DA:A wasn't what it should have been. It was overpriced and they should have released it in early 2011, and FINISHED the game.
It bothered me massively how little DA:O was carried over. I loathed the new conversation system, as well.

I am not a hater however, and I will be buying DA:2 at midnight.

Pretty much this.  1 less than stellar release isn't going to turn me off of Bioware/DA.

I too am disapointed in Awakenings. It's still a good game, just not as good as expected (and no i wasn't expecting something better than Origins), just some decisions were badly made IMHO. Still better than anything else out there.

did you pull those number out of your ass? all my friend like the expansion. but ofcourse none of us thought it would be Jesus second coming either with free wine & food for everyone...

Very high quality compared to other "original game releases" out there tbh.

I love the highly detailed statistical data that the OP provided to support his claims. Such a wonder *sarcasm*.

The lover/hater ratio on a forum doesn't represent the overall ratio. First of all, only a small group is active on a forum like this and it's only the most fanatic fans. And I guess they're also most likely to be disappointed when a game/expansion doesn't meet their extremely high expectations. I don't think Bioware has lost a lot of customers.

This. Exactaly my thoughts

I've just completed it and, while it's not quite what I would have hoped for, it is pretty much what I expected. A little more carry over from the original wouldn't have gone amiss, but those little tweaks would have made a purely semantic difference. Bugs aside, for which I can find little excuse (apart from the presumably imposed deadline, which was frankly crazy), my main quibble is the pricing. I don't really think that the £27 I paid was worth it, not when I managed to spend seventy hours on the first run-through of DA:O. I'm not saying that I was expecting a mammoth expansion so soon, but I wasn't expecting a pricetag that was arguably not commensurate to the overall gaming experience in terms of hours and content.

Would I buy another Bioware game? Of course, because the games that I have played are generally enjoyable (hell, Jade Empire is probably my favourite game ever), but in future I will probably wait for a couple of days to make sure any new game isn't released so obviously lacking in polish.

Haters/lovers ratio ? Is everything on these forums black and white. Does that mean I can't be a lover if I have negative feedback?
If I am disappointed in some way am I a hater?
Are the people in the technical forums posting problems haters?
Bad simple-minded labeling.

What is it with internet forums and drama?

Its always "OMG I CANT BELIEVE THIS ISNT EXACTLY THE WAY I PICTURED MY HEAD!!!!!1111ONE BIOWARE IS EVIL AND HATES US I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER GAME, AND ALL YOUR CUSTOMERS OBVIOUSLY HATE YOU!!!!!!111ONETWO"

You'd think Bioware is based in a tall dark tower, where their developers twirl their mustaches contemplating how next to ruin your fun, only coming down to kick passing puppies the way people talk around here.

And selling any shares they have in the game when it's most profitable.

I gotta say that I find it interesting to note that a week ago, 90% of the posters in a topic like this would be nerd-raging against the expansion and now, a week later, very few are doing that.

Dragon Age Origins: 9/10
Dragon Age Awakening: 7/10

Why?
My two cents:
- Some companions are extremely cool (i.e. Justice and Nate).
- The plot though is too trivial and the ending just disappointing. I felt it was rushed and not developed as it could and should have been. It had lot of potential. I wont elaborate to avoid spoilers but the escamotage used to end the game is something way too similar to what we experienced in Origins.
- Some improvements were neat, like the new dialogue options and the magic runes.

Overall it was not bad, as it took me a solid 22 hours to finish it.
Did it make a long lasting impression so that I'm excited about playing it again? (as it happens with DAO)
Not really.
Overpriced ($40).

Nerd rage, like many things that burn brightly tends to burn out fast.

Everyone who was going to thow a nerdrage fit threw it already, so you had a few people screaming very loudly for awhile, and now that its done, you can hear the quieter, more reasonable people a lot easier.

That is so true, I did the whole nerd rage thing earlier but I am so over that now and actually barring the odd CTD it's *currently* all going fine, and i am enjoying it.
Should there be an issue later on I shall doubtless throw all my toys about - but it won't last and then I'll just get on with the game, and so there we go.

And then complain some more and swear they'll never buy another one. Me personally, as much as I gripe about not having some armor (really and truely my ONLY complaint) I will be preordering DA:2 or whatever they're gonna call it.

Well OP, I don't know if they've (Bioware) lost customers. But you could argue, lot less people might be tempted to buy Awakening.

So because an expansion isn't very good (in your opinion), Bioware have become another cheap developer? Cover your eyes people, I don't want you to see this.

How dare you. I wouldn't trust you to give me the correct change at your McDonalds job, let alone provide an informed opinion. Bioware take a huge chance and create a game which by all rights in today's gaming climate, shouldn't exist. They should be pandering solely to the casual masses, but instead they take a leap, show some balls, and release Dragon Age. It was a huge throwback to the old school RPG crowd, a crowd which is only a small minority. One of the first general comments in the magazines was it's "too hard." Not to mention an RPG is the most expensive type of game one can make. So here is Bioware, with their homage to the fans that put them where they are today, and you sully their name with these ridiculous claims because you didn't like one expansion?

Yes I'm sure you'll get plenty of immersion, interesting characters and story from World of Warcraft and Diablo 3. Image IPB

Trust me, being a Bioware ass kisser won't get you laid with a supermodel. I love internet tough guys being so indignant, while in reality you're nothing but a sad nerd, mad that someone critisized your favorite game company. Time to get a life.

I really can't say that I agree with you..where do you get these statistics from?  If Bioware "lost alot of customers" as you state, they wouldn't be planning on continuing this franchise, and producing more dlc for DA, along with sequels..etc.

I can see personal opinion..but not an overall declaration that Bioware is losing customers when you haven't backed that up with any actual evidence that this is the case.

Your numbers are made up, ratios are expressed with a colon (ie: 10:1) and you always reduce ratios to the lowest divisible number (ie: 1:5 not 2-10 {which is -8}).

well...the "-" stays for "to" and not for minus....

ahhh fanboys....
