Personally, I rather enjoyed the new DLC. I didn't have very high hopes for it, and considering it's free, and it provides a small distraction from the rest of the game, I don't think it's all that bad. It added some platforming and racing aspects to the game, something that's just kinda there in case you get bored regular old shooting or just need a change of pace, like Quasar in the first Mass Effect.

I personally loved the way the Hammerhead handled, as compared to the Mako. I actually had some fun on the platforming stages. The missle tracking needs some serious work, maybe add a machine gun to be able to pepper enemies reliably, but other than that I thought it handled well.

My only real gripe is how unintegrated it is to the main story. With the Mako at least you got a few main story missions that had you driving around, added scale and changed up the gameplay. I wish the Hammerhead would have had a few appearances in the main story, had it not been DLC, something to change pace and make a few of the levels longer or stand out more.

Overall I thought the DLC was ok. My biggest gripe is that combat in the Hammerhead consisted of spamming infinite homing rockets. I mean for fracks sake by the second fight I was just hopping around and firing in the general direction of enemies!

Also as someone else mentioned it feels like Shepard can take more damage than the Hammerhead.

Wow more options but the answers are way to specfic. The first part of the answers work but everything after the comma is too much.
Also the last option defeats the reason for a poll and feedback.

The only thing the Hammerhead needs is a secondary weapon, you know, to spice things up combat-wise. Apart from that the missions were pretty fun although I hope they put some more variety into future Hammerhead packs.

Can't wait for future updates. =D

I played through the 5 missions in a relatively short time, but my impression is somewhat positive. The Hammerhead controls excellently and is a vast improvement over the Mako. Were the missions trite and pointless? Without a doubt. Do they prove the Hammerhead is a well constructed, fun mode of travel worth more missions (hopefully with more depth)? Definitely in my books.

New one created. I sticked to TJSolo comments and removed the specificity of the answers + the last one.

Not fanboyism, well, at least not really.
I'll acknowledge that Bioware has it's problems, but the constant complaining of free content is really aggrivating.

Exactly my opinion.

If you want to voice your opinion, that this DLC is not what you have wished for, then do it in a constructive and polite way and don't just b!tch all over the place. That won't help anyone.

Yeah I think the common consensus (ignoring the super negative haters out there) is that it's better than the mako, the Geth battle stage is great and probably the highlight of the pack, and the other 4 stages, while atmospheric and cool, just make people want more combat, and for that matter, more combat options. It's badass but without being able to customize the ship it probably won't still be as badass after say...20 missions or whatever.

Personally I think an upgraded mako (boost and better guns and controls) would offer a nice compliment to the hammerhead, while the hammerhead is acrobatic the mako would be all about barreling through all badass like (god i want to try that boost out on the mako)

Very seriously. The free aspect of the cerberus network had already been discussed.

It's not free, it's 15 bucks (1200 Bioware points).

If you got the game new, it's offered or actually, it's included.

Whatever is what Bioware does, it's not free. They pay themselves with your money when you bought their games.

So, when you think something is not good, you shall complain. If you don't, do not complain then when the quality of their game will be drastically decreased.

My only real gripe with the DLC is that.... it's too short. The Hammerhead is actually more fun to drive around than the Mako: after I completed the first mission, I just drove around driving and jumping it around cliffs.

I'd wish for some kind of tactical limitation to the missile launcher though (which would be a good time to add an overheat mechanic), and for longer, more expanded missions, since the Firewalker missions seems more like a prelude to the potential of the Hammerhead than a full fledged mission pack. Still, it might have been short, but it's pretty sweet.

Also, the +60 Biotic Damage upgrade you get out of the "final" mission it pretty worth it if you're playing a biotic class.

I didn't spend $15 bucks for it, so it was free.  Don't argue semantics.

Joining the discussion late in the day, but may as well throw my opinion on the pile of other opinions nobody cares about.

It was good.  Not great, not bad, but good.  Controlled nice, fun to play the missions, but overall it was too damn short.  1 mission with no challenge at all, 1 mission with a few enemies, 1 mission that serves as a time attack, 1 mission that has environmental hazards, 1 mission with enemies and environmental hazards, and finally 1 mission that is simply a "base assault" with few targets and no noteworthy enemies.

The summary of the add-on says it all.  Fair missions that were just too easy and short.  Granted, we are only 2 months after release, so expecting a grand scale DLC expansion at this time is unfair, however the Hammerhead was originally intended to be a part of the game from the get go.  With that in mind it does seem like a rather small addition for something that was supposedly being developed alongside the final released product.

As for suggestions, I can only hope that more challenging and longer missions utilizing the Hammerhead vehicle will be developed and released via Cerberus network in the future, because they were fun, and I for one would wish to play more of them.

if BW spun this off into a $15 multiplayer racing game with guns, i'd buy it.

Uhmm not really what I was expecting but its free so....

I'm a little bit disappointed in the instructions to actually control the thing, I had to go into key bindings to see how to actually do it.

The game itself said to press the right mouse button to mine data, and to use left shift to jump...

the key bindings on the other hand said to use V to mine and E to jump... i spent a good ten minutes very frustrated after dying two times.

And I was really expectation planet exploration and full on combat... this was swoop racing, just more annoying and frustrating.

Just finished the missions.

Overall opinion? Waste of download bandwidth.

Way to justify your eRage.

This is possibly the most mindless response I've seen in ages.

Justify? Justify what, exactly?

My opinion is the DLC was a waste of time and wasn't even worth the wait for it to download, nor the bandwidth itself (of which, I have a limited amount, so it's better spent on other things).

I don't need to justify that sentiment.

"eRage"? I'm dissapointed at the quality of the work they put out, nothing more, nothing less.

