Why do you read them? It's bad for your heart. Take a beer (I would suggest a proper Belgian one) and play some ME2.ramdog7 wrote...

Right, gameplay and graphics may have been improved but the ME2 story was forgettable. Lack of compelling storyline and a lack of feeling 'connected' with the gameplay universe kills replay chances for me, unfortunately.
This. Yeah the individual writing wasnt bad, but it was so disconnected and relied upon the "new shooter combat" to prop it up, it finished up being an utterly forgettable experience.
Definitely one of the most disappointing "main plots" Ive played in a while. Little more than a "shopping list" that finishes up as an "epic sooeyside mishin!!!"
more like "oh no my LI isn't in me2 cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry /blame fault on others"

Yea bro, that and the VS threads, and the trolls, and the people who call people trolls because they don't like certain things or vise versa. And its never enough for these people, they get free DLC with a veichle that is clearly something BioWare wanted us to test out, and yet they **** that the missions suck, but they were good for testing out, very good for that I think. Now we prob wont get the HH or an updated HH/Mako in ME 3 because of the ****ing, and pointless posts about how ea has ruined bioware and how ME 2 or ME 1 sucks, these things contantly come up in every topic esp constructive criticism topics. This site can def be lame at times, esp lately.

The only drawbacks on ME2 is the mineral scanning which is a bad way to break immersion and waste the players' and the little ammo for heavy weapons and sniper rifles time but I mod my saves(glorious Xbox360 saves that is) so no biggie.
ME1 could only be described by one phrase: "miserable failure at trying to be better than KotOR although a great game in its time and made completely obsolete by ME2"

The inventory in ME2 is only described by one word: perfection; and so is the combat.

Exactly.
All Bioware RPGs are masterpieces. KOTOR, Mass Effect, ME2, DA:O... There are very few that can compare.

Another ignorant comment. I hate people who think like this. They believe that because someone else's taste is different from theirs, then they must have inferior taste. It's the argument of the simple minded. It would not be right if ME2>ME1 fans called ME1>ME2 fans obsessive compulsive loot hounds.
Ignorant?
Really?
Why is it ignorant to believe that consistancy should be maintained in a direct follow on, continuing the same story with the same character, sequel?
I was exagerating the issue with the "fickle 10 second muppet" to help get my point across.
I have nothing against pureblood shooters, but ME1 was not envisioned that way and was loyal to previous Bioware RPG styling, so why was it altered for ME2.
Bioware admit that they ditched the RPG elements to concentrate on the shooting aspect. But you'd think they'd make them top notch if that was the case rather than a copy of practically every other generic shooter out there.
Doesn't mean the game isn't fun, it's actually really good fun, but it's all been seen before.
And why couldn't the combat have been improved whilst keeping the rest of the systems more or less intact? Why should having an improved combat system cancel the inclusion of the RPG elements?
The RPG elements of ME1 needed improving, nobody is desputing that fact, ME1 had a lot of flaws, but why was there a need to cure those flaws by removing the systems all together?
As the butchery of the ME1 systems for ME2 was never brought up prior to the games release, I'd have to argue the fact that ME2 would have sold just as many copies as it did, even if it used the same systems as ME1.
Can you honestly tell me, that all those that currently say that ME2 is better than ME1, wouldn't have bought and loved ME2 if it hadn't been changed and instead used exactly the same systems as ME1?
Again, my main fault with the game isn't that it's a shooter, or that it's not fun, - as i've said, it is a fun game - but rather that it deviates far too much from the precedents set by ME1, which I personally think is wrong for a direct, imediately following on, continuation of Shepards story.

Yeah. Isn't that horrid? However, worse than the trolls are the BW apologists. People who point out possible improvements for the game are called whiners and complainers, but at least they do something constructive. They ventilate their opinion. AFAIK BioWare seems to value that. The BioWare apologist on the other hand are destructive. They (for some reason known only to them) feel that any critique is like kicking their dog. So the evil kicker must be taken care off. People like me really don't care about them. They are annoying, but there are worse things in life.KotOREffecT wrote...

Let's be honest, DreDk.
Different people enjoy different aspects of games. It is impossible to please everyone all the time. Sometimes you will agree with our decisions and love the game we release, sometimes you won't. Is it impossible for us to predict what you as an individual will and won't enjoy, and it is a little misguided to believe that a) we can cater our games to individual gamers' tastes and preferences, andthat you have to like everything we do.
I'm sorry you don't feel ME2 was as good as ME1. Perhaps you will like future products better.
Making a target-audience switch with a sequel will always result in people beeing dissappointed, more so than with independent franchises. It is one thing to make a sequel more attractive for a bigger audience but its another thing to concentrate on that new audience completely and forget about the existing one, the fans. And the real Mass Effect fans are mostly not hardcore shooter players. Since ME1 shooter combat was not that well developed, those people that really enjoyed the game loved other things about it then the shooting aspects. And most of these other things are inferior represented in the sequel, namely immersion, story, exploration, character progression, freedom.
Not only that the improved combat could have been done without sacrificing the mentioned aspects (which I would have loved) but so drasticly changing the design focus for a sequel will naturally result in a lot of dissappointed and for the futur turned off fans, which are those people that brought you where you are now with their support.
When I want to listen to classical music then I listen to Vivaldi when I want to listen to Metal then I listen to All Shall Perish (or others). If All Shall Perish release a classical album everyone will hate it, if a lost metal album of Vivaldi will be discovered (lol) then it wont really be well precieved, no matter how good they are individually.
Quoted again because I don't know why there are not more reasonable opinions like this, just "you are the captain of the A.D.D. dream squad for liking shooters" and "you are the biggest nerd who never gets girls because you like too much rpg in your rpg-shooter".

I wouldn't go that far... the Firewalker pack's only been out, what, a little over 24 hours? And most of the complaints actually did say the vehicle is fine, it's just the missions that stink.

I thought that story-wise ME1 was superior, but that does not mean that ME2 is complete crap.
I liked seeing Shepard trying to save the colonies from the Collectors, and having to deal with a treacherous blue-eyed Individual called the Illusive Man.

ME2 is the middle-part of the trilogy, and the middle-part in EVERY genre (movies included) is almost always the weakest one because it has to close the gap between beginning and end.
I honestly find that "Empire strikes back" is by far the best of the Star Wars Movies.
