I ignore gameplay usefulness when selecting party members.

I just pick who I like the most as characters for their mission dialogue.

Similarly, I choose my armor based on looks and not stats.

I've beat the entire game on insanity doing this, and did not change it up even at parts where I was having trouble and knew a different party configuration would make it easier.

Does this make me vain?

Then I am vain too. We can be vain together.

It makes me jealous.  I ran with Garrus, Mirande and Thane the whole time so I hadd as much Warp as possible.

I did the exact same thing.

I do the same. In order to get the most out of the characters I run the entire game with the same two party members. I've done Garrus + Mordin and Zaeed + Grunt so far. The later pairing up is pure badass.

I bring Garrus and Tali with me everywhere because of the warm nostalgic feeling and their funny conversations.

If min/maxing in this game truly mattered I would have said yes, you are vain.  However, it really does not matter [much] what pieces of armor you choose since the stats are more like bonuses rather than game-changing, life and death decisions.

Now if we were talking about World of Warcraft, I wouldn't care if I dressed my character like a clown as long as I had the stats to back it up on the DPS meters :P.

I played Sentinel and I have to say, three characters all running maxed out warp and warp ammo does kinda turn Harbinger into your **** in the Suicide Mission.

No, I do this in a lot of games. If I can't look pro while I'm killing bad guys I might as well not be killing bad guys. For this reason, I wore the terrible Triprunner Dungarees on my rogue in WoW until level 55; all the decent leg gear in the interrim were ridiculous looking shorts that I refused to wear.

I'm trying to chose party member matching for the mission to be most interesting.

For example. For Tali loyalty mission I took Legion and Miranda or Samara.

For Jack mission - Miranda and Grunt or Mordin etc.

Thats why LOTRO has an outfit system to let you wear what you want without having to worry about the stats. See here:

Off-topic slighty sorry :P

I do the same as the OP. I normally bring Tali and Garrus, except when doing loyalty missions in which case I replace Garrus with the loyalty character.

I would, except my favorites are Miranda and Mordin who are also very useful.

I like setting stuff on fire with Mordin.

I can't NOT bring Thane with me on every mission, the other Squaddie depends on how I feel at the time.

If it's a loyalty mission Thane is always the second squaddie.

I also do this most of the time. Played through the entire game once with Jack/Zaeed, and once with Garrus/Mordin. But when playing on insanity, I switched party members more often depending on the mission.

I usually bring whoever has extra dialogue; combat effectiveness means nothing when I let them lie on the floor for the greater part of each firefight.

I try to have Legion with me on every mission, and then Zaeed, unless it's going to be a huge disadvantage.

I don't wear any headgear. I like the headpiece that gives you 10% to headshots but it clips badly with the hair of my character so even on insanity I don't wear it.

I do the same.. I never really got into the whole "tactical" aspect of the game.. I play Mass Effect for the story and characters most of the time. With ME2 I really liked the new shooter aspect they added.. Personally I liked it more than all the inventory heavy parts of ME1..
