They blast off and shoot lasers at the Reapers. Whenever a laser scores a direct hit Shep does a ninja flip. His entire squad are beautiful woman wearing spandex. During a hull explosion their tops get ripped off and Shep screams "NOOOPOOOOOOOOO!!!" in slow motion for drama. Joker makes a quip and they blow up a Reaper but have to crash land on the Statue of Liberty. One of the Reaper's core AI's takes over telephone poll and Commander Shep gets into climatic duel with the Indoctrinated telephone poll. He uses Ninja Kicks and Ninja Flips and everyone is like whoa what a badazz. After he saves earth Shep rides away with the babes, only to find that his new sidekick has mysteriously died along with his Love Interest. Tali is waiting for you at the Citadel only to spring the bad news. Tali is placing you under arrest. Samara happens to be walking by and notes this as an injustice and Samara is forced to kill Tali, she uses biotic powers to tear off her suit, you see her face for one second and she glares hatefully at Sheperd before she dies, and Samara is like, were gonna escape thank the goddess!! Then Garrus starts doing back flips into the room and is like, I'm BACK!! Then the three of them run to the Citadel high command only to find a new and improved version of Saren and a troop of sassy collector's taking over the place and shootin folks. Saren then turns to Sheperd and gives a brooding speech.
"I will hurt you Sheperd. I have spent the past four years hurting myself. Rebuilding myself from my DNA in the Sewer ducts of the Citadel...Soverign has brought me back to life just to prove to you how futile your existence. I've planted a massive bomb with a mass effect core directly in the center node of the Citadel, when it explodes it will create an explosion that becomes a mass effect warp field that will usher int he entire reaper fleet. Billions of ships harbingering your doom! DOOOOOOOOM I SAY!"
Then he takes out his sword, and Shep takes out his gun blade, does one ninja flip and they start having a stylish sword fight, while Garrus swears and Samara gasps.
To Be Continued....

Something engaging and emotional, ur LI being captured maybe? Or it could defult to Tali, who seems to be the only character not bad ass enough to be captured. I assume this would ge people hooked into the game from the start. Either this or a colony is attacked by the reapers, but it would have to be well done, I really didn't feel sad about the colonists on any of the colector worlds
I personally think that's a good idea from a developer point of view.
Indeed that would solve a lot of problems.
1. Hoping ME3 will last more than 20 hours....... *hum hum*.... There is a need of a side scenario (like recruiting squad mates for ME2, as, let's be honest, the core scenario part in ME2 lasts only a couple of hours). You can't build up a long game just on a final rush against Reapers.
2. This would solve the problem of "bring back Tali / Garrus / Jack and so on", as everyone could die in the final mission and that would solve quite quickly the issue of developping a scenario with the surviving characters.
3. Making ME2 allies just die wouldn't be a correct idea. 90% of the people would make a riot. This would be a scenario with a lack of emotion. You insert your CD in your PC / XBOX, you choose: "import character", start. Bham everyone dies. This would be a huge FAIL!
--> creating a side scenario were you need not only to destroy the Reapers but also save your old teammates would give the ability to make them NPC but still "alive". If you romanced Jack for example, and she get prisonned by someone, well mate, the first thing you wanna do is take a Bazooka with your left-hand and a M-60 in your right hand and make everything explode to save her (quote --> Commander with great Arnold!).
--> this would be a correct way to make your ME2 chars non playable in a non-frustrating way!

Sheperd is getting it ON with his LI. When suddenly the skies darken, you can hear mindless screaming as the Reaper's explode across the sky, dotting the skyways with obliteration, Sheperd does a back flip off his babe (full frontal on his babe, game rated M for mature). Then he slips into his awesome space suit and leaps out the window....

