So maybe this will convince JironGhrad that it is not a problem with sound drivers or something like that. Maybe everyone who has not experienced the Chantry door crash was just lucky to have left Morrigan behind? Just guessing, because she as en evil witch of the wild and all ;o)

I've done all the usual fix strategies - upgraded (even down graded) drivers for the graphics card and soundcard and keyboard and mouse.
System specs are as follows
Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.090804-1435)
BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG
Pentium® D CPU 3.00GHz (2 CPUs)
2048MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c
NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT (512.0 MB) Driver Version: 6.14.0011.9107 (English)
Anyone else with this sort of set up experiencing a similar problem?

Just before that i installed patch, two DLC and changed anti-aliasing to x2.
After 3 crash i updated video driver. Didn't help.
I have an ATI 4850
This last time I changed anti-aliasing back to nothing and no crash. Have been playing fine for 1 hour after that.

Now, the best part: If I unclothe my whole party it works. In the Brecillian Forest I just had to take off the helmet of my main (it wasn't even a special helmet or a DLC one). But to get out of the Frostback Mountains I have to strip my whole party naked. What does that mean? This doesn't make any sense at all? Is it a texture effect on the armor? Is it a number of polygons on screen at a time? This is messed up.
EA's support site isn't any good and still no patch from Bioware. I can play and I like the game but it isn't any fun like this. Those are 76 Euros I regret spending. It sure isn't my PC. Every driver is up to date and I can play very recent and better looking games just fine. I shouldn't have to tweak my PC for just one game. And then only for certain spots.

0. Play normally with SB Audigy SE (up to date driver) with all graphics settings on High/Very High with 0x Anti-Aliasing (the way I play most games): CRASH
1. Disable audio from DA Launcher - WORKS!
2. Disable SB Audigy SE and enable my onboard Realtek HD - CRASH
3. Disable ffdshow - CRASH
4. Disable non-standard audio codecs - CRASH
5. Disable Avast antivirus - CRASH
6. Set in-game graphics quality to low - CRASH
7. Set ALL graphics settings to low or off (shadows, frame buffer effects, textures, etc) - WORKS! Without leaving the game, I change all in-game video options back to On/High and it still works...try to reload the savegame - CRASH
8. Set ALL graphics settings to high/very high and on like normal, EXCEPT for Texture Quality, which I set to Medium - WORKS! While in the game, reset textures to HIGH and try to load the savegame - CRASH.
So for me, it appears to be HIGH textures -- my video card has 512MB of RAM so maybe that's my problem, although I do not understand why disabling audio also works!?
I'll play for a while at Medium Textures to see if this indeed resolves the issue.

do you have the toolset CoinMatze?
No I don't. Why? Does that thing mess up the game even more?
I've got the German CE with every DLC I could get my hands on.
Intel C2D E6750 @ 3,2
Mushkin 4gig DDR2-8500 set to 800Mhz 4-4-4-12
Asus P5K Deluxe / Wi-Fi App
MSI RX 3870 OC Edition
Everything is custom cooled, overclocked and stable
Playing in 720p and using the onboard HD audio on Win7 64-bit
Just if my rig is the problem. Which it shouldn't be.

@CoinMatze - maybe you are having video memory problems like me also! maybe the clothing pushes your texture memory over the edge?

Like I said, I don't want to tweak my PC just for one game but I'll try playing around with my memory clocks. The thing that ticks me off the most is that the game runs fine. Just not on certain spots on certain maps.

Inside Chantry:
Medium Textures use ~350MB
High Textures use ~400MB
Inside Town:
Medium Textures use ~410MB
High Textures use ~450MB
If I have High Textures enabled when I try to enter the town, usage is only at 391MB when it crashes. I guess I'll just play on Medium until Bioware has more info.
@CoinMatze - game ran fine for me also until this spot. I was even able to walk through the town just fine the first time I came to it. It was only after I came back to a savegame in town that I started having problems. But after a few attempts to load it, I got in and was fine until I visited the Chantry. Very frustrating.

I have runned on every possible graph and sound setting.
I have updated every possible driver.
I have shut down every possible backround program.
I have emptied the temp files.
It still crashes randomly. It happens in dialogue, in loadscreen and in battle without any regularity. This is even though it plays FLAWLESSLY on even the highest setting. The loadtimes are very nice and short. I have NO other problems with this excellent game other than this but it really is starting to play on my nerves.
Win7
AMD Phenom II X4 810 processor 2.6GHz
RAM 3.25 (6installed but it only detects this amount)

Just to see if it works any better. But switching OS for 1 game? There my freaking limit.
I´ve put about 6hours into this now. Not getting anywhere storywise in the game.
