This Xpac seems to have followed Bioware's DLC formula too closely, in that they are extremely short and only of value to diehard fans. Look at the DLC for Borderlands, it's way more expansive and actually adds value to the game.

Umm WK DLC is 4 hours long.  AW is 30 hours.  The DLC for borderlands, some of it was good, some of it rubbish.  Zombie island is 1 ZONE and was $10, no vehicles, no level cap, no new skills.
Mad Moxxi was garbage.

I think the romances are fine, but I'm not exactly turned on by underwearz Sexxors. I like my sex fully nude.

It's kinda like saying I like my pizza hot tho, it's not like some depraved nuance of sexual prefs.  the point being, the PG-13 sex in DAO more like PG-11

Howzabout some ADULT content for us adults? :innocent:

I agree with you, Alistair is sweet, nice and cute:) and I really miss him in awakening (I hope that he will be back in another expansion if bioware will do another expansion), but I must say that I love awakening, only the word fights between Oghren and Anders are legen..wait for it..Dary :D , its was little bit short for me but it is only expansion so I think that it worth for this price

You know how it works. Your character can chop the heads from men, women, and children, and all but bathe in blood and ichor, but ****, show a nipple and y'all are going straight to hell.

well from my experience i find the game is like the original but somewhat lacking in ratio to the cost but i suppose since its ea the company whose making the the rush job i cant blame bioware. and as an a old bioware fan, their games are truly great but when ea takes reign of a franchise the original games they make are graphically great and so those the bar of the quality. if EA see a game expansion or sequel that can be milked by hype and assumption alone they will petty much make the game studio do rush jobs just to make the many fans out there to quickly rush and pay for a game that should of have a lower price value for the equivalent to its price value. and trust me ea's been doing this for many games lately like command and conquer 4, the awakening game with its bugs, mass effect 2 (well it was great but in term of content of story and gameplay it was kind of short, the reason why its last long is its ludicrous mining search minigame and other repetitive aspect of the game.) but for the story its amazing in a sense its much gritter. but its didnt seem to pass bioware bar of great gaming sequel, like baldur's gate 2 shadow of amn, in term of pushing the bar of a gaming sequel. So the only thing i can say for certain is that bioware games are great if EA doesnt have them do rush job, afterall quality is much preferable than quick releases. hell if it takes 4/+ years to produce an awesome sequel so be it at the very least a sequel to a title shouldn't be a 1-2 year rush job. sorry for trailing off anyway in term of awakening as a expansion the price short be lower to around 30 or make dlc items workable in the expansion. so we can actually feel that the 40$ we paid for was an equivalent exchange of compensation.

My 2 cents:

Game was overpriced for the amount of content. 40 bucks for something I can beat in a day is not cool. The game was good, story up to par, new chat system was cool.  But if I had known It was going to stop so soon I would have passed.

Not gonna lie Bioware, love your games but if you pull this **** again i'm not paying for your game if you know what I mean.

The game feels exactly like the first Dragon Age on a MUCH shorter basis.

An expansion shorter than the original? Imagine that..

You shouldn´t  judge others because you seem.. ohm a little bit.. slow yourself.
Average playing time are still 10-20 hours.
Besides I doubt that the OP has no RL-friends just because he/she wanted opinions and not trolling around as you do.
I know, that it´s hard to make the difference out so let me tell you, that opinions usually consist of one than more sentence excluding your thoughts about the OPs personality:

Nice troll, have you ever played an EXPANSION before.. of course it's not as long as the original game jeez

Your not = You're btw.:alien:

If you want romances and hack'n'slashing feels enforced sidequest, why not playing Sims instead? Extra spices make food more tasty, yes, but food can be good also without them.

If you just want to kill endless rows of similar opponents and don´t care about a story, why not playing Space Invaders instead?
Perhaps because it´s a completly different game?

If you are going to do a serious rating / review of the game, at least tell everyone what are you rating this game against? Comparison is needed here.

Say what?     Is this a new official  forum rule?  Or is this  just some random poster named  AuraofMana pretending to be a site administrator? As long as we discuss Awakenings, we can frame our threads here  however we want.  You're in no position to dictate the terms.    But thanks for  the  presumptious input!

But hey, so as not to be  seen as a complete ass, I'll take your advice.  Here's my review w/ comparisons!  Ready?

Review
This game is a  cheaply-made, rushed  turd.   Comparison:   like the brown stuff  I  just  recently  secreted into the toilet.  No  wait.   It's worse.  The brown stuff I recently  secreted  didn't  cost me  $40 bucks.

Game play wise,  Awakenings was unbalanced, bugged and  uninspired.  The  plot-pacing was  un-natural and awkward.    As  a self-proclaimed expansion,  Awakenings completely trashes absolutely everything that made Origins  a masterpiece:  Dialogue, combat, depth.

It was SHORT by expansion standards:   Comparison:  it was half as long as  HoTU.  Half as long as SoU.   A third as long as Thone of Bhaal.  It was  half as long as  MoTB.  And just to kick us in the balls again,  someone decided to  make it 25% more  expensive.

Rating:

I dislike ratings.  But, again, I'll take your suggestion.  Awakenings has earned its  3.5 rating.  That's right.  3.5 out of 10.  An F.  The only reason why I didn't give it a  ZERO is that  at least  it doesn't ruin Origins.  It leaves it untouched.  Which is good, because I'm gonna go back to playing  Origins now, and pretend that Bioware didn't just   flush their reputation  down the toilet with the TURD that they just secreted.

Happy?

Actually I seem to remember the OP incredulously asking why people were weighing in on a topic so obviously meant for the BioWare devs, who were Obviously waiting with baited breath for OP's divine judgement.

RTFT, srsly.

Because I like game as the way it is and I'm not complaining loud when some little unnecessary extra is gone it's not ruining whole game.
I love the story and the fact that main focus in these games is still the same that in the good old Rogue, slash some evilness with strategy. I love extra features very much, but when one little thing lacks it's not disaster. It's not romances what this game is about.

I have made the decision, from this day forth never to buy add-on packs or DLC ever again. I just find them to be a waste of time and money.

From now on it's the full game or nothing.

That is a rather myopic statement to make pinkleaf. Wouldn't it be better to just base a decision on a case to case basis?

Honistly I find all this indignation over something so trivial hilarious

Not really. I loved Origins so much, and I would give it a 10/10 if I thought I could get a way with it.

I know there are a lot of people that like these add-ons and things, but I find these bits and pieces, most of the time, to pose problems of some sort, they also never live up to expectations.

That's why, from now on I am going to stick with the real thing. :)

Bioware, Please continue to exclude useless romances and we don't care how the dialogue system really works at all. People who do should be playing The Sims or searching for real friends. Thank you bioware for listening and making the combat better and the DW warrior abilities actually worth while now...now more spells and slots for them :)

The combat is better (just to easy) in awakening. Seems less cluttered and more organized.
