Sorry but BioWare may be great at alot of things, but certainly not Multiplayer. They can go experiment on another IP but not this one

Hell no, maybe if it was in a separate game or something, I think people need to calm down with this hard on they have for tacking on MP to every game, take a look at ubisoft, they're putting on MP to Assassins Creed and they also want to release it this christmas, I'm sure that won't cause any problems at all @_@

When you say multiplayer - I think there's a difference between competitive and co-op in terms of what might feel right for ME games.

Would be interesting to see a Frontline:FOW, Battlefield (Bad Company) 2 or Section 8, maybe, style Mass Effect game.

Well, I think it would be interesting.

I agree. I'm all for a spin-off that has co-op (playing co-op with a buddy has lead so some of the most fun moments I have ever had in my years of gaming), but competitive on the other hand... that I'm not so sure off...

If there's multiplayer then the single player suffers a lot. This is a proven fact so I'd be fine with multiplayer AFTER ME3 and ONLY if it's sold as a multiplayer game by itself, not another ME related single player game packaged with multiplayer.

Agreed...

Besides the multiplayer market is absolutely saturated at the moment, and any attempt by Bioware to pull the Mass Effect franchise into the whole mess most likely won't end well. There's just too much brand recognition to compete against; not to mention a **** load of sci-fi MMO's popping up.

it wouldn't really work however if it was online you could maybe have a squad of 3 so for a really hard playthrough you could have 3 online players but i'm not really sure how the other 2 characters would work as 1 would be shepherd and the others are squad members

personally though it still a really bad idea

No thanks.

After the trilogy which is a single player campaign shooter/rpg is finished, Bioware can go testing other grounds with ME.

I still wouldn't buy a ME multiplayer game though.

Bioware's C team could work on the multiplayer. Their top teams can work on the next single player games

I would rather see the company focus on the single player game. There aren't many good MP games anyway. And the shooters that have great MP really focus on that. I love those games, but ME is not an IP which would benefit from it.

well a stand alone multiplayer game for ME wouldnt hurt

Bioware needs to step out of its comfort zone and consider multiplayer. I hope to see if SWTOR will be good

Haha. DA:O with MP. Certainly not something I would like.

Someone suggested a stand alone MP version of ME. That might work, but only if it was designed as MP from the ground up. Maybe co-op?  But what about the story elements? Wouldn't people get bored? Or would you take those out? Wouldn't it be just another shooter?

DING DING DING we have a winnah. We're talking about an RPG developer here, folks. And even if it's in a separate, i.e. non-Shepard game, I'd still rather NOT see this IP ****d out into "Call of Duty with Heat Sinks", thank you very much.

If ME3 had a co-op system that worked sort of like "Mario Galaxy" that would be fine. Player One would still make the decisions and play as the Commander, but at any time, Player 2 could take control of one of the party members while in combat.

But PvP multiplayer would be pretty hard to balance in a 1v1 encounter. Using ME2 gameplay design the soldiers would murder every other class 1v1.

I could see a squad based multiplayer co-op type of game (or MMO) where, using final fantasy XI as a template, soldier/commando is warrior, soldier/shock trooper is paladin, adept is black mage, sentinel is red mage, engineer is white mage, vanguard is dark knight, infiltrator is thief. A game that required cooperation, timing, teamwork and all that jazz.

Even if TOR is a hit, a ME MMO would have to wait until TOR ended as both are sci-fi oriented and would step on each others toes in the market.
