Yeah I really liked Sigrun. I wanna see her in future expansions or DLC's. I hope you can have ''deeper'' convos with her aswell. Velanna and Howe weren't bad either tbh (speaking of ''eye candy''), but Sigrun is the best
This is the Voice Actor for Sigrun btw

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. As for being ugly..now if she had warts and blotches, and lots of wrinkles..maybe she would be ugly. But she's not.

Anyway, regarding the lack of female warriors-- yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing a few either, but Sigrun is a pretty warrior-like rogue. I didn't even use the warriors much in Awakening, and I didn't miss them. I probably played through more than half of the game with three rogues and a mage.

Now, that aside, I was very upset about Mhairi. I was actually hoping that Mhairi would be that really close companion that you ALWAYS use no matter what (I was that way with Sten in Origins). In Awakenings, I tend to always use Anders since he really grew on me and Sigrun as well.
If I think about who I would romance, then it'd be Nathaniel Howe... at least if I played my female noble. Were I to play any of my other female characters (elf and dwarf), I'd probably go after Anders. I just think that my HFN has a connection with Howe that sprung through tragedy... because if you think about it, he was betrayed by his father too, at least in a sense.
Oh and for threads sake - I'd totally boink Anders. He's hot. Zomg.

Oddly I didn't find Nathaniel too attractive at first but they say familiarity breeds contempt...I think it just breeds comfortability cause I found him more and more attractive the more I looked at him (though that probably had more to do with how much he changes and shows his true colors as you get to know him).
Y'know, I was noticing this as well. I don't really consider any character "eye candy" but I tend to be attracted to the funny, smart, and shy types, so the more I got to know Alistair in DAO the more I came to find him physically attractive. Nathaniel too started out looking like a beat up version of Zevran to me, but after so many hours in he seemed to soften up, scowl less, and came across like a gentleman rather than a vengeful brute.

all I'm suggesting is, that maybe... just maybe BioWare could have given the rest of us (what... 80% is that a good estimate?) just a tiny bit of candy for the eyes... am I right or am I right?
all we got was a carrot on a stick
I couldn't take them seriously in World Wrestling Entertaiment, let alone DA: Origins.
pah... sif dwarfs would do any better.... and btw, what planet do you live on??.... ever heard of Lara Croft! ... seriously, some people....

At the joining you know just enough about the character to stereotype her, and the most pertinent thing about her is her approval bar and how you want to develop her as a tank class party member.
Sure, so they needed a tank character to escort you through the prologue. But why not keep her _and_ add in one of the party members from Origins to take her dramatic-plot-twist place in the joining?
I mean in Origins you go through the joining and you think, well, that was interesting but I knew I'd survive 'cos I'm the star. You don't really empathise with Duncan or Alistair when they talk about how harrowing it is to lose people. How powerful would it have been if Wynne or Sten had croaked after all you've been through with them?
I think the writers took the safe way out with Mhairi's joining. But at least she was more interesting than Daveth or Jory.

Exactly. Not that part, the approval bit. Who didn't notice that Jory and Daveth wheren't leveling and think "hmm... Perhaps they might not be here much longer"? They made her a proper companion to try and make her death supprising. Unfortunately I made the mistake of coming on these forums before I started playing and say a thread called something like "Mhairi's joining... OMG", I wonder what that could've meant?ChaosUndivded wrote...
i still wonder why mhairi had approval ratings if they were going to axe her inside of 5 minutes.. meh, had my hopes up if i made her like me maybe she'd survive.. but like the arl of denerims guards said in the elf origin.. she's still warm, how picky can you be >_>

Heh, they should've made it leli/zev depending on romances, they'd have to close the forums down and go into hiding, from me if no one else.munrohk wrote...
I think the whole plot twist thing pretty
generally failed. You don't spend nearly enough time with Mhairi to
develop enough attachment to her. The only 'investment' you put into
her as a player is a calculative one after the second chat when you see
that she approves/disapproves.

In George R R Martin's Song of Ice and Fire series he isn't afraid to crack hero skulls. It works, those books are amazing, and it makes the labels 'Dark Fantasy' for Dragon Age and 'Dark Second Chapter' for Mass Effect 2 look childish. Within gaming, the 'dark' label doesn't stand up to comparisons with Bioshock's story, or even Modern Warfare 2's.
You never get pushed out of your comfort zone in either of these games, either in a story driven sense or gameplay-wise. Situations where you're captured? You get your stuff back in 2 minutes unless you fall victim to a glitch. Heh, the only despair you ever feel playing dragon age is when a bug ruins your game and you've been over an hour without a save.
