But yeah, I've tried 3 different drivers, defragged my harddrive, reinstalled the game, downloaded the patch, cleaned the inside of my computer. Nothing, still crashes probably every 15-20 minutes or something.

I get Shale but when I try to move him everything crashes. Same thing happened with the Blood Dragon Armor or whatever it's called, it kept crashing my games to the point where I just disabled all the bonus content and made a new character.
I still experience some crashes but that might be because I got windows 7
Hope it might be to some help for those who get crashes with the collectors edition.

I also have the collectors edition of the game on dvd.
I spent yesterday updating and troubleshooting to no avail.
I have run NWN, Mass Effect and other games with no such problems.

I'm having similar issues, I get a brief burst of graphics corruption followed by a total freeze.

Same here. Plays fine then computer just dies completely, needs to be rebooted. Going to go look at Nvidia to see if they've got anything to say about this.
GeForce 8800 GTS

http://www.techpower.../SysInfo/GPU-Z/
Download it, run it and then navigate to the sensors tab. Check log to file and continue refreshing this screen while gpu-z is in the background.
You'll now be able to at least check and see if temperature is the culprit, and if you want to check the cpu temps you can grab this:

I'm running two 8800gtxs and the game heats them up pretty well. even after just a few minutes of play.

If you've tried everything else ( drivers, lowering all the settings, memtest, etc. ) then always check temps. Sometimes things will seem to be working great but almost all GPUs have a small fan that pulls air across enclosed fins. Those fins can get buildup of dirt and become clogged. I've seen them so bad that I had to remove the metal shroud to get the dirt out. However, before you do that you can easily test temps with this little app:

The thing is i have tried running other games some with higher min specs than dragonage and they run fine. So would that negate the possibility of a temperature problem?

Everything works fine at present.

I'm just offering suggestions here, and sorry if you've tried them all. The point is to narrow down the culprits, and then fix the problem.

I can only say I am disappointed at this stage, but am hopeful a fix will be found.

thanks for the help Dateranoth. i didn't mean to sound ungrateful i am grateful of any help offered to be honest.
Oh sorry, I didn't mean to sound like you were. I just felt bad that I didn't have any solid suggestions. I know how bad it can suck when you're one of the few that can't play for some reason. I've been on that side of things before, and thus why I know the routine.
Usually starts with a full system analysis. Running dxdiag.exe and saving all information to a txt is a start. Problem is this "tech support" site doesn't have anyway to upload anything and the file can be quite long. Best to externally host it somewhere and link it.
Then we go down the long lists of trial and error. Usually beginning with updating drivers. Then to the steps I mentioned with turning everything down to the lowest settings. Then more and more drastic steps.

gpu core clock: 600 mhz
gpu memory clock: 900 mhz
gpu temperature: 91.0 (all in degrees c)
pcb temp: 73
gpu temp: 83.5
pcb: 73
fan speed 41%
fan speed: 5414 rpm
those stats mean nothing to me as i don't know what normal is. heh.

Vista 32 SP2
Athlon 64 X2 6000+
GeForce 9800 GT
Even afer a fresh Vista installation the Game crashes every 5 Minutes.
CPU usage keeps constant at 100% and gets hotter and hotter... I thinks this is the key for the crashes.
