? ;)

I have not tried this DLC yet, since it's not up, but I'll assume the author of this thread and the following poster have. Judging from what I've seen here, the Firewalker pack is the first of several Hammerhead mission packs. Maybe this is just them releasing it to see what people think and to get a feel of it, and judging from how people respond, they will release more Hammerhead missions in the future, possibly really good ones with story driven missions and worth while rewards.

this. lets hope this just the framework for more indepth story based missions...cause if not<_<

edit: i felt i should clarify that i LIKE the hammerhead;  just not the "missions" it comes with, and
i can't wait for content to make better use of it.

I didn't have a huge issue with the DLC other than it was short....I would rather have a full-on expansion with an added part to the story rather than just some additional exploration missions.

I liked the Hammerhead (although I never had any complaints about the Mako either) and I did find a bug with the DLC. I noticed that after you exit the Hammerhead the first time and then re-enter it later, the targeting reticule displays however much ammo your regular weapon has in it rather than making it go away once you're back in the tank.

That's generally the way these threads go, it seems. In my opinion, if what someone says amounts to nothing more than "this is not to my liking," it's a complaint. But then I guess when someone tells someone else to stop complaining, they're saying that that person complaining is not to their liking, so they're essentially complaining.

I would like some more fun weapons installed on the HH. A mortar or anything that would make the gameplay diverse.

Complaining:
    1. Express unhappiness: to express discontent or unhappiness about a situation.
    2. Describe symptoms that are being experienced.
    3. Protest: to formally make an accusation of wrongdoing or a crime, or register a protest.

I think what we have been doing falls under those descriptions quite nicely.  So, he isn't quite wrong in using the word complain.  I just don't see why he bothers complaining about other complaining.

yeah, it pretty much made combatting the Geth Colossus and Geth Prime a breeze to kill.  It did take me a few tries to utilize this strategy when I was going after the last artifact.

Overall, I only felt a bit of an adrenaline rush when exiting the research station.  Other than that, the DLC was pretty plain.  The Hammerhead disappointed me since it could only take a few hits (on Normal mind you).  Also, the resource gathering kinda sucked since it was annoying to adjust the position of the Hammerhead whilst gathering.  Finally, I'm reminded of the misinformation about how to operate the vehicle.  I'm thinking that they were using a DVORAK keyboard when they programmed the instructions on what buttons to press for the resource-gathering and the vertical boosters.  If it wasn't for the informative post, I would've been ripping my hair out.  I'm glad that this DLC was indeed free since I wouldn't pay a penny for this.

And, if and when that day comes I will look at whatever they're offering on it's merits alone.

Just the same way I looked at this DLC and formed my opinion that it is almost insultingly un-fun, un-interesting and disjointed from all other aspects of the Mass Effect games.

By all means, I want them to go back to the drawing board and improve this stuff, and NOT scrap vehicles all together, but I'm also not going to give them a pass based on what I hope they'll do in the future.

I was sure I was going to be disappointed with the Hammerhead / Firewalker stuff, but in the end I actually quite like it all. There's a brilliant sense of nostalgia I get from playing these missions, I never realise how much I missed the following from ME1:

- Running over geth destroyers whilst they attempt to fire rockets at you :o
- Jumping crazily from really high places
- Shooting / strafing at big geth contraptions for far... too... long until they fall over
- The half-baked, slightly unfriendly storytelling-via-text missions (just like uncharted planets on ME1)
- The slightly clumsy feeling to whole Bioware-does-vehicles thing, with the additional feeling that the vehicle must somehow be ripped off from Unreal Tournament...

Ahh.... I love it! (seriously) <3

It's disappointing that the HH stuff isn't more integrated with the game like the Mako was, but this DLC was never going to fix that. Instead, this is a nice little set of mini-adventures that shows us what could have been and makes my copy of ME2 feel complete.

I do wish you could actually get out or had other weapons on it, though.

Played the new firewalker DLC... not going to go through the complaints  others have had... the DLC was free so I won't cry about it.

However, this DLC felt very out of place in the Mass Effect game... very  disjointed from the rest of it. The combat with the vehicle was  unbelievably flat and boring after 5 minutes.. it felt more like a cheap arcade shooter I played some 15 years ago or so... but less  entertaining unfortunately.

The controls are fine, they fixed  that aspect from the Mako in ME1.... but the gameplay is not fun .. at  all. Devoid of story or character and spamming guided rockets mindlessly and endlessly through the air until stuff goes boom is fun for a few  minutes.. then very boring after that.

Unfortunately to me this  DLC just seemed like a waste of developer time / resources. It was  free.. so no profit for bioware.... it was boring and unimpressive... so as a loyal Bioware consumer, I'm not pleased by it... it was a waste of time to play for the 45 minutes or so it took to finish.. and it was  sadly a waste of time to make..... I would have preferred if the devs  spent this time instead working on other things.... Bioware's other  games... better DLC... ME3... dragon age.. whatever.

I hope this  is the last of the vehicle DLC we see... it simply isn't fun.

Even if they added a good story to it, it still wouldn't be too great cus I'd be waiting to go through 5-10 minutes of lame boring combat to get to the story stuff... the combat needs to be fun....

Hammerhead combat is not fun.

Can't say I'm disappointed. My expectations weren't high either. On the positive I like the way the vehicle is controlled, at least regarding movement, however, I'm not a fan of the guided missiles despite not being against them. I would like at least another type of weapon, one not guided since some times I simply did not understood the guided mechanism. It seemed to always guide the missiles to the ground in some occasions.

Regarding the length and story or lack of both I wasn't expecting much so... I did like the overall environment of the missions but I would like to see the vehicle being more freely used. Like in some actual mission spanned through more than one planet with some parts needing the use of the Hammerhead and of course with an actual story and some dialogue.
