I second that. Exactly my thoughts. They should give us missions like ME, but with the Hammerhead.DarknessBear wrote...
This is what Bioware needs to know!
1. The Bring Down the Sky missions was great in exploration and narrative. BUT, the Mako is not fun to drive over long distances.
2. The Firewalker missions are terrible and linear. BUT, the Hammerhead is fun to drive.
SO? Put them both together. The exploration (ability to get out of your vehicle at any time) and the beautiful worlds + the awesome handling Hammerhead. Add in some findable items and a reason to do it and BOOM! Awesome!

That said, this DLC was pretty okay to me. I only expected it to fill up the random assignments spot like in ME1. Its also pretty nice that the missions have a loose story like the few assignments in ME2.
I do wish that these N7/UNC/Cerberus assignments will be referenced to in ME3 somehow. ME1 had many of these random ones that came back in ME2 one way or another.

But one more thing, it may be far fetched, but i would like an option to either stick with the Hammerhead or get a new Mako with a little more kick to the boosters, i actually like aiming my targets before shooting and the idea that a tank is a frifcken' tank not some plastic toy anyone can step on.
P.S. What's the idea here, i thought the SR-2 was too big to enter the atmosphere and now all of a sudden no one cares anymore!? I'm gonna fire Joker xD!

I'm really pissed that I have to do the entire Geth combat mission over again, because some idiot forgot to enable the save function before they released it. Four out of five artifacts collected, and I have to start over again because the M-44 might as well be made out of paper on Insanity, going up against 2 Colossi without defilade cover or natural obstructions is not something you want to do, and you can't save AT ALL be you in combat or out of it.

i love ME2 more than ME1, but the HH missions felt like i was playing a jet pilot simulator where my engines flamed out every few seconds.

what amuses me is the sudden reversal of opinion in that bring down the sky is now the paragon of dlc. i remember the community treated it less than warmly when it was launched.
.
I think that's actually Pinnacle Station you're talking about there, because Bring Down The Sky was actually the best vehicular mission i've seen yet in terms of variety in combat exploring and story.

The exact quote from EDI was:
"This ship is nearly twice the size of the original Normandy. It is more difficult to land the ship on high-gravity worlds."
She says nothing about the SR-2 not being able to enter an atmosphere (do note that the SR-2 does just that every time you dock at Illium), just that the Normandy SR-2 is more difficult to land on planets than the SR-1, which was able to firmly land on solid ground by itself on Virmire.

It's no Mako. Bunch of tacked-on missions with no impact or really much challenge. In ME1, driving around in the Mako felt like I was exploring something, finding cool stuff.
This is just boring.
Sorry, BioWare. Love your stuff, but you missed the mark on this one. Back to EVE and TF2 for me.

Right, sorry about that, i really forgot
But when i saw Joker pull those crazy stunts with this huge ass ship (flying inches from a building judging by the shadows) it just felt kind of awkward.

MMORPGs don't need to be as complex as solo RPGs are, because, you're not alone and other players bring a lot to the game.

Well I can do without the exciting opportunity of getting ganked by some PVP jock in mid-mission, thank you. For the lulz.

All of that said, the missions themselves were crap. Maybe the whole point was to just show you what the Hammerhead could do but don't expect much out of them. Maybe they should have ust called it the Hammerhead Test Pack. That way, people would not have had high expectations for it.
A better integration would have been to have one of the weapons companies contact the Normandy wanting you to test drive a prototype vehicle. Trying to act like these were real missions was kind of silly.
Personally I'm not a fan of any vehicles in Mass Effect but I can see where something like an upgradeable Hammerhead would be something people would like. Maybe you could add long range, short and medium range missiles, gauss rifles, grenade launchers, nukes, better thrusters and jump jets, etc. So I can see if you allow people to mod it that it could be fun.

Come on, we're going nowhere here.
First : "Hammerhead missions is not interesting. I go back playing what I was playing."
Second : "Ahaha you're playing EVE, you're a jerk and you DARE insult MY Mass Effect 2 !!! you're a fool, I don't even know why I'm talking to you."
Me : "please, compare what we can compare. Anyone has played a MMORPG knows it can't be by anyway compared to a solo RPG."
Do you feel better this way ?

