The fact that the ad campaign featured ONLY Guyshep and never Jennifer's Hale's excellent Femshep really annoyed a lot of us, so I think that's why there's so much Femshep fanart out there.

BioWare ignores Femshep, so the fanbase creates it's own art to fill the void.

That's a little harsh.  Considering the fact that girl gamers are still a distinct minority, I'm just glad Bioware has consistently paid so much consideration to the female player's experience.

I always choose maleshep for 2 reasons:

1. I always feel weird piloting female characters, don't own one game that has a female protagonist.

2. Fepshep has no Tali

EDIT: I also get the feeling that I'm the only one that thinks malesheps voice is better then femsheps.

Femsheps rule the forums; Malesheps rule overall.

I used a femshep to do my most brutal playthrough so I wouldn't have to hate my main shep.

She killed grunt right out the pod, sold Legion, turned over the evidence on Tali's father, got everyone killed but Garrus, Jacob and Zaeed. Then killed Zaeed on his loyalty mission and dumped Garrus after the final for jacob. I don't like her.

If you mean by not marketing her, then yeah you don't see her hardly.
Otherwise I don't see where Bioware would be ignoring femshep.

not all the renegade dialouge options are bad for female but alot are in my opinion

WHAT. THE. HELL?

My female Shepard is like 99% the same as that one, except she's Paragon haha.

So many options to create a character, yet I see my FemShep in that video haha.

I have noticed that this has a lot to do with the player's gender.  I think that one can
relate more to his/her gender's vocal inflections.  Of course there are exceptions.

Hardly ignoring her, but they pander marketing to the demographic. When you're IN gaming you learn to divorce marketing from content very very early, particularly with employers like EA.

I was specifically talking about marketing, where neither the existance of a female Shepard or Jennefier Hale was ever mentioned by BioWare unless specifically prodded in interviews.  And while I understand they they didn't want to "confuse the audience" it still left a lot of players feeling ignored.

I don't have the statistics, but I would say that it is a fair assumption that the game is purchased and played overwhelmingly by males.

I find it much easier to have a connection to such a story-heavy game when I'm playing as the appropriate gender.

Mark Meer for me.

You and I are going to have to disagree on that.

You do realize EA simply sees customers as organic meatbag machines that give them money, right?

In Mass Effect 1, Hale wins.

In Mass Effect 2, both wins depending on their side I think. Renegade Mark Meer is pretty awesome. Paragon Jennifer Hale sounds more heroic/caring.

I've done both mshep and femshep. I think I prefer femshep for paragon, and mshep for renegade. mshep always sounds a little peeved, which works great for my renegade playthroughs. femshep, on the other hand, seems to be a bit more believable when being paragon, but just doesn't have a good evil voice imo.

EDIT: what FredThePhoenix said ;-)

To be fair, most big companies share this view.

I am not sure how to respond to that because I don't know all of the facts.  I do understand the marketing of it to males, because that is the majority who is playing/buying the game.

As a woman I have spent much of my time playing as a male character--willingly and unwillingly given the state of things--yet I have had no problem relating to male characters. I'm a little puzzled as to why some people can't find it in themselves to play as a different gender. Role playing is just that.....role playing and how unfortunate it would be to not imagine being something else in game or at least find some way to relate.

That said, I find Mark Meer's voice acting to be aggravating and off putting. If the male Shepard had a better voice and face options that do not resemble a simian-like abomination, then I would jump at the chance of an alternate playthrough.

Most business does.  That is the bottom line.  Some are more ruthless than others of course.

I wonder, I see a lot... A LOT of Femshep fanart, short stories and the like... its like Sheps are rare and Femsheps rule the world o.o

Another question... how many Femsheps are actually female on the stick?

I always took it as the fact that since the male Shepard is the cannon for the Mass Effect universe, that writing a female Shepard story gives a person more scope for interpretation.

Ah yes, "Vaginas". We have dismissed this claim.
