So Sam stumbled across this and brought it to my attention, I think it's a pretty cool poll, and I'm curious to hear your responses :) http://social.biowar...694/polls/6671/

There's some great themes on there that need some more love, get to it! :)

(also, OP updated)

I fear that it's going to turn into another "favorite character" poll instead of a "favorite character theme song" poll.

:police:

Samara, Grunt, Tali and Legion are my favorites. It fits the mission and character quite well.

Hey guys, we need your input. What were some of your favorite tracks in the game that were NOT in the MP3 soundtrack? If you're not sure what they're called, just say where they played in the game. Levels, cutscenes, anything. List away!

also, thanks Ecael :)

Hmm, I like the music that plays when you have to open the valves at the Collector base, The Long Walk, and defending the turret on Horizon.

The music from Overlord & Kasumi DLC was cool, wonder who did them?

Sorry for double post but to answer the question: Tali and Samara are my favourites, pretty much for the same reasons Ecael says, the music fits the missions.

Hey. First of all, I love "Every Story Begins with a Name"!

For me would be:
1. Character creation menu music (in this case I have same feelings of loss as in ME1 character creation soundtrack).
2. Horizon, last scenes, battle against two scions.
3. Music from Samara's character reveal trailer. And this! And this! I know they are only other/prolonged versions of "battle themes", but... Same with the end of Tali's trial... That calming, beautiful part on the soundtrack was definitely too short.
4. Music that was played during conversation with Okeer and battle with that crazy Jedore woman later.
5. "Grunt's montage" on 00:33! (normally heard on Tuchanka Trial Grounds between battles, yes?).
6. There was a piece of remade ME1 Eden Prime (during disarming charges), but I don't recall the moment in ME2 game where it was used.
7. Comaduster :3

I've heard it wasn't WoS who did tracks for Kasumi and Overlord. But they deserve to be noticed. All eight of 'em.

EDIT: Is it a question about ME2 music only?

Another great thread I see too late... well, if it still counts:

1. Kasumi's theme - I haven't played the "Stolen Memories" DLC, but the music grabbed me while I was watching a playthrough on YouTube. Fantastic theme, the slow motif especially, the one that played in the museum scene. One of the best character themes, in my opinion. I would love to hear that with proper quality!

2. The percussion leading up to "Jump Drive", also heard in the beggining of "Suicide Mission", and in an extended version during the "Long Walk" section of the final battle. I absolutely love that piece, really exciting and sets up the mood. If it can be arranged into a slightly longer piece, I'm all for it. Found it here Biotic Field Battle.

3. The vocal cue from Samara's theme. It was supposed to play during the Morinth/Samara cutscene, wasn't it? Very haunting, deep and melodic.

And from the first Mass Effect:

"Bring Down the Sky" DLC music and "Ilos Battle". I really liked those two!

EDIT: Oh, yes, and this too: Escape from the Citadel

Nobody would mind paying for those tracks if you guys have time to put them all together. (hint)

I dunno about you guys, but I'm really curious about the music that didn't make it in the game. I'd love to hear just how much of the Mass Effect world they explored in their imaginations with sound.

That was a great interview, btw!  I finally went through and read / listened to everything.  I admit, I wanted to make sure I got a plug in for those missing tracks first and then I just got crunched for time.

Can I just say how much I love your Noveria remix?  Noveria's theme is probably one of my most favorite tracks from Mass Effect, period.  I would literally stand around in Port Hanshan and listen to the music and watch the snow fly outside the window.  Your remix is simply fantastic, it retains the feel of the original song, yet it has its own personality, it's own direction.  You still imagine ice and snow, but you get a sense of movement in the remix itself, like you're actually moving through the storm in the cold, not just watching one.  I'm probably not making any sense, oh well, I'm not a music critic, just a big fan of the Mass Effect music, both 1 and 2.  :)  I'll just say, it's awesome!  (That makes sense.)

And I'd happily throw more money at you guys if the missing tracks were pulled together somehow.

Are the songs considered to be your property or BioWare's? Just wondering...

Sam has already posted Jack's concept theme on youtube, as well as several other tracks meant for the original Mass Effect. Go for it! Please?:innocent:

Nah, generally, composers only get paid for whatever goes into the project (game, movie, tv show, etc).  Stuff that doesn't make it into the game typically belongs to us.  So in Sam's case, he slapped 'em on Youtube for you all to enjoy :)

There's usually all kinds of wacky factors that have to go into account for something like that though.  If we released it as a "Music Inspired by Mass Effect" type thing, then I believe that would require permission from Bio, seeing as they (or EA or whoever) own the ME trademark/rights/etc.  But who knows! Never say never, and I've actually got a handful of old Mass Effect remixes (before I was on Wall of Sound) that I'm still working on finding something to do with.  Some of 'em are pretty good and some of 'em are kind of meh, but one way or another, I/we will eventually figure something out so you guys can hear and enjoy them :)

More ME2 music = WIN. Even though it looks as though the tracks everyone wanted still didn't make the cut. But whatever! *buys*

"Wait, this is awesome, but aren't there other tracks that STILL
aren't included on either OST?" you ask.  The answer is yes, but never
give up hope, EA just might have more surprises in store... who knows!
