Hey, if anyone were to remix Illusive Man, then maybe "Invisible Man" coule be the title of the ReMix :)

Thanks a ton for the feedback guys!  I've already got a good handful of ME/ME2 ReMix/rearrangements, but I'm holding off on posting them for now in hopes that maybe we can do something a little more formal with them all at once.  Maybe even get BioWare to let us release them officially at some point, who knows.

In the meanwhile, while I appreciate your requests for remixes, I'm just one person, yet there are HUNDREDS of super-talented musicians over at OCR who might be willing to take a shot at more, so I recommend taking a minute to register at their forums and then letting them know--they have a "ReMix Request" form which you can find here:

http://ocremix.org/f...isplay.php?f=10

Once more, I am grateful and humbled by all your kind responses :)  I'll try to bug Jack, Sam, David, and Brian to maybe get on here and chime in a bit if I can--they're all busy guys, but I'll see if I can nudge them ;)

Here's a ringtone I made of one of my favorite tracks in the game that didn't end up in the mp3 soundtrack.  Enjoy!

I love that part of the music, cheers for making the ringtone! :)

Nice work on those remixes.(Even better work on the ME1/ME2 soundtracks!) Love the sounds in The Sound of the Galaxy.

Also the interview was a good read. Looking forward to more from you guys.

Great work! I've been hoping to find some remixes of ME tracks for some time now, almost thought no one else but me cared to dive into them and break them down to build back up. I haven't had the proper time yet myself, this is definitely a motivator!

Love what you did, especially to Nova Siberia.

As for the interview, I still have to read it ;)

Why do I see this thread so late?...

Anyway, great interview! I love reading stuff about the Mass Effect music and the team behind it, as well as listening to the music itself! Looking forward to more!

Oh, and really, to anyone who has any saying on this- please, please... push forward for a Collector Trilogy Edition of the soundtracks, with all music, bonus, unreleased and completed test tracks! I would love that, and I'm syre I'm not the only one!

EDIT: Another suggestion - I have the Mass Effect 2 CE, with its terribly disappointing Behind the Scenes DVD. It would have been far better with actual interviews, and maybe the unreleased tracks for us CE owners. Maybe for Mass Effect 3?  ^_^

interesting, he mentions that there was originally more romance scenes planned for the game that they didn't get to do. Hmmm....

Indeed there was!  I'm probably not at liberty to say more though.

I will say I was disappointed when they removed the recruitable Elcor squadmate, that would have been an interesting romance to unfold... (I'm just kidding, please don't ban me BioWare!)

Wait, wait... there were plans for an Elcor squadmate? And it was cut?! BioWare, why.... why!? :?:crying:

Jimmy, did you go to a music school or are you one of those self-educated musicians like Nobuo Uematsu?

Well, I've taken some music theory courses (really enjoyed them!) but nothing beyond that.  I did play in the high school band, and I took piano lessons for about 8 years back when I was 5.  But aside from that, I just picked up a copy of FL Studio back around 2003 or so (Fruity Loops back then) and found my way over to OC ReMix and that's pretty much how I got to where I am.

I think I would really enjoy going back to school for music though, I feel like there's always just so much to learn, and I'd love to improve my skills at orchestration, production, and scoring in general.  Besides, it's a VERY competeive market, and I think the more you know the better off you are :)

Oh, and Jim-

You know what else was left out of Tali's track?

The little tune that plays after you beat her recruitment mission and loyalty mission.

Tali's "Victory" theme of sorts.

That was awesome. I was sadfaced it was cut out, but I can see why.

I'm actually not sure which "victory" theme you're talking about, haha :x

There was a short little outro that plays right after you kill the colossus in the Tali acq and it's sort of "fanfare-ish", and it's been a couple months since my last playthrough, so I don't remember which it was during the loyalty mission. But was that it perhaps? I'm pretty sure it's in the OST at the end of Tali's track, unless you're talking about another one :)

(It's sad I should know the OST better than that, but I suppose in my own defense, there were a LOT of individual tracks, and it was easy to lose track of which was which) :)

Yeah, thats exactly what I'm talking about. At least, I think we are thinking about the same thing.

Jesus, this is going to turn into one of those, "I think he thinks that we think we know about that thing we're both not thinking about being the thing we're thinking about"

EDIT-

Actually, its not. lol

I'm talking about the track that plays AFTER that. I think. Oh goddamn it.

Let me find a video that includes the blasted thing-

I'll PM it to you since its spoilerific.

btw, just a bit of trivia for anyone who's interested or didn't already know, I got the title "Nova Siberia" from the Mass Effect wiki on Noveria, which is apparently how the name of the planet was contrived. And I thought that was a pretty awesome explanation :)

The Nova Siberian Tigers are massive, I've heard.

One question that hasn't been asked before - was there a particular reason to exclude ambient music for the Normandy and the hub worlds (Citadel, Illium, Omega)? Large parts of the game feel strangely silent now, and I honestly miss the "Normandy" theme buzzing in the background as I walked around the ship - not to mention on the large cities!

They answered this on Formspring.

Why is there no music in the hub worlds (illium, citadel, omega)
or the Normandy for ME2? The presidium theme and wards theme from ME1
were great.

That's a good question. Brian and Jimmy have both played through
the game a couple times and actually mentioned this. Really, it was all
mostly just a matter of what BioWare wanted and where. Personally I
would have preferred music in those locations as well, but c'est la vie.
Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll bring back the presidium/wards music
for ME3.

I find that I agree with them on the topic of ambient music on the Citadel and in the Wards.

The lack of it left some life out of the environment.

It might be the result of trying to make 4 hub worlds all with lots of non-mission related characterization. Simple things like a Krogan mechanic wanting to talk to you more after completing his side quest instead of thanking you and disappearing. As a result, each hub world feels compact, but there are still many characters with things to say - even if they don't give quests.

As a result, it's hard to include music for a place like Tuchanka where an NPC (selectable or not) has tries to say something every time you walk by.

"Someday we'll get off of this rock, and show those Turians who's boss!"

Getting to know more about the personal views of krogan - and how different they are from each other - was a dramatic improvement over ME1 (other than Wrex, of course), as mentioned in this thread:

Krogan: Cute and Friendly in ME2
