Tali.
The fact that she was attracted to you from the start, but selflessly put her own feelings aside as she didn't want to burden you with the realities of quarian physical relationship difficulties - although some of this also stemmed from the fact that quarians are generally shunned, and she was a self-conscious about this. She's loyal to you; willing to leave the flotilla for you, and even AFTER you confess that you're interested in her too, she's still willing for you to find someone else if you need a physical relationship (so she has your best interests at heart).
Plus she's awkward in a cute way and has a hot accent
Me toooo.

Between Miranda's game of sexy oneupsmanship and Tali's fretting about whether a single kiss could put her out of commission, it's nice to know that someone on that ship gives a crap whether I live or die.
And just to note, I think the Tali romance is great and I can definitely see the appeal of Miranda, so I'm not trying to start any stuff.

Thane.
Thane treats Shepard as an equal. He doesn't burden her with his problems, telling her not to concern herself with his life expectancy and his obviously deeper issues. Only once he opens up to Shepard after she expresses friendship and further interest does he tell her of Kolyat and Irikah. And even then, he says he doesn't NEED Shepard's help, he WANTS her help.
Throughout Thane's romance we see him evolve from a shell of a man, only going through the motions for the past ten years, solitary and alone into a man who reawakens, feels, cares and begins to live again. The culimnation of the romance shows just how powerful these new feelings are for him (including those he has for Shepard), how angry he is that he should just now begin to live again when it's so near the end and just how much he doesn't want to let them go.
That and he's one helluva shot with that sniper rilfe (and a snappy dresser too)!

Now for my femsheps.
Kaiden because hes been got a got a good story to tell. Thane because hes got passion in his heart for a murderer. Garrus because hes the only one who truly was with her from the beginning and is willing to go back into hell for the second trip and jacob because he helped her get off the stations. holla holla!

Uh. On topic - Why do I like my love interest?
Tali edges out for me because she's shy and awkward and cute and smart. She's the geek girl who everyone ignores because she doesn't have Miranda's body, or Ashley's confidence or Jack's attitude.
But truly, I have playthroughs with most of the romances covered, and I pretty much like 'em all. The only one I haven't seen yet is Miranda's, and that's on my list for my next run.

Jack. The onus isn't on the physical act, but the emotion behind it. You show an interest in her and she actually ramps up the bad girl act. Keep chipping away and she'll tell you that she's acting off-putting to essentially save your life, as all the things she cares about usually wind up getting destroyed.

That sounds like she gives a crap if you live or die.

That scope. That barrel. The perfect marriage between projectile and head.

A fair point, but it's one line that's forgotten the next time you talk to her. With Jack, it's a defining motivator of her behavior towards you.
Again, to state plainly, I'm not knocking Miranda on this thread. Different strokes to move the world, after all.

Liara. She's beautiful, dedicated and loyal. She's learned, a powerful biotic, a bit socially awkward, and perhaps a little excitable. And she's an Asari. "Once you go blue, it's the only thing that'll do."
Agreed. Like the saying too.

I think Kaidan was the most realistic person, had a wonderful voice, and was totally the kind of guy who would pick you up from work and drive you home. He also probably doesn't forget important dates, but the downside is he's probably annoyingly straight-laced and completely uninterested in going out and getting trashed, or staying home and being tied up. Safe, comforting, but insanely boring at times. On the other hand, Kaidan looks like he gives hugs and flowers and ten-minute kisses.
On the other hand, there's Garrus, another great voice, wonderful person, fun, exciting, and equally likely to bail you out of jail or be standing next to you when you get arraigned. He would hold doors open for you, and cover your six in a firefight. Great physical relationship, but high risk of ending badly (gunshot wounds, life imprisonment, starship crashing into a burning sun). He wouldn't start an argument with you, but he would argue with you if he felt he was right, and also because the makeup sex would be incredible. Oh, I think I might have crossed a line there.
What was I talking about again?

1: Never says a single word to Shepard
2: Is always there for Shepard, no matter how bad the odds are.
3: Doesn't demand Shepard run errands like treason trials, stopping assassinations and other crap.
4: Never cries, EVER.
5: BOOM - HEADSHOT

Everytime I read this kind of a post...I feel I have to mention......In no way does she express any kind of attraction to you from the start. sorry but it's the truth. Delude yourself if you want but it's wrong. She is loyal I'll give you that but that's about it.Texaboose wrote...

Anyways, Jack is the best romance from ME2 but Liara is my favourite overall LI....without her she you would be in the ahnds of the collector's Shadow Broker style.

I think Tali's fantastic but she only admits her attraction AFTER her loyalty mission (like everyone else). Everything else with her (her reaction to seeing you alive, "I wish Shepard were here.." and loyalty mission dialogue) can be easily attributed to a loyal friend as well as a lover.

That's not what he said. He said she was attracted to Shep from the start, not that she showed it.
Her dialogue proves that yes, she was attracted to Shep from the start, but that no, she never showed it because of the Quarian thing, and the mask thing, and the immune system thing.
