Would love to hear all and sundries opinion on this.  Considering on my 2nd playthrough Thane was the only one that died - recruitment possible? Although it would all go against what Thane wanted for his son.

Whiny emo drell. No, they're not going to have replacement characters just for dead squad mates (as in not being able to recruit Kolyat if Thane survived) unless they're incredibly foolish.

He's nice enough, as far as I can tell. He only gets a couple lines, not really enough to form a solid opinion. He's young, inexperienced, wet-behind-the-ears, but he could become an interesting character some time in the future.

I didn't think he was whiny or emo. He has justified daddy issues that, hopefully, he is trying to work through. I could see him going in to C-Sec and maybe work his way to head of Citadel Security some day. Could be a good set up for defense-against-the-Reapers.

I have nothing against the kid personally, but wouldn't recruit him if he dropped down on his knees and begged.

He's too young, dumb and immature, a kid with a gun, nothing more, nothing less.

Similar to the kid on Omega, during Garrus' recruitment mission and we all know what happens to him, if you don't take the gun off him - I have a hunch something similar would happen to Kolyat if Shepard recruited him.

He wouldn't last a day.

Why wouldnt they have replacements - especially as in this case where Thane is supposedly dying? Thats if Bioware carry through on that (seems a lot of people want to find a cure for him) Not that I would recruit or romance him, in either case my fem Shep is into older men..... Posted Image and another thread suggested his age maybe 18-19?  Too young too inexperienced - although if I had let him become an assassin....

Because most people have most if not all squad mates survive. Making replacements would be making squad mates for a minority of players, an ineffective use of resources.

Wow it's like one drell is just like another drell so if one drell wanders off then you can just slap on another one and it will be the same! And it's like, like, Kolyat has all the experience in his whole 17-19 years of life where he has had absolutely no training and never done anything of remote importance or even killed a guy and can't even land a job without pawning off his dad's name is, like, RIGHT ON PAR with said dad who underwent intensive training from the age of six years old to the point where he had absolutely no other skills because he was born and bred to be a pure killing machine who went on to accumulate decades of experience performing his job to the point where he caught the eye of the galaxy's most entrepreneurial holder of dossiers! I'm sure said father would have no problem with his young pup of a son being ripped away from the life he wanted for him and made to be a killer just like him, because that must be what he always wanted for the boy! Seamless!

Snark aside, no. Just... no.

I love Kolyat to pieces but he has absolutely no skills, especially not skills anywhere near the level of Thane's, and he never will. He might make a good cop/vigilante-esque helping Bailey down in the wards but he lacks training and as of yet has no discipline. That and he's extremely young and in no position to help Shepard with anything. There are a hundred better candidates for recruitment than he.

He has a chance to grow into his own as a character and make something of himself once his bitterness heals over, but entertaining the thought of him as a competent squadmate or romance is silly. He has nothing of worth to contribute and what he does have he almost bungled completely.

Yes very true - I am probably gonna get cut down for this but I really didnt care if Thane died.... (ducks head just in case)...... But I know I am going to play again and try and save everyone, or kill everyone - mmm will just depend on my mood at the time....

I suddenly would very much like to see Kolyat and random-Omega-child-pretending-to-be-a-mercenary use their skillz to work together towards "pro" dom.

As for Kolyat: I didn't think he was emo or whiny. He had completely justifiable reasons for being upset with Thane's absence--his perfect drell memory only accentuates his reasoning, IMO.

What could anyone see in Kolyat? He doesn't even have the flare and skills as Thane does. He's a chump.

Thane is an amazing character. I don't want to see him replaced by anyone.

maybe he could just be an informant in csec... give you some classified stuff... other than that-i dont see him going leaps and bounds to be a Squady/LI....

or do you mean a fling... like kelly? Mr Krios might not appreciate that lol XD

I don't see them arbitrarily making fairly inconsequential NPCs like Kolyat squad mates in ME3.
