I have something new to do. Little did I know that after 10 minutes of
playing with it I would be turining off my system. Okay, here we go. The
first problem is the lack of mevement. The levels are so linear it's
not even funny. Second, when I'm aiming at one target, my missles head
to another. I could be aiming at a sky scraper buy my missles will hit
some plane in the sky. Thirdly, BW took away the secondary weapon, the
machine gun. Now I can only use one weapon and it's getting boring.
Also, it's hard to kill things because when I shoot my missles keep
missing their target. I was ainming right at a Geth Collosus but I
wasn't hitting it. Took me forever to take it down (used the ol' ramming
method). So, what did you guys think?

Also whats with the scanner. Why does it vibrate so much? That was just random and silly. Was there a decision that scanning was too boring and added that for novelty? The loading bar on the back of the Hammerhead was strange also in an aesthetic way it looked completely out of place.
I think the integrated hud is kind of novel and is something i like seeing games do. The vibration I think is to add a level of focus to mining. If you approach it like I do and I'm fighting a colossus while I'm mining i have to fire on the guy while trying to keep my ship from veering outside of the mining point AND avoiding his shots. It's just a dynamic that can make CERTAIN SITUATIONS feel more visceral. I think it's a neat little feature that makes mining feel more like "mining" and less like "go here do a thing"

Nice little storyline for a side mission. Wish there had been some dialogue.
Fighting the geth was a joke. All you had to do was stay out of range and pew pew pew. I enjoyed the drones jumping out at you.
I miss having a machine gun. Would be nice to have a machine gun, cannon and missle launcher.
The hotkeys were wrong in the help tips when you were learning the controls. That was bad.
I wish there had been more ground combat to go along with these missions. Really the ground vehicle was always a nice little joyride between ground missions.

So I thought that perhaps I was being a little too harsh on this thing earlier in this thread, so I went back and replayed the missions, start to finish. It's not that it bad per se, but...
The thing that bugs me so much about this whole Hammerhead thing is this: It appears that Bioware has absolutely no clue what was so great about exploring in the Mako. The Hammerhead missions are reminiscent of racing games, and sub-par mini games all rolled into one. No on-foot exploration, no meaningful exposition whatsoever, the whole package seems like a complete afterthought, even more so than the iphone game 'mass effect galaxy'
If ME2 was a random action game, this whole thing would be no big deal, it just isn't up to Bioware's incredibly high standards.
^ QFT. This is very much the problem with this in a nutshell: it feels too much like a DLC suited for a simple action game rather than an RPG. Then again, ME2 isn't much of an RPG and has been presented more like an action game as it is, so it's hardly a surprise.

That's not just a Hammerhead problem, that's a problem that's been with the vanilla game from day 1, and a silly unprofessional one that shouldn't have even happened. Seems whoever did the programming was too lazy or something to simply program the instructions to display whichever key you had bound and instead only displays the default controls. For a professional company like BioWare it flabbergasts me that such obviously sloppy coding was in this game. That said, much of the game feels rather... unpolished. Like it could have done with another month or so. Oh well.

if they treat us right, and don't abuse us with "character outfits" for 160 ms points,( after the promises of what the cerberus network would be) we'll be more inclined to check out other games from them, im pretty much just sick of XBL charging things with an odd number of points forcing me to invest in future purchases, not sure how the deals work between bioware and xbox but i mean, seriously.

This thing is complete and total crap. From the design of it, to the maneuverability (or lack thereof) to the fragility, to the total fail of control. Just a disaster. If this wasn't free I'd be really pissed.
Do us all a favor BioWare... stop putting out crap like this; it cheapens the game (which is truly great). Take your time, wait, and do it right. Put out DLC that compliments the game and is actually fun and exciting. Crappy hovercrafts and leather clothes to cover up Jack's ****** & tats aren't fun OR exciting. On the contrary, they're annoying and useless.

That said...the Hammerhead is pretty slick, it handles great for a hovering vehicle, they're no zoom though but other than that it's pretty good.

It's funny that it has occurred to no one that maybe firewalker pack was just them testing vehicle combat and getting fans reaction to how it actually works (I mean it's free, they could've easily charged for this) so that when they roll out a true expansion it'll be that much more good. So far all I've read on this forum is how the pack is so bad since it has no story but no one has talked about whether or not the vehicle combat is any good

thats almost exactly what i said this morning! im not sure though, it does seem like thats there attitude towards the game this time, especially with the online feedback in the options menu. i hope we're right though, because i really enjoyed flying around in the HH, just to see it integrated more with the world of ME2 would be brilliant

Okay, how about this: the vehicle combat is bad. Really bad. All you have to do is hold down the fire button and circle strafe. You have infinite ammo and no cooldowns. I would say this vehicle's combat is designed for a three year old, but the thing is so hard to control that a three year old would find it far too frustrating.

I can't express how completely God-Awful this is. Easily the single worst DLC that BioWare has ever released. Ever.

As far as some people thinking this was supposed to be "the new Mako", I never thought that. The Mako, it's jerky controls, and exploring 5,000 random planets that look exactly the same doesn't need a "new" angle, it needed to be removed completely. Honestly I'd rather do 1000 Hammerhead missions than drive around in the Mako.

Fighting colossi was easy and prolonged on insanity+, especially if you stayed out of their range. Throwing some geth in the environments where Shepard is on foot would have been fun, but perhaps the goal was to be cinematic with the environments (i.e., to not have random cover) or something.
My brother brought up that the shuttle should have been used on the 'cold' mission, since it can survive space and there was no combat. Perhaps combat was expected.
It'd be cool if we could know what the prothean/reaper allspark mercury sphere thing is in this game, but if not that's cool.
I don't have an opinion on whether or not the tank should have more guns or not.
Nice DLC all-in-all, I say. Thanks for it.

Agreed. The Hammerhead handles very well. Lightyears ahead of the Mako. But the combat and level design, and the "I'm about to explode!" alarm?
There is a video game device that has been used for years. It is called the power/vitality meter. It lets the player know exactly how much more damage they can take before death. Works pretty good.
Someone call Bioware and tell them about this revolutionary Idea.

The controls were not that bad, I mean it's a hover vehicle, they're supposed to be kind floaty. I do agree about the infinite ammo thing with no cooldown or anything to keep you from just holding the fire button

I noticed a shot of a desert location with the hammerhead in it...i think in the GTTV feed that wasn't in this pack. Wonder if we'll get a few more hammerhead missions. maybe a few missions where we get to get out and shoot up some geth would be swanky.

But then I played a mission that I had to kill things in it was the ML77 all over again, but worse, which is impressive I see why it took them two months. I did like messing around in it,it reminded me of that pod racer game way back when. The mission with the prothean ruin is my favorite by far if they had more like that (a mix of driving and walking) would be awesome.
I think BW listened to the fans talking about wanting more trophy sort of things from missions so hat's off for listening. But in the future no homing missiles just let me hit what I'm aiming for. Also I was hoping to get that last bit of money I need for the last upgrade I was 1000 credits away felt bad man.

My two cents' worth - I'm not impressed. I can't seem to scan the 'research data' - holding the right mouse button doesn't do anything. And after 30 minutes of pointless hopping around the canyon, I deliberately parked in the lava just to see what happened. =P
Won't be bothering with these missions - pointless and not related to the main game, IMO. I love ME2 (played it through 3 times already, trying a fourth), but this...this was just a total disappointment.
