well it all depends on the rollover dlc's like LotSB, that come before ME3.
I personally want it either start from dark space, with harbringer talking
Some plot crap while he/it and the others are flying towards the galaxy. Or
With shep waking up from a time spanning nightmare of all the previous
Civ's getting wiped out, he wakes to EDI telling him Earth is only 10
par sec's away or something like that. Or something that throws us right
Into the fight to refresh us, against a merc band or watever. But please don't
Kill him. or give a long drawn out intro.

I am curious. Do people necro year old threads because they feel its best to reuse a long dead thread rather than start a new one?

Or do they think its just amusing?

If you've played ME1 or ME2 or both then ME3 should start 4-6 months after the events of ME2 with the Earth under heavy attack as we saw in the trailer. There should be no new face customization if you import an ME2 Shep. I know it might disappoint some people but I think that would be very cool and realistic. I want all the squad mates that I had with me from ME2 except for Thane, Samara, Mordin, Kasumi, and Zaeed. From ME1 I want Tali, Ash, Garrus, and Liara. Although I don't think liara will be with you too much since she's the Shadow Broker. I would like to start off heading to Tuchanka to speak with Wrex and Bioware can take it from there.

Might be interesting to start the game of with something going wrong with the SR2 shortly after you

*SPOLIER*
blow up the collector base (if you chose so).
*END SPOILER*

Like TIM put some kind of code in EDI to shut down the SR2, you have to get it back online either by Tali or whomever and get your ass back to earth a.s.a.p.

If you chose the Paragon route all through ME2 I would definatley like to see a confrontation with Shep and Cerberus.

I'd like it to start a few months after ME2 with an attack against a non-essential (plot-wise) non-citadel-space species, like the Batarians, who would be desperate enough to request help from the council (or shepard). The first chapter of the game would be a disastrous attempt to help them before everybody pulls back (a la dunkirk evacuation during WW2). That would be epic.

Should start with TIM's base of operations being discovered. If Paragon option (blow the collector base) was chosen, he'll be arrested and serve as a gray-area of guidance to Shepard from within an alliance prison cell, maybe at Jump Zero, which would serve as a main base of operations for the game like the Citadel in ME1.

If Renegade (save the collector base) was chosen, TIM will bargain with it, still serving a guidance roll to Shepard as well as alliance commanders, but being free to roam the Jump Zero base.

All the alliance NPC's will all have something negative to say about TIM, but you will personally feel sympathetic for him since he denies having any direct roll in your actions, claiming after the Lazarus Project, Shepard stole the Normandy and stopped the collectors on his lonesome.

Kinda hope not... love how 'cute' she was in ME1, she doesn't need the 'Devil May Cry 4 ****-treatment'

The Lazarus Project used new, experimental technology and methods to resurrect you. It worked - but it wasn't perfect. Shepard finds that they're having trouble remembering some events, places and people. They are carted off to undergo "imprint therapy" so microscopic mistakes in their brain, created by Lazarus' sloppy work (in comparison to a naturally grown brain with no trauma), can be corrected. (none of this is shown, it's just what I figure might happen)

Opening cutscene can just show the Reapers starting to arrive like some fellow on the first page said, culminating with someone saying "Get me Shepard." or some ****, then it cuts to a scene of Shepard being helped off of a lab table and quickly briefed on the situation as s/he is rushed to the Normandy. Based on your actions in the previous game, this could be taking place in another Cerberus installation, an Alliance medical facility or the Shadow Broker's ship.

I dunno, it's not much but it'd give a reasonable explanation as to why you lose your abilities again. They could say you just need to "readjust" to your freshly bandaged brain/memories and that you'll gradually return to maximum combat effectiveness. This could also serve as some sort of plot device later, triggering some hidden prothean knowledge or code that was transferred to Shepard by the beacons/cipher but lost when s/he suffered brain damage and died in ME2.

Oh, and people importing a save from ME1+ME2 should start at level 10. Those importing from only ME2 get level 5. (assuming a cap of 30 again)

So far, BioWare has sort of (wisely) followed in the footsteps of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings Trilogy.Mass Effect begins with a prologue, Mass Effect 2, throws you right into a life and death conflict, Mass Effect 3...

Should have two separate openings. One for those who have save imports going back to the 1st game and a another opening, for those who have none. This may sound strange at first, but i think ME3, should start out like The Academy Award Winning Animated Film, The Incredibles...With Shepard Commander (and perhaps even members of your squad) being interviewed by Emily Wong (Save Import Only Version).

This interview has been put on the back burner, ever since the 1st game.Having a chance to rebut what those in the Council and Alliance said of you and your concerns post Battle of the Citadel.Telling your side of the story, in game, would be brilliant! The 'calm before the storm' as it were...

