I liked both, and I like hardcore RPGs, but ME works better as a shooter/RPG hybrid that is smooth and easy to play, unlike Dragon Age which works perfectly as the deeper RPG it is.
Different things are good, they appeal to separate desires in the same or different individual.

The only thing I find better in ME1 is the Mako, both when landing on planets and having it in actual missions. Other than that I find ME2 significantly better.

This is the only place I've seen people so up in arms about "ME1". Like it's some sort of legendary special game that the sequel needs to "live up to". I don't get it.
It's not a terrible game but it's not all that either. It's glitchy, repetitive, bug ridden, has kinda terrible combat, horrific texture pop in, and an extremely clunky inventory system. I know the story is great, but this isn't a novel, it's a game....and as a game "ME1" isn't that good. To put it into perspective the obviously superior PC port wasn't even made by Bioware.
Anyway, long story short to suggest someone is trolling because they think "ME2" is better than "ME1"....or that "ME1" is a bad game....it's silly.
LOL you need to read the post that was replied to. It isn't about differing opinions. It is about how insulting Dudebag is in his post towards the OP. Liking one or the other is perfectly fine. The insult was not needed and makes the rest of his post look belligerent.
Also the statement of ME1 not being that good, hilarious as it is has generally high reviews and has won GOTY and RPG of the year.
The abrasive statements, exaggerations, and insult is why his post looks green. Nothing to do with ME2
Yup,TJ nailed it
People can have differing opinions but from my vantage point, when I see a negative post about ME2 its followed up with whys and whats and how to make it better. Not just a statement that its the worst game Bioware ever made (which its not, far far from actually).
And only time I see a ME1 was better poster attacked is when they start up with the NONSENCE that pro ME1 side is in the majority (its not and anyone with grade 3 or higher addition skills could see that).
which leaves us with the only mature and productive way to respond to the kid I responded to is:

When hes ready for a mature and intellegent discussion, he should present a mature and intellegent arguement/opinion he wants to discuss.

Some of the point that have been brought up are getting old by both sides are getting old.
Me1
Better story
Combat sucked I'll have to agree on that
had Party banter
Had better Characters
level Design sometimes sucked
"Boring characters" Something I tend not too agree with
Me2
Bad Story
To liner! I think there was a Illusion given that Me1 had freedom to choice which part of the story to follow.
No party banter which is something I liked about ME1
No Immersion I tend to agree
No Replay Value, is something I agree with

haha majority. As if anyone that calls ME1 a masterpeice needs the approval from the majority.
One mans masterpeice is another mans picture of a lady with a crooked smile.
YMMV

The OP states his opinion and some (admittedly very flawed) arguments and suddenly it turns into an idiotic flamewar between Kalfear and his accomplices, who apparently refuses evidence even when shown directly in front of him and repeated 10 times (seriously if you despise this game so damn much and claim ME1 was so good then why do you even bother coming here, not to mention that you answer logic with personal insults and swears and then claim them to be children) and a bunch of trolls (which i may be as well depending on your opinion) who constantly repeat the same thing without stating arguments at all, and flame everyone who dares state their dislike for the game.
Regardless of your opinion i suggest we all refrain from insulting each other (which i have done too above but hell hypocrisy is awesome) and discuss the topic at hand instead of just raging what we think and claiming others to be wrong for stating their opinions.

Pointing out aspects which can be potentially better is not whining, flaming or trolling. Its feedback.
to summon these things up again:
-immersion
-character progression
-freedom/exploration

Personal insults and the simple comparison ME2 vs ME1 are pointless alltogether. What matters is which elements in ME2 can be improved, where ME1, other BioWare games, RPGs and shooters in general can be used as reference.

As long as the complaints make some sort of sense, I would like to debate about it civilly, but this list of complaints are downright ridiculous.
And then there is this tiring and needless remarks about "EA ruining my favorite all time game franchise" thing yet again. Need I say more?
I am so baffled by these complaints. There have been a lot of complaints about ME2 to be sure, and some of them raised very valid concerns. I particiapted in some of them and actually could agree with some of those complaints. Not all games end up being perfectly suited to everyone's preference after all.
But to make complaints just for the sake of complaining, throwing out bunch of arguments like this... is just another attempt at trying to get a desperately sought attention, in an internet forum, of all places.
Absolutely pathetic.

I did read it. Aside from saying "the OP is full of sh*t" his whole post was saying "ME2 is better than ME1". Ironically the post I quoted by Kalfear was just as disrespectful as the one he quoted, so I don't get your point. It's two guys with different opinions being more or less equally disrespecful. The difference is, I don't see rage over "ME1" being such a great superior game outside of this forum.

The "ME1" review scores though are conveniently legit. Why? Because they agree with those scores. Like someone said a few posts ago, it's blatant hypocrisy.
