I will say this: it's almost certain that all communication too and from Earth is being cut off (in wartime, after all, the comm buoys are the first targets), and it's also likely that Reapers are destroying any ships that enter or attempt to leave via the Charon Mass Relay. So the beginning may well involve Shepard escaping the invasion narrowly. I can't see many other ways he would even be aware of the invasion, given the likelihood of a communications blackout.

But, we'll see.

 I think laser beams should be involved somehow in the start of Mass Effect 3.  Everyone likes laser beams.

file of your history opens up on the choices you made from me1 -me2, select your decision on who you side with alliance or cerbrus, first real cutscene shows shepard getting a distress call from guy in london and shepard must go to turian, krogan, asari, quarian home worlds to launch the final mission on the reaper threat. if you select cerbrus choice some alien allies may have some distrust and question your campaighn, if with alliance they trust you and side with you and still a bit worried do to working with cerbrus to destroy collector base

Missions involving your past. That would be sweet. Spacer kid defending Elysium from an asault by Batarians. Yeah, and it gives me a good reason to kill Batarians.

I want it to be a prison break, you're in some kind of prison at the beginning of ME3; frozen in stasis kinda like Jack. Then you're sprung free by Liara or someone else that has been searching for you since she heard you were imprisoned.