On another note: Concerning your squadmates, Post Suicide Mission : Zaeed is training Cerberus soldiers, Grunt is acclimating himself into Clan Urdnot, Samara, returns to her life as a Justicar, Thane is spending what time he has with his son, Garrus, is Liara'T`Soni's 'right hand man', as for the others...They may still be with you, but most (if not all of your 'Dirty Dozen') are still on call.If you need their aid once more; more than not, they won't be hard to reach... ^_^

If you're Paragon, I'm for the idea that the SR-2 gets taken out of action, not permanently, but just for the first mission or two. During this time, some dormant code has been triggered by TIM which shuts the Normandy down, perhaps even crippling EDI for a time, and you and the other crew members have to escape before a Cerberus team takes over the ship. You take the shuttle to get away, and a short time later, Miranda helps you infiltrate TIM's base to retake the Normandy. You could actually divide the team up SM-style. You choose the Tech Specialist to get the Normandy back up and running, and divide the rest of the crew up into three Fire Teams. You choose your team, and select a leader for each of the other two. Your team is the primary, a second team is the distraction, and the third is the escort for Joker, the Tech Specialist, and maybe the support crew (Kelly, Chakwas, etc.). You could actually set this shortly after the beginning, too, with TIM setting a trap to get Miranda, and by extension, Shepard, out into the open. This could be done by the fact that Cerberus knows where Miranda's sister is. Technically, TIM could draw Zaeed out, too, with Vido, assuming he's still alive.

Actually, I like the idea of several of the crew members doing their own thing, leaving only a handful of characters on board the Normandy. That would actually be the perfect time for TIM to spring his trap. Then, you wouldn't have the full team to retake the Normandy, you would only have a few people to work with (maybe two Fire Teams and no one else). You could also have the completed Loyalty missions from ME2 have an effect here, as well.

I think it should start not with shepard but with an attack on a non suspecting race out in the galaxy. The surviving members of the race each a passing alliance patrol and hailed them with a distress call. They tell of ships(not yet reapers) bombarding them from orbit some even touching down letting off troopers to wreak havoc. Admiral hackett or anderson calls shepard you is in bed with LI from mass effect 2 if not in bed alone having nightmares about the reapers attacking the protheans from the memories burned in his head. before he awakes u have the option on weither or not youll change his appearance or not. Then he awakes to answer the call he told of the attack, he rush out to investigate (paragon) or decline and wait for the briefing from whoever made the call.

Shepard getting dismissed by the Council(Or even Cerberus where TIM says that he's more than prepared ATM) who pull strings to seperate his dead Squaddies from him forceing Shepard to get a new Squad as he's rallying the races, as individuals, to prepare for the Reapers.

1) Relaxing music plays. Shepherd and LI are on the bridge of the SR2 discussing a much needed shore leave. They approach The Citadel just in time to see it explode into a billion points of light. Shep gets blamed and is forced to investigate while on the run.

OR

2) Hundreds of ships are seen mining asteroids for some strange mineral. Shep investigates and finds they are

taking it to one spot and building something. Shep try to keep them from finishing but eventually is overwhelmed by

the number of ships doing the building and can't stop them all. The SR2's speakers echo with a loud and ominous voice. "Beware! I Live"   "I am Sinistar!" "Run Coward!"        ;)    Then the Normandy spends its time avoiding

Sinistar's gaping maw while trying to get enough rockets to destroy it.

I have no illusions about being a good enough writer to come up with a better opening scenario for this game than BioWare already has, so I'm just going to sit back and let it surprise me.

1.Shepard is summoned to Earth for one reason or another.
2. Earth is then attacked by Reaper shortly after he arrives.
3. Cut to action scene that acts as a tutorial.
4. Shepard leaves Earth, and vows to come back to save them.
The guy from the trailer might be somebody who escorted Shepard of the planet.

Well for those of you who have played Halo Reach, I think that is kind of how Mass Effect 3 should open: *On a human colony on the edge of the Terminus Systems* Slip space rupture detected. Slip space rupture detected. Slip space rupture detected. Slip space rupture detected. Slip space rupture-Slip space rupture-Slip space rupture-Slip space-Slip space-Slip space-Slip space-"There's too many!"Slip space-"AGGGHHH!!!"Slip space-"Damn it, where's the Council."Slip space-"Son, unless Shepard gets here soon, there's not going to be a Council." *Flash to Shepard, and que Normandy flying into the Citadel to talk with the Council about the Reapers arriving on the edge of the Terminus Systems. Que, epic game.*
Don't know what I'm talking about? 2:13 in this video. (WARNING: Spoiler for Reach!)
