Did they or are they ever going to make a fix for the older games that won't work on this OS?

Can't play saint rows 2 any more(Everything is in a "fast forward mode"), Never winter nights 2 went from running great on vista to being all choppy on windows 7 x64 bit home edition, the witcher, and many older games I own don't seem to run right any more!

:crying:

I really wanted to just play never winter nights 2, but even after trying a reinstall, It's still all choppy now when I get in game, is there a way I can fix these things on my own? I really wanted to play never winter nights 2 ( still havn't gotten past the freaking first part of the game in the festival) and can't stand to when it runs like this!

I miss vista!

I have the Witcher and NWN2 running fine on windows 7. I'm not sure what to suggest other than turn some of the settings off/down. I have a pretty good PC and NWN2's engine is so poorly put together it just can't cope with simple things like high quality shadows etc...when it comes to the witcher similar problems. Although forcing VSync with D3DOverride seems to help alot. Why ATI can't implement it in the driver i have no idea.

Saints Row 2 is good when it works.

I have it and run it on XP, and cars are just terrible. I don't think it's a fault of Vista or 7, the game itself is bugged to hell.

Oak...I have both NWN2 (including MotB; SoZ; and MoW) installed on Windows 7.  Absolutely, no problems with gameplay and everything is smooth...the game actually seems to run better for me than XP or Vista.  There are 1 or 2 "issues" with PC or compansions "jumping to" a new location  if you click  far away from their present location, or if your compansions lag to far behind your controlled character.  However, this has always occured regardless of OS.

I also have the Witcher installed, once again, smooth as can be and plays well.

May want to check your graphics card/drivers, tweek your visual options, etc.  It could be any number of "system" issue vs an OS issue (RAM, video card capabilities, drivers, background apps, etc)

Good luck!

I'm using 64bit and haven't had any problems so far with compatibility not with games at any rate. A few problems with Cubase SX3 which needed an upgrade but other than that its been good.

Might upgrade to 7 later in the year, sick and tired of being stuck with xp for quite some time already.

Don't know why some people complain about 7 though but does ME1 and ME2 work well with 7? Heard there were issues with ME1 and 7.

Or should i get Vindows Supreme instead? :o

Supreme is by far the most Arian of the operating systems. If you want to keep your mother(land)board pure go with supreme.

To the OP ...

I have The Witcher running fine in Win7. You need to follow a few tricks to have it install properly, there are guides around for this, check the The Witcher forum ...

As for NWN2 ... This has been a crap bug-fest since day of release. I never made it out of Chapter 2 of the OC, bought but never played MoTB, bought and played through lame SoZ... You need mods to get the AI to run properly and mods to fix all the spells and feats. Believe me, you are not missing anything except a boring story, poor implementation, and a slew of bugs. . I never bothered re-installing after switching from XP to Win7....

ME 1 and 2 run perfect here Sith :)

I think the problem was, imo, is that MS changed too many things between xp and vista, and that vista wa snot very friendly to your everyday turn pc on surf the net populace.

Once you knew how to disable most f the 'features' in vista, i never had a any issues with it, loved it in fact, was also very stable for me (but then Im a tech person lol)....you notice, very few of the popel who maoned about vista, moan about 7? weird eh, because 7 is actually not that different to vista in its structure.

But most older games will play fine in 7, and those that dont, there are easy ways to get them working, as bri said, the witcher plays wonderfully in 7 64 bit...

people in general just like scare mongering....but in honesty imo, 7 is great OS.

Well then i did build my own rig. Only problems i had is installing corrupted drivers that caused annoying BSOD's, thankfully that got resolved and i just hope that when i install 7, i don't have to go through another headache with crashes.

I only had two problems with Vista:

1 - Lexmark wouldn't support one of their printers for Vista so I had to get a new printer (not Microsoft's problem)

2 - The stupid, obstructive "security" - until I learned how to shut if off.

I was hesitant to move to 7, but now that I have it's the smoothest OS transition I've ever experienced. Zero problems - outside of the normal "have to reinstall everything / update drivers" typical stuff.

So I was pleasantly surprised.

Yes, but  never winter nights 2 on Vista ran just fine, after I instally windows 7 64bit Home adition, is when it got all choppy, not matter what area I was in, and The wierd thing is, my fps in game is fine, when I talk to people It's normal, when I go to move around It's just all choppy, character creation was fine too.

I've been trying a number of things since ( the whole run as administrator, set to compatibility for windows package 2, as well as other things listed on forums) but so far no change. I've also heard some people have troubles and others don't with this OS, wish I was on the working end! :D

Computers can be so frustrating! :crying:

I finished full ME1 playthrough last week on Windows 7 x64 Ultimate - no problems whatsoever. Had compatibility issues with only one program so far: Monkey Island 3 installer. <_<

Woo! After playing around with the msconfig, I managed to fix it! The NPCS stopped stuttering around in their movement in NWN2, wonder if I can get the other games fixed now, Muahahha!

Windows 7 is stable as hell. It is the fact that the OS is new and Bioware is still programming more for vista or XP, and not keeping in mind that a lot of peeps like myself have already moved on to the new 64 os. I play all my other games on PC with windows 7 with ease it is only DAO that I have problems with crashes, and memory leaks.
