So The Hammerhead is the successor to the Mako tank. Who decided the best way to upgrade a tank is to make it hover and remove the machine gun?

The maneuverability alone makes the Hammerhead leaps and bounds better than the Mako. The Mako moved like a dry turd and was even worse on hills and mountains. The Hammerhead drives perfect.

I share the same opinion.

I had no problems with the Hammerhead at all.... maybe because I am playing the 360 ^ ^

I am too.  My Hammerhead seemed to enjoy having seizures and chucking my crew into acid water when attempting to use that gather research/minerals button.

It never happened to me, maybe you just can't control it.

Maybe, maybe not.  After having to restart that entire mission twice from it, I deemed the content not worth my time.  Deleted it off my already limited HDD.

More power to you sir! I'm still hovering around like a maniac and blowing **** up!

A lot of people are saying that this is just a demo, and it's free, so don't complain. But if it's really just a demo which will be improved over time, I would expect them to be honest about that. Heck, why not just call it Hammerhead Beta. Just have some dude email Shepard, and tell him, "Hey Shepard, we're going to be testing a new research vehicle, and we want you to test it out for us. Who knows, if things go well, you can even use it for "future" missions!" Instead, we got what we got... which is buggy, flawed, and not 100% thought out, with a mission that has a very poorly told story. Am I glad I'm not paying for it, yes... I am very glad I didn't pay for this, because it feels very unfinished when it comes to combat.

The problem with calling this a beta, even if true, is that this is how the HH will function period.
Also even if there will be future missions for it you will still need to have the Firewalker DLC(Cerberus Network) to access those missions.
The current HH will never be called or admitted to being a beta or test as it is a mandatory install for future pay2play DLC.

I don't want to complain, since it's free. But I would like to provide some constructive criticism; afterall, I suspect that the main reason it's free is because they intend to release pay content down the road.

I have two major concerns:
1) No saving on the missions. So, if I die, I have to go back to the start, reselect my squad, and watch the cinimatic again? This is not acceptable in this day and age; and it's just lazy. It's not the 1980s, computers are powerful enough to save progress mid-mission.

2) A single spammable weapon is not very fun; the player should have to manage his attack. Without having to apply some stratagy to his shooting, it just becomes mindless. I think the way the Mako's weaponry worked was idea and fun--you had a powerful main gun with a long cooldown, and a weak secondary weapon that was spammable.

Ah, a refreshingly polite criticism! I agree with you on both counts. I haven't died yet, but saving just in case would be a welcome addition. I would have also enjoyed a gatling gun of some sort as a secondary weapon just for the sake of giving me more options.

As someone who has supported more or less all of Bioware's design choices throughout ME2 so far (Aside from the near total lack of banter between squad mates) I have to say I was very dissapointed with this.

I know it's free, I know I didn't "have" to get it. However I for one just didn't find it fun. The tank itself handles like a dream, especially compred to the mako, but the missions had no depth. It added nothing to the overall game and just felt like pointless fluff. As sergio71785 mentioned having a single gun that you spammed into eternity wasn't interesting. Having a "tank" that seemed to be able to take as much fire from standard geth as I could on foot before exploding just felt silly.

Hopefully the negative responses will be taken on board and future DLC will be a vast improvement.

Installer is ~450MB, like i said in my last sentence it was fun cruisin around but was really disappointing.

Yes but it does contain patch 1.01 inside (I noticed it tried to apply it to the game during the DLC installation), so you can remove 65MB from the data size and then there are the voices of the HammerHead in all languages...

1) Need a health/shield bar.

2) Need a booster gauge (or do we have infinite booster?)

3) I STILL WANT TO ACCESS THE LAST LEVEL OF MY STARSHIP DAMIT!

4) I've only done the very short tutorial so far but  that leaves only 4 missions left... that's short... was expected to be disapointed... feel disapointed...

