I hope Bioware will reverse this trend of "streamlining" before ME3. The combat needed adjusting. It has been. The inventory needed adjusting. It has been.
Now focus on perfecting the actual, you know, NON-linear and RPG aspects. Please

Then there's the platforming. If there's one genre Bioware should have stayed away from it was driving (the Mako) but now you think you can have a shot at platforming Bioware? Oh wow.
Don't get me started on the rockets or the lack of checkpoints (bad luck and bad days happen to people).

1. its called a fire walker yet can't hover over fire/lava wth?
2. the homing rockets are nice and very user friendly don't change a thing with those however I would lke to see more worlds.
3. I see so many potential ideas with this unit, like forinstance and upgrade that would let you add on side mounted cluster missles, or machine guns, give something for the other two teammates to do otherwise whats the point in bringing them along?
4. I want to be able to explore some more planets like in the old mass effect.
5. can we see a DLC with armor sooner rather then later?

Maybe that's the problem after all, untimately you're still traversing through a bunch of bland, plain, featureless terrain ala Mako adventures in ME1. this combined with the sheer linearity, makes the DLC really bland. There's no cool stuff like fighting a Praetorian while in the Hammerhead, or integrating it into the storyline. Like Zaeed and Kasumi, it feels isolated, detached, stuff that is of absolutely no significance to the big picture aside from more linear icing on the linear cake

I expected exploration and excitement. I got shooting and digging. Thanks, but I'll think I'll wait for Kasumi.

you speak truth but several (many) have predicted this is just a tease for a larger, paid HH DLC down the road so my expectations were absolutely subterranean.
here's what it is: it's the equivalent of the gambling dialogs you had at one of the circus tents outside of Nashkel: fun, short-lived, and ultimately pointless.

Well i can't even download it. I have a cerberus network membership but when i load up ME2 and click on "New Content" it takes me to a page to buy the alt costumes. But given the few opinions i've read in this thread. I shall not download it.
You can. You need to navigate from that page to your list of available downloads.

Heh, kinda like how Zaeed was a tease for Kasumi.
But seriously though I don't see how a bigger HH DLC will appeal beyond another 2-3 more "larger" missions which (assuming they're actually fun) thrill for a while and then fade away. If and when it does come out, it'll just be another Kasumi, i.e a side story that distracts you from fighting the reapers long enough to make you think the game universe just got a lot deeper, before you get back on track to carry on with the main line, exactly the same main line as all your previous playthroughs, since unlike the Arc Projector, you certainly can't bring Hammy to Horizon or Korlus or whatever.
I maintain what I said before, every single DLC so far has been mere icing on the cake, no more.

Very, very dissappointed with this whole thing. I've beaten two of the "missons" so far and they feel like an insult. The Hammerhead itself controls fine and is very fun to pilot. But by cthuhlu, I've never played something that felt so utterly disconnected with a video game universe. I mean these missons were more linear than FFXIII (badum-tish!)!

Linear. Don't use that word on these forums. Has no meaning here.

This DLC really lacked a connection to the storyline, but has a lot of potential for future DLC missions, should they decide to include them.

Whatever makes you think Goto-chan's gonna be exploration and excitement? All of the character recruitments in the game haven't exactly been very explorative considering you just trudge down a path marked by an arrow that shows up when you hit left-shift or M. And the excitement is pretty much the same cover and shoot combat as before...

The most painful insult of the Hammerhead?
The Lack of a HEALTH BAR WHILE IN COMBAT! Seriously... who's bright idea was that?! "Say lets make this thing we been working on since forever and we have hyped all up...Let make sure when you have to fight in it you have NO IDEA how much damage you taking outside of damage effects so you have no idea how bad off you are!"
Beyond that there is only one other thing that really grabbed me, the fact they did not make sure the ingame tutorial for the Hammerhead tells you the right jump and scan buttons. Really, I know its a Free DLC but, how can you spend all this time working on a DLC Pack and not make sure something as basic as making sure the Tutoral is correct???

I'm very disappointed with the Hammerhead controls and I'm not planning to play through all of its missions (maybe when I'm REALLY bored, but not now I can assure you). Lack of auto save is super frustrating, and it makes the tiny addition look longer than it really is.
If this is supposed to be a warmup for Kasumi's vehicle sequences, God help us all.

Negative points? No secondary firing mode. I miss the 1 2 punch of the Mako and a machine gun. It feels less involved only pressing the same button over and over until something dies.
Honestly, I didn't expect to enjoy it. I prefer story or character related content or missions with decisions to make and interesting characters to meet and such, rather than pure action, but the Hammerhead was more fun to play than I thought it would be. If only the missions had more of a story and the Prothean artifact actually went somewhere.
I wouldn't mind seeing more of it, though.

However, the Hammerhead is meant for specific missions. With the Kodiak you had to land out of sight of hostiles or trust in the power of surprise when you dropped in right on their undefended front lawn.
The Hammerhead can take you to places where the Kodiak would find no room to go down or would be shot out of the sky during the approach - a single Merc gunship could have done that, let alone a defence turret.
And the Hammerhead does a good job if you're racing against time on difficult terrain.
That said - how about a competition "Design a Hammerhead mission"? Some task that the Kodiak just couldn't do?
Preferably without a rush of thresher maws ...