EA has stated they want to experiment with paid for non traditional demos http://www.eurogamer...e-boxed-games_0 So this is what I would do.
I think they'll release a DLC sized game a month or so before the release of Mass Effect 3 where you play a council Spectre charged with hunting down Shepard. As A Tauron ship engages the Normandy in battle in orbit of a planet, you lead a team onto the surface to hunt him/her down. In the end you capture them and as they are wearing one of those annoying helmets you can't take off you can't tell if it's a man or woman or what they look like so the game is still valid without linking to your save files.
The game proper will open with an FMV of that Spectre you played in the 'demo' investigating the star Tali was investigating in ME2. It turns out the Reapers are manipulating it using dark matter, turning it into an unstable wormhole in which the Reapers can travel through. One Reaper ship is able to successfully travel through with a second being destroyed as the anomaly collapses tearing the ship/ entity in half. The Spectre engages the Reaper and survives the encounter but is the only one who does.
The galaxy is war with the Reaper ship. Shepard is in an elaborate private prison on the fringes of Citadel space. The council has already ordered your release but the prison has gone rogue and have refused to do so. The most secure prison in the Galaxy no one gets out and now, no one gets in. The first stage of the game would be to escape the prison which would be more epic and elaborate than anything seen in Mass Effect 2. Aided by Ashley or Kaidan depending on who survived ME1 and other prisoners (the Normandy crew were held elsewhere and are already free, one or more of your ME2 team escaped capture if still alive) you learn that the prison warden is under the influence of the Reapers. Ashley/Kaidan dies in the final stages of the escape, sacrificing their lives to save you.
The second stage is on an Alliance ship. The Normandy and crew are engaged in the war under the captaincy of the demo Spectre. The main objective here is to find clues to where the Reaper and the Normandy are and the stage ends when your Alliance ship and the Normandy work together to take down the Reaper ship.
Since the first wormhole collapsed the Reapers have been working on creating a second more stable wormhole so the rest of the fleet can safely travel through. Now in command of the Normandy and her crew again (if everyone survived ME2 a few have died under the other Spectres command) you have two objectives. First to study the ruined Reaper ship to find clues on how to destroy other ones and/or salvage its weaponry. The second is to organize the largest fleet ever assembled including the Migrant fleet to the second star being turned into a wormhole. There will be the final engagement; the plan being to destroy each Reaper ship as it comes through into the galaxy through the wormhole. In order to organize the fleet you must convince the leaders of most of the Citedal worlds and rogue organizations like Cerberus to commit ships but the real fate of the galaxy rests on a decision you made in the first Mass Effect. Did you save the Rachni Queen because if you did, her ships will join the fleet.
The fleets assembled, the wormhole almost formed and you learn some of the fleet is already under the influence of the Reapers. As the battle begins Shepard must find which of the generals in the fleet can no longer be trusted? Did you save the Collector station in ME2? If so Cerberus can no longer be trusted and are now under Reaper influence. As the Fleet battles the Reapers, Shepard and squad battle the indoctrinated.
There are several possible endings. There will be variations in the details but the two major outcomes would be; Most of the Reaper fleet is destroyed but some got through and the war will continue but at least the galaxy has a chance OR Most of the fleet is destroyed, the Reapers have broken the lines and the Galaxy is almost certainly doomed though hope is not all lost. Either way, this is the end of the line for Shepard who one way or the other cannot survive the final encounter.

I have no idea about a beginning though. Maybe we should see Earth in all its glory, and perhaps we're being taken in for "treachery" after something Cerberus has done. Then the Alliance fakes your death and Udina reveals he works very closely with Cerberus in secret. The Reapers think you're dead, and...nah, that's too much like ME2.

oh yes, definitely yesKaiser Shepard wrote...
I want the game to begin with a black screen and an unknown, damaged mechanic voice talking about an invasion of giant sentient starships and the demise of the current galactic civilization.
The screen "opens", the unknown voice is revealed to come from a Prothean VI not quite unlike Vigil, on which the camera is extemely zoomed in. As the camera slowly zooms out, it appears this is indeed a Prothean VI warning Shepard & co about their impending doom.
As the whole screen becomes visible, we see three aliens from different unknown species standing before the hologram. The hologram, which was broken like Vigil, suddenly forms into something that looks like a distorted human figure. Now, with either Mark Meer or Jennifer Hale's voice, it says "You have to stop them!".
*cue standard Mass Effect "opening crawl"*
this is also a fantastic idea imoyorkj86 wrote...
A grand, well-animated musical number
involving everyone in tuxedos and top-hats. The Reapers should have on
top-hats, too, and canes. Canes made of lasers. Everyone should have
laser-canes.
A festive, Bollywood-esque musical number would also be acceptable.

Maybe not, but if I was in charge I'd ok it for the sake of equality of sexuality.

Shepard gets his LI pregnant and the lazarus treatment side effects cause his body to age rapidly and he croaks. Years pass as the kid grows up and assumes Daddy's role as Galactic Savior. You play as whatever combination of races kid is.
Thats metal gear solid. Lets stick with ME 3 here.

You don't actually start off as Shepard. You start off as the love interest/person you left alive in ME1. (Kaidan, Ashely or Liara). Perhaps Shepard is in trouble, caught between a reaper scout force and the closest galaxy, ship gone missing for a few days.. etc.
So whoever was your love interest, or person you left alive in the first game, realizes they respect you too much, or love you, and go to save you. Perhaps they distract the scout reaper fleet and let shepard get away.
If you cheated on your ME1 love interest, you might feel real guilty when they not only save you, but come to confess how they feel about you. If they aren't your LI, then you get a real sense of respect from them, and thus they can join your party.
I guess it doesn't have to be a reaper scout group. It could be a ban of the mercenary groups really pissed off over how Shepard worked them in the first game. Just has to be a dire situation, that clearly would cause casualties without help.

for male shepards:
a) if Liara was the LI in ME 1she returns to the normandy and while shepard is absent or scanning planets or whatever, she betrays shepard with the LI from ME 2 in an unskipable explicit 30 minute cinematic cutscene. both are angry that shepard love interested the counterpart and he isn't allowed to join in
--> shepard goes to omega and starts drinking Lorik Qui'in/general septimus style and has to play the first missions with everything blurred
for female shepards:
a) if Liara was the LI in ME 1she returns to the normandy and while shepard is absent or scanning planets or whatever, she betrays shepard with
--> the punishment for cheating on liara however is the following: a soon as femshep is about to join the party the camera turns away and you see talis mask... AGAIN... (DAMN YOU BIOWARE!!) <_<
hm i think that has covered the possible decisions from ME1

but seriously, i think depending on your options at the end you're either gonna be on the receiving end of TIM's fury or the Alliance's fury. if tim is annoyed kelly sabotages the ship. if it's the alliance kaiden/ashley is sent to take you and the new normandy out.
Kelly is liquid goo in my saved game and I told TIM to shove it. Whats he gonna do now!
