i had to update to windows 7 to fix some problems today and i found dragon age is now running smoother in general but the sounds sometimes screw up pretty badly. Strange thing is it seems ot be fairly common  but not consistent
i uninstalled all the soundblaster stuff and installed the windows 7 versions.

can talk to one guy over and over and get "what do you want?" and "whatttttttttttttttttt do you want?" and other lesser variants

music plays with no problems at all

just hoping anyone has any ideas on a fix
sound card is a sound blaster x-fi extreme audio and i'm not getting problems in itunes or testing with windows sounds

Drivers for win7 are fairly new. I have an x-fi titanium fatality pro and have no issues with audio in this game. Just make sure you are getting windows 7 drivers from creative instead of using drivers that windows may have installed.

Even better would be to install X-fi support pack http://forums.guru3d...ad.php?t=307945 unless creative have a later revision.

well, after uninstalling everything by creative labs and reinstalling current driver from the website, trying the unofficial driver you linked, uninstalling again and going through with drivesweeper, manually going through directories and registry and deleting, disabling the card and trying onboard sound, moving the card around on the motherboard until i found a slot that gave it it's own irq, etc etc etc
I've come to the conclusion that simply doing a windows 7 upgrade was exceptionally stupid of me and a clean install is the only cure for the vista cancer and lo and behold after format and clean install the sound works perfect with the drivers  that windows update installed by itself. Though i must admit i seem to be in a constant state of fear that it will start up again and i'm just on a long lucky streak  also hesitant to put bitdefender back on even though i assume all the silliness it was doing was upgrade corruption based

on another note i can finally install and update itunes since that retarded corrupt untouchable bonjour thing is finally gone... yay(i seriously think apple designed itunes with making windows users miserable in mind)

just reporting finding in case anyone else gets that annoying stuttering crap. it simply makes the game un-p-p-p-p-p-p-playable
