wanted to pass this idea onto the masses to see what everyone thinks.

Some of us are planning to buy DAO on the XBOX 360 and PS3. Now I am sure there will be a huge modding comunity like there has been in the past with both NWN 1 and 2.

The question I would like to ask everyone is this: Would you buy player developed mod's as a DLC for the XBOX 360 and PS3?

Bioware could hold a yearly contest of mods developed by players and the best mod of the year could be added as a DLC for the concole users.

What does everyone think?

I'll be playing the PC version of the game. However, that sounds like an awesome idea.

There might be a little red-tape you'd have to sort out with the whole fact that they're charging you for work they didn't do.

I was thinking about that too. Maybe they should just release it as a free DLC every year.

If the license agreement is anything like it was in the past, then anything created by players is automatically the property of EA/BioWare, so they can do whatever they want with it, legally. At least, in my non-lawyer way, that's what I took it to mean.

There were rumblings that user content might make it to the consoles even without a contest, but a contest (like the one for NWN) might be nice to generate even more excitement and additional mods.

Generally, I would NOT buy player created mods (but then again, I'm on PC). BUT: If there is a contest and Bioware chooses the best and then offers it as a DLC for let's say $5 - $7, I'd bite ...

I would buy Player Created mods, only if they were reasonably priced and something that BioWare accepted as canon. If it was random fanon nonsense I would reject it and cast it into oblivion

If BioWare/EA chose to package and sell someone's mod, even without their consent (since it is their property?), then I would go to the modder to get the mod rather than purchase it as DLC. I don't see things happening like this, however. It wouldn't make sense.

The idea is the porting to the console, though, which the original modder couldn't do. So, if you had the 360, you'd not be able to get the mods that were made for the PC.

Actually , yes you can port to any console, if you really want to.
