Ripping the cheating theory

I’m sure like a lot of people who played me 1 had a love interest and had no clue that their main character would die at the being of me 2. Likewise, I’m sure most of you have heard that little interview that mentions ramifications for “cheating” and after that stunt on Horizon or people pulling a people pulling a 180 personality shift and for the fact of player death for 2 years, why? I hope that part of interview was some early April Fool’s joke for me 3 release or to get people to play me 1 again.
Now, in mass effect 2 it states or, at least suggests the relationship over. Shephard could talk to Joker or Kelly (if Love interest is human) about the relationship, I haven’t seen all the answers but I’m pretty sure all the choices acknowledge the relationship is over.
The event at Horizon is not necessary to prove my point instead, lets focus on the letter. Lets start with Ash, clearly after reading her letter your feeling all revitalized and content with your former love interest and want to give her a second chance well don’t be fooled. I’ll boil the letter to this. Ash – “ Shepard everyday I prayed and read poet, remember that night at Ilos I haven’t thought about in a year”. Kaidan’s is pretty much the same except more direct. There both do the maybe about starting the relationship up again. Now, on to Liara if you’ve heard the audio files then that should be enough or thiswww.youtube.com/watch.
There are other reason concerning Shepard’s death and the process of dying. Clearly, if someone dies and comes back to life they’d reevaluate people in their life.
I do think there should be ramifications for not being content; if you get back together with a me 1 interest in me 3 and not break it with me 2 interest.
But, if they are going to with this stick with this not being content with abusive me 1 interest angle the question is why?

I believe you should be able to tell your previous LI that you do not want to continue the relationship anymore because of the petty way they treated you. I don't think there should be dire ramifications.
Someone else could look at it and say that maybe your new LI could look at how you brushed off your previous one and would think the same could happen to the relationship. If Shep has no difficulty getting rid of one LI, what would stop them from brushing off the other eventually? That's one way there could be a negative effect. I hope there are different ways to handle the situation in ME3 instead of what sounds like a single detrimental outcome.

Still, though. Why can't you dump them? Be able to fire back a "HEY, **** YOU" email.

I imagine the consequences that Bioware is saying is one of these:
a) The ME1 love interest gets hurt.
c) ME1 love interest can no longer be pursued
d) Both love interests can no longer be pursued
I'd go with A as most likely if I had to say.

Only if you don't "cheat." Then Shepard puts the picture face down. And Kaidan was casually dating but wasn't really feeling it.enormousmoonboots wrote...
I don't understand why there's no option to dump them at any time in ME2. Everyone else seems to believe you're broken up (hell, Kaidan is dating again!), but Shepard still stubbornly clings to that picture.

What will happen to those that cheated? That's up to BioWare, but something needs to happen. Personally, I'd go so far as to say you should not only lose the ME1 LI as friend/squadmate, but your ME2 LI should be kind upset at you, for the fact you had someone else and cheated. They should question rather you're going to cheat on them next, making the romance start to come into question and be much harder to move forward.

Odd, cause I dragged Tali into Liara's office and they didn't have anything to say to each other.
Also:
Liara quite pointedly says "friend" and not lover/mate during the paragon job refusal. Liara's also up for a threesome. So much for undivided moonfaced loyalty.
ps:
Quit romanticizing. If BW chooses for things to have ramifications, they will.

Shep still keeps the picture, though. And puts it back up if you dump the ME2 romance. That indicates attachment.Collider wrote...

I think some of your interactions get a little more interesting if you didn't romance anyone in ME1. Ash/Kaidan and Liara clearly still have feelings for Shepard, judging by how the first two treat your dead/Cerberus status as a personal betrayal and the third went to hell and back for you. Your interactions are really sort of built around the assumption that you romanced one of them; I remember on my no-romance save I told Kelly I had no feelings for Kaidan and got Renegade points for it. Wha?

Well, now that I think about it, it might MEAN a leave the squad situation. That would be DEVASTATING and a real consequence.

I doubt it would be leaving the squad. That seems to place too much power in the romance subplots. At most, both relationships may end, but I personally would expect (not want) that the ME1 and/or the ME2 romance interests being hurt and Shepard having to choose between them.
Other than a cheeseball encounter sequence that is hardly a major consequence. All Bioware games have had the "choose me!!!!" conversation. Baldurs Gate II had the most interesting, as it would slowly build up with the characters snipping at each other and interrupting one the others conversations. I hope we have some similar drama in ME 3, if nothing else.

Imported Shepard, no glitch. There's no picture and no email, so the game doesn't think she's in a romance with him. It's just Kelly and Joker who talk about him as if they had this big sexual tension will they/won't they thing going on, whereas I actually never talked to him at all in that save. Guess the game didn't predict for Shepard's aggressive friendzoning...Xaijin wrote...

Why wouldnt you stay loyal to them? The ME2 romances were shallow and not very interesting, conveyed great emotions, but not very interesting. Ash is the best LI IMO and I cant wait for ME3.

Well, (Speaking for Ash) Ash sends you a e-mail admitting she still has feelings for you, and she doesnt know what will happen between each of you, but she cant lose you again implying she still has feelings for you, which will continue the relationship in ME3.

Problem is, do you still believe you had the relationship going into ME2? Other than Liara, after being dead for two years, I would have expected them to be over it for the most part. Hell, Shepard only know Kaiden/Ash for a matter of months, and even then only talked about a relationship a couple times.
After spending two years dead, I run into them, and they treat me like utter ****? Ignore everything I said and have the nerve to call me a traitor when I'm the only one trying to save the gorram galaxy? I'm sorry, but that relationship is very much over. There is no 'cheating' going on.
No sane person would believe they were still in a relationship with someone in this situation. Both Ash and Kaiden's e-mails state that they might be interested in picking it back up, but they've got a rude awakening coming on most of my characters.

I didn't do the male romances, so I can't speak of those...
Actually you are probably the HUGEST jerk if you cheat on Jack in ME 3, whether or not she is in the squad. I hope if you do, you get the "Mission Failure" screen.

I don't think all the ME 2 relationships were shallow. I think Jack was pretty good, though a lot of people neglected her due to the appearance and attitude she had. I actually liked Miranda as well. Tali is, well Tali. You either love her or hate her.

Jack's was pretty awesome, if clichéd.
