This seems to happen in both Mass Effect 1 and 2. Randomly the game will lock up on me, but then kick back in about 20 or so seconds later. It also only seems to happen with the Mass Effect games too so not sure why.

System is:

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Intel Core 2 Duo 3.00 GHz
ATI Radeon HD 4870
4GB of RAM

Both DirectX and my video card drivers are up to date as well.
