And I still don't have a clue whats going on.
Does anyone else? Something about time? The Devil? Smoke? Alternate timeline? Baby stealing?

All you need to know is that it wasn't Penny's boat.

Basically they reset past events, but this caused a divergent timeline which cause the timeline where the plane did crash and the timeline where the plane didn't crash.



It seems like the Island is there to protect corruption (the Smoke Monster) from escaping the Island.



I could go on for pages, but I try to keep things simple.



Also Claire is corrupted, she wanted to kill everyone in order to get her baby back until the Smoke Monster set her right.

I've never seen even a minute of Lost, but it never quite struck me as the kind of TV series with alternate timelines and boogey-man smoke monsters...

EDIT:  yeah if you haven't watched this show and just read this thread only knowing that it was about a plane crash, man this show seems strange.

There's really no way to explain 5 1/2 seasons of Lost without writing an encyclopedia. If you're really interested, you can stream every episode on ABC.com. It will take you week or two to get through them all if you watch regularly.

Lost was an interesting one season experiment in weirdness and mystery.



It fell apart when they realized they had a hit show on their hands and NO explanations for all the crap they pulled in Season One - hence you get 4+ seasons of filler/back filler/attempts to weave a cohesive story around the first season's weirdness.

Not at all. BSG is beyond corny.  I've only ever made it through about 25 minutes of an episode.
