newly loaded characters with no portrait ( red x for broken image placeholder / 1002, 1003 error ), tried the fix suggested in http://social.biowar...6/index/1438141 and now got no placeholders for image but no portrait.

surely this should be fixed by now, and yup... gotta agree ... 1 image file upload for a dynamic inventory guys? even blizzard can get the armory to work on dynamic figure models and they've got a much larger server load to balance for access

anyone know if there's been any movement forward on  this? hell i'll even patch if that's what's required

Patching won't do you any good. Your issue is addressed in 2.2 and 4.3 in this thread.
