Quarians and a new World.

Now all I have to say is: Really, council? Seriously? Why would you possibly deny colonization rights to a species who no longer posess any planets to live on?
And while we're on the subject: Really, Quarians? Seriously? I understand why you're holding out for the homeworld today because of how long it would take your immune systems to adapt to a new one, but this wasn't a problem 250 years ago. Why did you wait so freaking long?
I just feel like in the ME universe habitable planets are all over the place, there is no clear reason to me as to why the Quarians haven't been able to go live on a single one. Even establishing a settlement on a world already colonized by another species. I'm sure there's dozens of planets like Horizon that only have a few settlements, and a population of 17 million is the size of one major city. There would be plenty of room for them to stay, even if the people who got "first dibs" on the planet only wanted them to stay temporarily until the Quarians found a planet of their own.
Does anybody else think the whole migrant fleet thing is unjustified? I find it silly to believe that they didn't find a single unclaimed habitable planet in 300 years or get help from even one other species' government during that time.

Why would the Council side in favor of illegal and hostile A.I.'s against a member an ally of the Citadel?
Truly the Council is a noble entity.

Well not helping them against the Geth is at least understandable on the grounds that if the Geth are strong enough to drive an entire species nearly to extinction, getting into a war with a power like that would be extremely costly both in terms of resources and loss of life. I can understand not wanting to provoke that.
However, not helping out the Quarians who escaped afterward seems ridiculous.

Who said that being dicks to the Quarians means favoring the Geth?
The Geth don't care what the Quarians do outside their space. The Council just like kicking the Quarians when they're down as an example to any other race thinking of making AIs.

Council history said exactly that. The point is, the Council has no right to hold any grudge against the quarians because the continued existence of the geth, and the threat they pose, is not the quarians' fault alone. The Council had the opportunity to intervene and they didn't. They could have saved countless lives if they'd gotten involved before the geth achieved victory. In fact if they were concerned about the geth being wiped out they could have forced a truce between both sides via' superior firepower.

Whoops, the artificial intelligences are intelligent, let's kill them.
Whoops the AIs didn't like us trying to kill them.
Whoops, my PDA is kicking my ass, FLEEEE!
It takes time to get used to that fact that your ancestors were that amazingly stupid when your race is all about family. Maybe they will find themselves a nice planet when they come to terms with the whole event.

The Quarians humped the pooch on such an epic scale that it may take another 500 years for them to get over it.

Look at how they don't even cover up the fact that they started the war with the Geth, but still justify it by saying the Geth would've exterminated them anyway... for no good reason.
I bet when first contact was made with the humans, the Quarians got hold of copies of the Terminator and all seasons of Battlestar Galactica and went "You see! You see! Our ancestors were right all along!"

Now, if you go around the galaxy map a few of the planets you can look at show in their histories that the Quarians tried to petition the Citadel council for colonization rights but for whatever reason got denied.

Well apparently there are still a few planets out there where you can settle down without Council permission. Horizon comes to mind, at least until the humans got there. With the biggest fleet around and some of them free to be turned into genuine warships once the civilians are on the ground, who's going to pester you?

The could colonize almost any habitable planet and live in their suits on a solid ground.
Then instead of worrying about ships failure, they could study how to boost their immune system.

Though I wonder why no Quarian ships have ever said screw it and settled on some remote world anyway.

In light of the war crimes committed against the Krogan by the species represented in the Council it seems hypocritical at best. Yeah, the Council is clearly just as fallible as any other governing head.

They had every reason to fear the geth. Shutting the geth down was the rational decision considering the information available to them at the time.

What, that the Geth were becoming sapient?
How would that be a rational decision for anyone other than overlords who feared losing control of their slaves?

Yeah, that millions of machines were becoming true A.I. despite not being designed to do so. That's dangerous, very dangerous. Especially when you consider how numerous and integrated the geth were in quarian society. The proof that this fear was valid is in the final result: the geth won the war. This means the geth were a powerful force to be reckoned with.
I don't hold it against the geth that they fought back (to a point), but it is important to remember that the quarians were acting in self defense as well.
