I just got my copy of Awakening.  When I tried to install it my computer told me that Dragon Age: Origins was not intalled on my computer (it is) and that I needed to install that before I could install the expantion pack.

I was confused because Dragon Age definately is installed on my computer, I even tried starting up the game: it works fine.  I realized though that my game is not up to date on the latest patch.  I went to intall the patch ver. 1.03, but it wouldnt work.  I got a message saying that I can't install the patch because Dragon Age wasn't installed on my computer, and it suggested I re-install the game.

So I tried to re-install the game.  I went to the game launcher, clicked uninstall, and this message came up: "Dragon Age: Origins was not found on this computer".

Any suggestions?  I'm thoroughly confused.

something is wrong with your registry. if you run "regedit" you should find a dragonage node

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Wow6432Node\\BioWare\\Dragon Age

if your using 64 bit system, on a 32 bit you wouldn't have the Wow6432Node folder and bioware would be directly in the software.

if this is missing for some reason the softwares will think you don't have it installed.

That sort of situation also can arise from using a "No-CD" Exe fix, or even the trick for using AA, renaming the EXE to UT3.Exe.  .

(Needless to say, a pirated copy is ignored by the new DLC & Expansion software.)

I am using my CD, so I don't think that's the problem. What exactly is "regedit"? I searched for that on my computer and did not find it. I also searched for a Wow6432Node folder, but it didn't seem to exist.

This forum is intended to allow gamers to assist one another with game problems.  Lessons on how to use the hardware and the (OS) software are not about the game at all.  REGEDIT is part of  the Windows OS, not of Dragon Age.  Microsoft has all of the tutorials that could be needed on their site, describing using all versions of Regedit.  Google probably will even lead you to videos on the subject.

(" about 2,260,000 English pages for how to use regedit.")

i had the same problem but i ficed it.

1. Run regedit (by finding "run" in your start menu and the typing regedit)

2.Expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder.

3.Expand the SOFTWARE folder. (if you have 64 bit, you first need to expand Wow6432Node first)

4.Expand the BioWare folder.

5. Create a new key called "Dragon Age" (it has to be called this)

6. Right click on the folder you just made, and say new-string value, and call it "path"

7. right click on it and say modify, then type your game path, a.k.a. where your DAOriginsLauncher.exe is located. (mine was C:\\Program Files\\Dragon Age\\) and click ok,

8. collapse the bio-ware folder. and open electronic arts folder. (if there is another electronic arts folder inside of it, open it to)

9. repeat 5, 6, and 7.

and you're set (note, dont try and do some other stuff, because you can mess up your computer, to the point of which you have to reinstall it.)

I have the same problem, I did all of that and it's still not working. The EA folder already had a Dragon Age file but the BioWare one didn't. Any suggestions?
