Im actually also curious if this is an issue of windows7.
Vista users have those crashes as well.
Honestly, there is no communication policy whatsoever that could excuse the lack of help bioware is giving us.

I still crash constantly.
I still haven't been past the Siege of Ostagar. No joke.
Between occasional extreme stuttering, memory leak, and crashes DAO was released completely unplayable (for me).
It blows too, because I really want to play it. Now I'm stuck with nothing to do but boring ol' WoW all day.
All I want is BioWare to say "We are aware of this and are working on a patch you can expect next week."

AMD 64s (except the Sempron) are all dual core if I remember correctly, try setting processor affinity through task manager... likewise, the minimum requirements for this game include a dual core processor... the fact that it does run on some single cores just means that those players are fortunate
The Sempron specs are so low that it really shouldn't be able to run this game... the L1 and L2 caches are smaller than the one I had on my Pentium 3 600Mhz... God help you if you "actually" have a Sempron
