It's one of the decision in the franchise that simply makes no sense at all...

We are fighting the power in Aus. The moron blocking a proper ratings system is finally standing down. I'm disappointed he wasn't kicked out though. Singapore it is likely to be banned, as that was where it got banned for the Liara scene if I recall correctly.

I found this on youtube, it's kind of long so kinda skip to the last couple of mins of it.
Ummmm NO because Tali is clearly NOT GAY....Sooooo yea....Im all for keeping Tali NOT GAY or BI in the third game.

I usually avoid the same sex threads as they get flamed to hell and back, but damn, I sort of understand the anger here. This is the 21st century, who gives two craps about what backwards folks feel about electronic characters????

They are going to charge us 9.95 for the Tali Female Romance option with added "beach walk" dating scene.
For all Bioware's fear of same sex romances, no one CARED about Dragon Age's male/male love or the fact that there are open lesbian relationships in ME hidden by the phony argument that asari are asexual. Who are they marketing the game for? Reverend Fred Phelps????
Have some courage, Bioware. Star Trek had one of the first interracial kisses when it was horribly taboo for a white man to kiss a black woman. If Sci-Fi can't push boundaries, then what is the point?

After listening to the whole thing its so frustrating to hear the explanations Bioware gives for "plot reasons" and then the fact it seems they totally intended to go a certain way then radically shifted. If you never intended a character to develop as a bisexual character, why record all those lines??? The only way the excuse I have heard before that "its for redundancy's sake" would be true is if Thane or other Male LI's had lines with Male Shepard, which I doubt.

If i remember correctly the amount of additional recorded lines are exactly the same for Tali and Thane. There are none for the other characters.

I had heard a rumor that Thane was supposed to be a male LI as well. They backed down on both counts. Cool!!!!!

Then she isn't. Anyway, I have proof positive that Tali was never meant to be a FemShep romance. If she was, then the first lines out of FemShep's mouth once Tali was on the ship would have been along the lines of "Oh, hey Tali, great to see you, nowdropthosepantsthat'sanorder."
The word "subtle" is not in FemShep's romance dictionary, you see.

Try blaming the US, as you should. Remember what happened over there when the media discovered they'd snuck a lesbian sex scene in Mass Effect 1?

It wasn't the US media as a whole, it was just Fox News, a Murdoch owned bastion of idiocy. The worst part is that it seemed to actually effect Bioware's attitude when sales for the game were great. If it doesn't effect the bottom line, who gives a sh**?

You can't say a character is "clearly" not gay because they don't act a certain way or haven't jumped at Shepard yet.Except for the fact that sexuality isn't necessarily a personality
aspect. Same-sex romances could easily be added to existing characters
without altering them at all, it's just a matter of getting Hale or Meer
to record extra dialogue(which is likely already recorded; based on
sound files, they were given the same script).
In regards to DA:O, I think the M/M romance got it labeled as porn somewhere. I'll need to hunt down the article...

Indeed. With two millions copies in weeks for ME 2, Bioware had better realize they should have a hell of a lot of room to let loose for ME 2 DLC and ME 3. I doubt we will ever see the Ashley/Tali/Thane same sex romances ever again, but still in future it would be good to known Bioware can take strides bravely. They have a major audience, who gives two craps what the US media thinks, and finally they basically said they can go all out for the last game.
Go all out damnit and stop self censoring!!!

Look at places where the same gender is kept together and secluded from the other sex. Cases in the military, prison, and other experiences where "men are men and women are women".

Over.
It.
The minority that just can't accept being a minority. You really want them to alienate a larger population, a greater playerbase, to satisfy the desires - quite literally - of a fairly smaller one? It makes very little sense.

I just fail to see how it's self-censoring if every character doesn't want to sex everything with a pulse. It's a stupid complaint.

They spent time recording/possibly developing it, its a waste of resources not to include it. ME 2 is filled with wasted resources that they have given back to us in chunks, its insulting.

They recorded one flirty scene between Tali and FemShep because they were too lazy to make a unique post-loyalty mission dialog and just had Hale read from the same script as Meer. They didn't even bother recording any of the other dialogs. Stop acting like this was some big thing that they were planning to implement and then cut at the last minute, because it isn't.
