In the game section there is a title called "New Next Gen Game" so I think its something different.

At risk of repeating myself, just because the counters are both counting down to the same time, who says they're both counting down to the same thing?

Could it not be both an ME announcement AND a seperate DA announcement? Whether it's announcements of the sequels, or DLC packs, or something else completely...

I agree with this they Bioware could very well be developing the sequels to Dragon Age and Mass Effect right now.  Much like how the second two Matrix movies were done (they sucked but I digress) .  But I think my avatar displays an appropriate look for what kind of clue as to what any of us really know.  Also since it isn't on The Old Republic website I doubt it's related to that game.

What is up with the count down on the Mass Effect 2 page?  None of the known content is suppose to be out in that amount of time...

Did a little source code peaking and this is what I came up with for the counter

5Days
23Hours
25Minutes
30Seconds

so it looks like the counter has something to do with pretty awesome bbq sauce, maybe more food ingredients for the Normandy?

hahaha This made me laugh out loud literrally.  I've been wondering the same thing.  But ultimately it's up to BioWare.

EA owns the Mass Effect Ip and they can do what ever they want to and plus gamers forget that EA is controlled by shareholders and if they want Mass Effect 1 and 2 on the PS3 then it will happen. Bioware is owned by EA. Its not like it was when Mass Effect 1 was released when Bioware was privately owned by the company that EA CEO's John Ricitolio was part of. everyone said Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid would never go to Xbox 360 and look what happened in back to back E3. so the idea that Mass Effect not going to the PS3 is stupid because in this day and age 3rd party developers and publishers will do what it takes to make money

The original MassEffect was published by Microsoft, on Xbox360. It was only ported to PC after Bioware was aquired be EA.

Usually the contracts are built in a way, that the Pure IP belongs to the developer, while the software and assets themselves are owned (and financed) by the Publisher.

It is quite likely that MS and EA worked out a deal that says MassEffect will never touch any Non-MS Systems (like PS3/Mac) in exchange for the usage rights to ME1.

Ah, but they do have it for Mac, don't they? At least, all my DLC says "PC/Mac". Which may not mean anything. *shrug*

Anyway I WISH they would port it to PS3 but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Probably the announcement of Mass Effect 3 Release date , the developers said they'll announce it's release date after the second dlc pack .

Hmm, I didn't hear about that. It seems silly to me though to announce the release date of ME3 so close to the release of the first. I'd expect ME3 to be more than a year away. Also, why would they have the countdown on the DA page too? It's not like the ME3 release has anything to do with DA.

I remember hearing it , but i can't recall where! and i didn't notice the count down on DA website ... Well point taken , we'll know for sure after 6 days .
The timing is what made me think of Mass Effect 3 release date .

This is what they're counting down for ... I guess ...:bandit:

We already know that they announced Dragon Age 2. Maybe it will be an announcement for Mass Effect 3. Or maybe a big expansion for Mass Effect 2.

More likely an ME2 expansion. Mass Effect 2 just came out, we're not gonna see anything on ME3 for a LONG time. It took almost 3 years for the second installment to come around, remember?

Reason why it took longer is because they redid the combat system, ME3 will use the same combat system.

They have been name dropping Mass Effect 3 here and there (i.e. Project Wombat) but as of yet they have not made any official announcements.  They have also said that the development time between ME2 and 3 will not be as big as the one between ME1 and 2.  Those are reasons I said it could be ME3 related.  However it very well could have nothing to do with ME or DA.

I still think it's the launch date for the revamped Bioware Social site (this place), to include all BW games.

Hopefully it's something more exciting then that though.

I still see the "New Next Gen Game" option under the BioWare Games menu. I think it has something to do with that.

Signs point to a new IP, and judging from what BW already has on the table, another outerspace type science-fiction or fantasy based RPG is unlikely. Using my own baseless speculation, BW could try its hand at something post-apocalyptic, though something closer to Shadowrun than Fallout. Or a world war scenario, semi-historic or not-too-distance future, would be fun in the hands of a capable western developer. I just hope that the recent trend of 'vampire are dreamy' doesn't slink its way their collective brains. I will not play a twilight RPG.

What we know:

ME 3 and DA 2 have already been announced and are slated for an 2011 release. Bioware has already said there will be no KOTOR 3-8 because in fact SWTOR is in fact KOTOR 3-23.

BioWare's PR has responded to Joystiq's Ben Gilbert with the following statement: "The announcement is more community focused and won't be a game announcement. Unfortunately we can't share the details with the press.

That's unfortunate. I was hoping that it would be a new IP announcement after all.

Doubt it. It'll most likely be like.. "THERE'S NOW A POST COUNTER TIED TO YOUR ACCOUNT :D" or  "KARMA SYSTEM!"
