Just finished DA:O for the first time on Nightmare mode under the 30 hour mark with patch 1.03.

Patch must be Turbo or Supercharged. Thanks Bioware. Now all you have to do is sort out the stabilty issues.

Anything close to 30 hours I managed on patch 1.02 was my DW warrior with 30.5 hours.

Why rush through a game such as this...i took 2 months to finish as i tend to explore every nook and cranny of all games , not just this one.:)

It matches how I read a book.  Rush through the first time, hit all the high spots, find out how it ends and, if I like it, go back and read it again and again.  Some books I revisit once every couple of years just to see old friends again.  I love revisiting this game and picking up something new each time.

Hey, I'm not rushing. I'm still doing all the side quests. I just skip through dialogues that I already know by hitting esc. All I'm saying is loading time must've counted towards gameplay time.

Might I ask on how you were able to get to 25? I'm pretty sure its impossible to do unless you did something. I'm also aware that you can reach 25 by means of killing NPCs but since your a DW warrior friendly fire is impossible, unless you used your companions to do the deed. And I also believe only rogues can have the most exp.

I have a city elf rogue, like you I was able to finish the game on nightmare in just 30hrs but when I am done I was only level 23, I unlocked everything, from chests to rooms almost anything unlockable in this game yet I am only level 23. I did every possible side quest, I have all the DLCs (RtO, shale, WK ).

So how did you do it?

Try giving materials at camp to your army as you gather them. All of them give you xp per item with the Dalish being the best value for money. I think 10xp per elfroot. It's possible to get to Lvl 23 max with gameplay, and you have to get the other two by contributing to your army.

Loot & Sell everything. If you run out of inventory space make a trip back to a shop, empty then go back.

I just keep weapons for companions & I, and the unique accessories & sell everything else. You should get to about 3000 gold by the end of the game. For extra cash craft & sell Potent Lyrium Potion. Buy all your crafting materials from the Inn Keeper at Denerim (Except the Lyrium Dust) to make a profit. If your a Dwarf, you get more money for your potiions.
This helps to get all your expensive items early, except the ones that need couple of main quests done to unlock.

30 hours seems like plenty of time to do everything this game has to offer. However, the game is very replayable.

I'll see if I can break the 20 with a mage later on. Any suggestions?

The mag has one of the longest origins. Skip all cut-scenes, don't explore unnecessary dialog trees. avoid unnecessary combats...basically don't take any time to enjoy the game.

The real challenge is not to minimize time, but maximize experience. I think the highest level I've achieved is 22. Try and beat that.

I know this game inside out. I've play it about 15 times already. It's not Fallout 3.
What more is there to exprience?

What I mean is experience points. Play a game where you do everything to maximize XP.  Of course, I've only played through about 12 times,  so I'm a noob.

While  there's quite a few things  one can take issue with regarding the Thread's OP, these points ain't it.

First, thanks to the release of the various DLC's  (specifically RTO,) and the unlimited elfroot exploit with the Elven army donations, it's no longer impossible to reach the level 25 cap.  I've done it.

Second, Friendly fire is ridiculously easy to accumulate with a dualwielder  (or any other type of warrior.)  Ever heard of Bombs?  Ie.   Shock bombs, soulrot bombs, fire bombs, etc?  Also, the Golem shapeshift in the fade.  In my last playthrough, I  decided to fight the sloth demon in Golem form.  I totally forgot that Quake and Hurl will nail everyone in the area, and so I ended up doing hundreds of damage total to everyone in my party in that fight.  LOL good times.

There are a few XP hacks and exploits. So, reaching Level 25 is certain not impossible. But, there is a thesis someplace about maximizing XP naturally.

Actually I craft all my own health potions, it's much cheaper than buying them. I only crafted enough Lyriunm Potions to (420 gold) buy my items at Lvl 14.

We see that, Solona took over 100 hours of game time and you probably had a lot of fun doing that.

HA HA, just broke the DW rogue record with a DW warrior. This proves once & for all DW warriors do more dps than DW rogues.

with all the dlc, I reach 24 or 25 every playthrough. I'm usually lvl 20 or 21 before going to Orzamar. This profile doesn't show it because I'm only doing my first playthrough on PC (had to wait until I bought a new one, old one didn't do it). All my other playthroughs were on 360, and before RtO and other beginning dlc (shale and Warden's tower), I reached about 23 by end of game.

Weirdly, I feel guilty not donating at least something to those troop boxes. Sheesh. But I never do it except to dump a few beginner runes or some change or dump a few straggler things.

I've only ever done potions (to sell) a few times. I still do a lot of crafting because I don't buy most frequently used potions or poisons.

My question is, what program did you use to take that screenshot? As I said..new computer and all...