As the Hammerhead is really really small, you may notice that there is still enough room for 1 and maybe 2 more vehicle in the hangar bay of the Normandy-SR2 : behind the Zodiac and in front of the HammerHead.

There are another set of unused grappling hooks just in front of the Hammerhead. What's next? A starfighter? I think I saw one in the Kasumi HD trailer (or was it another missile like in that N-7 mission)...

Thanks for that short and free stuff but can we have pod hovercraft racing tournament and free planetary exploration now?
Dam... I should have salvaged the Mako when I went to see the wreckage of the Normandy-SR1... [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/sad.png[/smilie]

What also was strange:
In the Volcano mission there is at the place where you start an invisible targetable object what was named M-44 if i remember it right. Didn't fiind out what to do or if i could do something with it.

M-44 is the name of Hammerhead's VI

at first, you payed for the DLC in advance, when you got the game. (but nvm this now)

secondly, the DLC is just playin bad. zero gameplay value after the first 5 minutes of having fun with controls. zero story. zero voice from Shep/companions.
dont get me wrong, I can't say I'm disappointed - this is what I was expecting. but damn, this DLC just put doubts in my head about the Kasumi DLC's quality.

I wouldn't base Kasumi off of this.  Base your oponions of Kasumi off of Zaeed's DLC, becuase the two will be handled very similarly.

No you don't, if you bought it new you got the Cerberus card for free, so you pay nothing for anything given to you from the Cerberus network for free. Also there was a story, did you even read the emails and datapads/journals.

Another thing that might need to be added is a stop/recharge for the cannon, or ammo/infinite reload, so you're at least not spamming it non-stop.

The Cerberus card is not free.  It was just included in the game if you bought it new for no additional cost.  The price of that card is included in the original game.  If I bought the game used, and then bought a Cerberus Card, I'd probably be very pissed off right now.  If Kasumi was included as well, then that'd be fine, since that's ~$7 for Kasumi, figure the same for Zaeed, then a buck or so for all these worthless heavy weapons and stuff.

I have to say I like this DLC for the hour it let me play with it, BUT if I would have had to pay over 200 or more Microsoft Points for it, I would have had to write several angry emails to Bioware, all under different names and say exactly the same things so they would be very confused, then i would return to my secret lair in my basement and start to cut myself...

That was a Joke.

Wasn't really expecting more than the handful of N7-esque missions that came along with it, so no problems there. It handles *much* better than the Mako, so again, no problem. The only things I would improve have already been mentioned; those being: better enemy AI and a secondary weapon of some sort. Other than those minor complaints, I thoroughly enjoyed this dlc.

I hated that. Who thought it would be a great idea to give the tank Parkinsons while trying to mine something?

Yeah I didn't like this DLC too much either. But it was free, and I'm thankful for that. It just feels like a flying Mako and this missions are way too short.

I agree. I just finished playing it and it was, by far, the most pointless DLC ever. I honestly don't know why they even BOTHERED to give us a tank if we can't even land on planets unless there is an anomaly (which often leads to another terrible 5-10 minute mission, but thats another story entirely.)

This tank, while fun, is only useful for those five missions and those five missions ONLY.

A note on ME2 as a whole, is that we all hope that its just a somewhat minor bridge from one great game to another, making ME3 a fantastic close to the series.

I THINK that the shaking while mining is supposed to simulate a tractor beam or something similar screwing with the hover capacity of the Hammerhead.

I call BS.  My keymapping has been default since day one and the keys on the tutorial were still wrong.

Raphael diSanto wrote...

The keymappings is a big nasty bug.

Even if your controls are default, you have to go into the options and "reset" them back to default in order to use the Hammerhead's controls as stated in the tutorial.

Not a great showing, guys. But the tank's fun, at least :)

Once Again:

Chris Priestly wrote...

This does not mean "if you've changed your key mapping, do this", it means "do this". They changed the default keys in the patch but you have to change them to default yourself. It's not a bug, it's just one extra step they wanted you to take.
