Or it could be that Dink simply doesn't like ME2 as much as he wanted to. I'm just saying that's also a possibility. You can't just dismiss someone's complaints (as heated as Dink can be about them) by saying "oh he's just saying this because of [insert easy thing to blame here]."

Also, while speedreading all those old posts (and trust me, I read superfast), I noticed that he goes through the 5 stages of grief from ME1 to ME2 as he slowly realizes that Liara will not have any significant role in the game.

Grief (and perhaps the accompanying irritability that follows) should be reserved for the meaningful things or loved ones that you lose in real-life -- NOT a fictional blue alien from a computer game.

Seriously?

Denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance?

That's quite scary, too.

He throws insults in the middle of all those complaints. It's fairly difficult to defend or side with him at that point.

That's...the funniest thing I've read on these forums, ever.
Perfect way to end the night. Thanks, Ecael.

Well I guess this thread is proof of why I don't make personal attacks.

It completely does not matter, it is not the topic, and is just an attack to discredit the person and prevent others from considering his future opinions.
Seems that attacking a person is just as good as making a logical point on these boards, which is a sad state.

I know we're not suppose to interact with one another but any attack against that poster is justified.... Don't go telling people to not attack/discredit dink because you will just end up getting attacked by this obsessive forum poster and even before the forums shifted to the bioware social site, this guy has been bashing other people and anybody that does not like liara.

If he can never be civilized for one moment, how can you expect any of us to not bash and discredit this guy?

You and Ecael are flaming Dink.  If the reason you give for this is that he is being uncivilized, why don't you take a look at some of your recent posts, tell me whether or not they are civilized, then try to justify yourself again.
If you don;t like someone's posts, pm or ignore them.  Flaming is just going to egg someone on.  Or if you are the type of person who likes to be in the middle of everything, and it's pointing that way, then go ahead, continue your flaming.

i'll be passing out the virtual popcorn.

Don't the posters reading this thread find it out how it has been derailed into a harassment thread of someone? I for one am calling attention to that and asking for a civil discussion on the topic.
Topic: The "feel" of ME1 vs ME2

You do realize that Dinky, the very person you are trying to defend was the one that derailed this thread? And not to be rude but you're policing, while for good intentions ,its adding oil to the fire.

I agree. Unfortunately they're not going to leave...the Tali thread is full of trolls that ruin it for everyone, for instance :l

Which I always found interesting (if ultimately unsurprising, given the social characteristics of a forum troll), because for all that Tali does have legions and legions of fans, they actually don't tend to be offensive to anyone else. They tend to stay over there in the Tali thread (which I'll admit to posting in, off and on) being harmless to everyone.

People hate Tali not because she's Tali, but simply because others love her. Ain't social dynamics wonderful, kids?

Let's be clear. I'm not defending Dink in particular or anything that he says. But TJSolo has a point. The thread has become very off topic and very "everyone against someone else." I'm just suggesting that everyone relax and get back to normal discussion.

If people insult you or call you names, or you think you can't have a normal mature argument with them, PM a moderator or dev about it. Don't just pick up the pitchforks and torches.

Good lord haven't you missed the part where he admitted to masturbating to a fictional character??

For real? Now I'm even more scared. Are you sure you're not in league with Ecael trying to make me hide under my desk until the bad man goes away?

I loved both games equally but for different reasons. ME1 felt like you had an entire galaxy to explore and it really felt as though the Normandy was "yours" and you can enter and exit as you please. Also, the elevators although a pain in the rear at times, they weren't so bad in the Citadel because it gave you a feeling of a real community from the radio broadcasts. Also the original Citadel from ME1 felt like a real city in space; and sure the Citadel in ME2 was smaller because it had to be rebuilt in a short amount of time. But the Normandy in ME2 was also really cool because it was much larger and you could upgrade it, too bad you couldn't actually fire off the Thanix cannon at stuff before the cinematic while entering the Collector base; also having EDI on the ship was another thing I liked since it was "intended" that she can help you get used to your new living quarters. Another thing was the freedom of Mass Effect 1, driving in the mako was fun for me even though all the buildings you end up in only have 2 or three different layouts; Mass Effect 2 felt too linear to me, you go, you complete your mission, you are forced to scan a bit (if you even want to come close to surviving the end) then you complete another mission and it feels like a basic shooter in terms of mission structure.

I actually like both games. I tend to try not to be biased in my post. The thing that bugged the most out of me2 was how Female Shepard talked to Jacob. Trying to talk to the guy is like walking in to a mine field.....

The other thing, that bugged me was how in both games the characters would get into your line of fire. However, I'd chalked that up too the AI.  Another thing, was in Me1 you never left the docking bay unless you wanted too, but in Me2 you leave the docking bay after the mission is compelted,

"ME2s focus on shooter gameplay and cinematic conversations cant
override my own view that in all the import areas, I consider ME1 the
far superior game.  By comparison to ME1, ME2 was a ****** and mediocre shooter title"

Thats what Dink said on page one, he started this and when we tried to say ME2 was a good game, he starts insulting us. He started, we ended it. Hes a troll, plain and simple. Also lets get back on topic guys. If we want to argue, lets make a massive pm :wizard:

Compare those to my posts so far, and you'll see that he'll quickly dismiss everything just so he can continue believing he's right. And when he's about to face the fact that he's wrong (or that most people are against him) he leaves. He simply isn't civil.

The least he can do is apologize, but I'm assuming he has too much pride to do that as well.

My main gripe with ME 2 was that it was too damn linear.  At the beginning of ME 1, you had no friggin' clue that Soverign has sentient, that the Citadel was a Mass Relay, or the intentions of the Reapers.  The story was all built around mystery, with the character constantly trying to figure out Saren's motives and so on.

In ME 2, everything, from the NPC's to the trailers, tells you what to expect: Assemble a team of badasses to go through a evil-looking mass relay to save humanity.  Also, you're boned.  With the exception of about 10 or so plot twists, the player pretty much knew what to expect before the game even began.  The mysterious aspects are what made ME 1 so damn exciting, especially because we were all being introduced to a brand new view of our galaxy with tons of new alien races that we'd never seen before.  The linear feel of ME 2 combined with knowing the galaxy so well already is what helped ME 1 stay on top (IMO).

As for your problem, like I said before, it was simply because the galaxy of Mass Effect was nothing new to the majority of us.  Because we knew it so well, it just lacked anything to get us excited over, besides the fact that the game universe was going to be expanded tenfold, in the realms of both character development and galactic development.  ME 2 is still amazing, but it will probably never have the mysterious feel that it had in ME 1 ever again.  And yet, I'm fine with this (there's really no point to completely recreate the galaxy that we have all known and loved for so long).

I could ignore him, but nearly everyone on this thread wants to bash him, and given his reputation for wanking off the a fictional character, its hard not to insult him.