But of course, use of hyperbolic and downright moronic slang like this seems a necessary qualification to being a forum lame like yourself.

Don't expect further attention.

You get mad easy.  That's bound to make someone sitting behind their keyboard happy.

If you really are that upset about it, just ask for your money back.

You did save your proof of purchase, right?

I'm really pissed that I have to do the entire Geth combat mission over again, because some idiot forgot to enable the save function before they released it. Four out of five artifacts collected, and I have to start over again because the M-44 might as well be made out of paper on Insanity, going up against 2 Colossi without defilade cover or natural obstructions is not something you want to do, and you can't save AT ALL be you in combat or out of it.

This is what Bioware needs to know!

1. The Bring Down the Sky missions was great in exploration and narrative. BUT, the Mako is not fun to drive over long distances.

2. The Firewalker missions are terrible and linear. BUT, the Hammerhead is fun to drive.

SO? Put them both together. The exploration (ability to get out of your vehicle at any time) and the beautiful worlds + the awesome handling Hammerhead. Add in some findable items and a reason to do it and BOOM! Awesome!

While this wasn't terrible, it wasn't particularly good, either.

The mission design was...meh. Platforming was okay (though I'm not really a big fan of platforming) but there were some issues. The codex says it can hover over calm water, but somehow the relatively calm "acid" means instant death? Real life hovercrafts would have been fine on that liquid, no reason that futuristic ones shouldn't be. The way the thing moves all over the place whenever you're scanning something is ridiculous. The Hammerhead can be sitting perfectly still, and as soon as you hit "V" it's like there was a massive earthquake or something.

As a combat vehicle, the Hammerhead is far and away the worst I've ever encountered. Not only is there no useful feedback as to the state of the vehicle (health bar, please?) but the armor is paper thin. Two hits and dead isn't exactly fun, particularly with homing plasma bolts (which make pretty much no sense.) The weapons homes in at seeming random, can't be aimed worth a darn (zoom please) and likes to shoot into the ground unless your jumping or aim upwards.

The story of the DLC had some potential to be interesting. I wanted to see what would happen, but the ending was just terrible. Instead of an interesting artifact that gives me some sort of information or anything of value, I get a metal ball. Yay. The ending simply couldn't have been less interesting.

Anyway, I think the Hammerhead definitely has potential. I think it needs to be rebalanced in combat, needs a better weapon system, and needs more fleshed out missions. I did have fun driving it, however, so I certainly wouldn't mind seeing more content that included it (though I'm not likely to pay for anything involving it without extensive reading of player reviews, however.)

Edit:  Yeah, I forgot to mention, the inability to save is ridiculous.  I had to play through one of the longer missions twice because I got slaughtered trying to get the last artifact.  I basically cheesed it out, spawned the enemies, jumped back to safety, and shot them all from out of their range in order to beat it, because there's no way to withstand the damage from those geth on insanity.

There's a reason you can't save.  The vehicle is constantly airborne.  There are areas while airborne that if you save you can create an unsalvagable save point (right above a lava pit)

So to prevent people from complaining that their entire character was ruined due to a foolishly made save while autosave was turned off, they removed the save function while on Firewalker missions.

i enjoyed it. unlike some people, i can take the big picture view, and see the fw dlc is designed to be part of a larger game, not a game in itself. it fits well within the cerebus mythos, and the world exploration. its pretty straight forward, but so was the mako.

what amuses me is the sudden reversal of opinion in that bring down the sky is now the paragon of dlc. i remember the community treated it less than warmly when it was launched.

i enjoyed fw, and on top of that, its free. cant beat that.

If I have to throw in a few things that could be improved for any future missions using the Hammerhead:

1. A limitation on the missile launcher. While the Hammerhead is indeed weaker HP and attack-wise than the Mako, the unlimited ammo from the missile launcher plus the lack of cooldown or any limiting factor kinda puts your tactical options to spamming the missiles till it hits the target. Perhaps the old overheating system, or even a limited mag system where you can only shoot a certain number of rockets before it automatically "reloads" would be idea.

2. Longer missions and more expansive courses to take better advantage of the Hammerhead's enhanced mobility.

3. More enemy variety. Given that we see many ground vehicles from other races like the Krogan Tomkahs, why not have them as enemies? Mantis Gunships would also be good choices for future enemies giving an element of anti-air combat, and also a chance to engage the Blue Suns, Blood Pack or Eclipse mercs in vehicular battle.

4. Improved missile tracking. The system used in the Hammerhead as of current is the system used on the ML-77 Missile Launcher HW, where it basically homes in on the first target it sees regardless of what enemy you're tracking. Why not have the missiles home in on the targets similar to biotic powers, i.e. the missile homes in on the highlighted target?

5. On-foot combat, which was lacking on the dismounted segments of the Firewalker missions.

The Firewalker DLC just scratches the potential of the Hammerhead: The vehicle itself shows lots of potential as the successor to the Mako, it's the missions it's in that needs a lot more work.

-----

Edit:

After reading that comment on the ball at the end:

Isn't that large silver ball similar to the one found on Eletania in ME1? Granted that one didn't turn into a smaller ball...

This!

Deserves to be repeated until everyone at Bioware knows. The HH is really good, I like it. Make the landing smoother and give it a secondary weapon and it's perfect. Add a handful (not more) of ME1-style planets with ME1-style exploration as background for a handful of missions and it'd be worth paying for.

Edit:
This also deserves to be hammered into BW's heads: No in-mission save is annoying!
(Repeat until you're unlikely to forget for the next 10 games you develop)

Most people don't feel the need to give feedback on something they enjoy.  So naturally when something new comes out, all you're going to hear is complaints.  Most people who liked it, played it, and moved on.