The way that they hyped this up you'd assume it would at least last longer than twentyfive minutes..
Oh well, I guess this hopefully could mean they'll add to it later? ...For a price probably...<_<
I miss my Mako...
Hopefully Bioware will improve the Hammerhead later...

I know. But still...it lacked depth. Anyway, hopefully they'll fix it. Personally I would rather pay for a long, worthwhile dlc including the Hammerhead rather than get a few, pointless missions for free.

Don't worry, I'm sure you'll get your chance to pay for HH missions - I just hope they listen to some of the things that have been said and make it worthwhile and worth the money.

*growl* Bought the game, received the CN code right with the disks. Looks free enough for me. It's not like they offer the game without CN code for a lesser charge.

I would like to see a Hammerhead being upgradeable in the same way as the Normandy SR-2, only that because you actually use the Hammerhead in-mission you can see the upgrades in use. Maybe upgraded firepower in the form of an MRLS (maybe just quad missiles at the expense of refire time).

Nah, this can stay, but try to keep things in control,
My appologies, but you're right, our tone is treading a little close to innapropriate.
What the OP and myself are getting at is that for what this DLC was described to be, it doesn't quite live up to that. Is it a fun little free diversion? Sure I guess, but I'd rather pay the devs more money to get a good, long experience that actually integrates in some meaningful way with the game proper, or at least fits in a bit more snugly with it. I'm also not really digging the 'gamy-ness' of the hammerhead, it feels out-of-place in the universe, and pales in comparison to the functionality of the mako.
A good example of good DLC is the 'bring down the sky ' from ME1, that one was so inter-connected with ME2 and had such a well-developed story that it stands head and shoulders above anything that's been released for ME1 or 2 since. More of that, less of this, please and thank you.
I fully and entirely agree and I assure you, I am just as disappointed in this DLC as you are. To the point of "I am Outraged!"
Having a vehicle in a game to me, means that it must incorporate all the other existing forms of gameplay as well as being RELEVANT to the existing story.
Driving around in a moving "Loading Bar" and playing Courier for Cerberus to me is well, unacceptable. When they said they would take longer on making the Hammerhead and release it late, I thought, oh good, they're going to make it really good, and have lots of story. Then I heard that you couldn't exit the vehicle but then my optimism kicked in and said, ...."Alright, well it'll atleast incorporate into the missions well" But the "missions" involve very little other than waiting on a spot for a pickup, and destroying generators. This is the kind of mindless gameplay that existed back in 1992. I would've hoped for more involved gameplay especially coming from BioWare, Especially coming with the Mass Effect franchise.
I feel they really botched this one. Back in ME1, the vehicle really felt like a vehicle, a means to transport you across hazardous surfaces to where you, your team needed to go, which was properly and Realistically armed. Then all of a sudden, you have rapid fire rockets, and no machine gun to take care of infantry, this to me is just...out of place and feels very obtuse in an otherwise fluid universe. I'm very very disappointed with this DLC.
I hae the same comment too. I do admit though, I loved the lava mission on it but they could have done so much more. It feels to me that they just added it to fill in an empty space unless bioware plans to make more downloadable exploration missions. I think what I said a long time ago sounded more solid than how the hammerhead.
"It would be fun to add more cinematic missions like stopping vigilantes who are racist to human colonies, exploring the rest of the citadel and revisiting old areas like eden prime or ilos,
add a bit of exploration and extra odd missions to ad a bit of enviroment and have some of them be only available AFTER the suicide mission.
plus, more gun types. I think im not the only one noticing the absence of a good gatling gun or a fully automatic pistol, or a single shot assault rifle, tactical shield and more armor parts.
(lol imagine some fan service parts based on some robots like a gundam and armored core)"
see?
I guess, I too was having high hopes for dlc...

- You die too fast FROM INFANTRY
- Where my shields at?
- Why can't I save?
- The guided rockets suck, Cannon and MG FTW.
+ No zoom
-Too Linear
- The mission were all "ooh dangerous, better be fast ooh".
- No Garrus+Tali dialog? Seriously?
Things I liked:
-Start of each mission, your squad walked to the tank.
This DLC made me realize how much I missed Admiral Hackett.
