I mean seriously bioware how did you manage to even write such an idiotic character that makes no sense in any way at all

How about offering some useful criticism rather than simply insulting someone's creation? What didn't you like about her? What could have been done better? What would you have rather seen? It takes no thought or time to insult someone - give us something tangible.

I quite liked her. With the elves history of enslavement etc being what it was I am surprised such a character was not written into the original game. However one problem is that her banter doesn't seem to change in line with her personality.

I dunno.

I've seen some pretty bad RPG characters.

I kind of liked her really. She was a bit of a shrew, but at the same time you got enough of explanations why. Even if you detest her doesn't mean she's a bad character. A bad character are those you forget about.

That is very true. I disliked Ashely Williams in ME but I think she was by far the best written character because she got such a strong reaction from me.

Agreed.  A Dalish mage was way overdue.  It would have been nice if you could have chosen to play a mage out of the Dalish origin... just so you didn't have to do the same circle of magi origin every time you wanted a mage.

I rather wish she WAS in Origins. I would have liked to see her developed more. She has potential, and it's sad that she'll likely been thrown aside when the sequel/next expansion comes around.

Although she was well rounded and well written; she was simply too bitter for my tastes.

Because she had the audacity to have hair similar to Morrigan's, I thought I was going to hate her. Strangely I don't, I quite like her. Now she isn't one of the most interesting companions. But I felt she was adequate enough.

She comes across as irrational even after you finish her personal quest. No redemption I don't think. However, I still enjoyed interacting with her. She's not quite as easy to dissect as the other companions, which makes her a challenge to befriend and that's always fun.

She's not a bad character because she is annoying or dislikeable

She's a bad character because her motivation to join is that the darkspawn killed her family or tribe, whatever, and then when she gets into the keep she hardly mentions it at all and just whines about humans all the time. And the only one who is bothered by her killings seems to be Justice, all of the male party members just drool over her boobies.

I think they just took what they thought people liked about Morrigan and made a half-ass attempt at making a 2.0 version of her

And you can't make her answer for her crimes in any other way than just killing her when you meet her, seriously, she's a mass murderer

Even Morrigan could be confronted about her issues and it was done well

I don't think this is true. I can't recall the exact conversations but I seem to recall both Nathaniel and Anders having discussions involving morality with her.

If you have her and Justice in your party, he eventually convinces her that she should redeem herself by telling humans about the Dalish.

She struck me as a fairly generic, Dalish/human hater. I found Nathaniel and Justice far more compelling characters. I wish those two had been saved for a game with wider scope to fully realize their potential.

She gives Oghren a run for his money in the homeliness department.

I agree about the generic concept, but I quite liked the way she was realised. The conversation about the diary, for instance - that was good. And I liked the eerie scenes with her ghoulified sister. Some of the stuff about her felt like it could have been copy/pasted from any fantasy RPG from the last ten years (NWN2 and The Witcher, particularly), but when the game took the time to individualise her, she was okay.

I did quite like Velanna, but I think she was probably the weakest of the new companions (personally, I think Oghren was the weakest companion - and this from soemone who liked him in Origins). She was angry and bitter and pretty tragic, all told. It kinda makes sense that most of her dialogue is about hating humans, considering she's working with them and in human society. But her hatred makes sense, given the Dalish and her own history. A lot of people copare her to Morrigan, but I found them to be quite different in a most respects beyond the 'mages who live in forests and go to the same hairdresser' line. Her conversations with Justice and Nathaniel were good, but then they are probably the best characters.

At first I thought she a bad character, but than I heard she has personal quest I haven't tried. Perhaps it fleshes out her character,

I had wished I killed her instead of letting her join the party. Next time she won't be so lucky.

I don't think she was a horrible character. I've yet to see a horrible character from Bioware. She just kinda filled that role that Morrigan played in the original. I felt she was rather annoying and wasn't terribly interested in hearing what she had to say.

Not enough cleavage for me to pay attention I guess ;)
