Well, there's only so much you can do with a video game story...

No there's not only "so much you can do" you can do absolutely anything, including but not limited to hiring writers that are actually really great and creative.

Play KOTOR, that had a better story then star wars episode 1,2 and 3..........

Comparing a story that's really great as far as video games go to the worst cinematic blunder in history doesn't help your case. I mean honestly, I could crap better screenplays than George Lucas wrote for the prequels.

KOTOR is still a step above most video games, but lets not be silly.

Ok then I will just bring out BG2............

And I won't even bother trying to make a point because you've already made it for me. Fact is that video games are a long looooong ways away yet from being respected as art, and as good as Bioware's games are they really only excell as entertainment.

I'll give you this though, KOTOR is great because it does everything the original Star Wars and Empire did right, it focused on telling a story about character that you grow to care about.

KOTOR 2 is f*cking retarded for all the same reasons the prequels are.

Hope the rumoured post "revenge of the sith" pre "new hope" live action T.V series doesn't add to the anguish, or is that to much to ask.

Basically, if you can make it to the Palpatine vs. Mace Windu duel, it definitely improves. The sad part is Hayden Christansen 'looks' the part of Darth Vader. He was completely silent killing the younglings and the trade federation and he did great! It's when he opens his mouth and acts (and I'm using the term in the loosest sense here) that real problems came up.

Episode 3 was the only good one and that was because of the epic battle between Vadar and Obi.

That, and the dramatic galactic scale slaughter of the Jedi, that was also good, but agree, episode one and two were serious mistakes.

order 66 was very well done, but realy you had to suffer through out the movie to get to the good parts. Episode 1 and 2 where just piles of crap baked over easy and left to dry.

Haaha!  Yeah so true!

i am very critical on the epsiode 1,2 and 3 since I am a hard core star wars fan. I was at the release for epsiode 4,5 and 6 (not called that back then) and read all the books. I love star wars!

The biggest flaw is that they never made the connection between Hayden's wimpy Anakin and James Earl Jones' Vader. How the hell did he turn into such a bad ass?

Unfortunately, your point has yet to be made. Why can video games not yet be considered art yet? Whether they are 'respected' is an issue of time, not dedication. What's preventing Kotor? It's already crossed many lines which films and novels are unable to. And why exactly is Kotor 2 "****ing retarded"? It was honestly better in almost every way until Lucasarts forced the Christmas release. Ex: Kreia.

But I still find your comparison of it to how the prequel trilogy came out rather weak.

I wished they would have gotten a good VA and Hayden just lip sycned. He ruined Annakin, good thing Vader is still the best because of Earl!

I'm sorry but no, Episode 3 is awful in every way that Episodes 1 and 2 are. It's utterly full of awkward poorly acted scenes, characters you don't care about at all and the story jumps around like a hampster on crack.

In fact it's worse because it actually connects to the original films in such a way that almost makes them worse. That's an unforgiveable sin right there.

Splosions do not make stories great, k? That's not why the original Star Wars and Empire are great, and it's not why those few moments in Jedi where you're not waiting around or hanging out with teddy bears or disgusting looking muppets are either.

KoTOR 2's biggest issue (aside from the rush) was tying itself to KoTOR 1. The series should have been an anthology.

The death of his wife. Vadar wants nothing but the death of Palpatine. That is reflected in the force unleahsed (good story, crappy gameplay)

Are you trying to tell me that the last part of the movie sucked? Are you kidding me, any star wars fan will tell you thats the only reason why they suffer through the movie. After order 66 the movie is is good.

KOTOR 2 should have run parallel, and it should have been finished (hey Carth, why must you stalk my exile to stalk Revan, Revan hated you, you know)(Hey lets go here oh wait the game is ending, wait what is going on I don't even...)

damn you lucasarts damn you all to hell!

(...I still liked KOTOR 2 more than KOTOR, but then again I played both for the first time one right after each other)

Man, hearing Vader say Padme was painful. Like some unholy union of the prequels and my beloved trilogy. *Shudder.

Also for you Farscape fans out there, Tarkin at the end was played by Scorpius.

Oh please, Obsidian may not have been writing like Dosteovsky, but these guys know the value of writing and are trying their best to better it. What I like about them is how they turn an annoying trope, provide their critique, and twist it a way that's recognizable yet new.

Too bad their games are just moody. Sometimes, it's more entertaining to turn off your brain and appreciate another HK-47 wannabe.

I'm trying to tell you that the entire movie sucked because it was nothing but a giant pile of sh*t on everything you ever hoped the origins of Darth Vader and the Empire would be.

Force Unleashed, heard rumours that Sam Witwer, the  actor behind the face and voice of the lead of that game could be in the rumoured TV series Lucas wants to do. Fingers crossed there's still magic in the franchise though, not just dust and faded memories...
