Tali.
The fact that she was attracted to you from the start, but selflessly put her own feelings aside as she didn't want to burden you with the realities of quarian physical relationship difficulties - although some of this also stemmed from the fact that quarians are generally shunned, and she was a self-conscious about this. She's loyal to you; willing to leave the flotilla for you, and even AFTER you confess that you're interested in her too, she's still willing for you to find someone else if you need a physical relationship (so she has your best interests at heart).
Plus she's awkward in a cute way and has a hot accent
Anyways, Jack is the best romance from ME2 but Liara is my favourite overall LI....without her she you would be in the ahnds of the collector's Shadow Broker style.
That's not what he said. He said she was attracted to Shep from the start, not that she showed it.
Her dialogue proves that yes, she was attracted to Shep from the start, but that no, she never showed it because of the Quarian thing, and the mask thing, and the immune system thing.
Why do you like your love interest?

I'll agree that it's poor writing if she still develops feelings for you if you treat her like garbage but I wouldn't attribute that to fanservice. Besides, no TRUE Talimancer would treat her badly.Darht Jayder wrote...

I think Tali's fantastic but she only admits her attraction AFTER her loyalty mission (like everyone else). Everything else with her (her reaction to seeing you alive, "I wish Shepard were here.." and loyalty mission dialogue) can be easily attributed to a loyal friend as well as a lover.. ****** poor writing and blatant fan service by Bioware. But....whatever.

You can't however, I believe, present the evidence against her father and you cannot side with Legion so she won't take EVERYTHING Shepard can dish out.
Also I didn't see why Jayder jumped over the original comment about Tali loving Shep since ME1. The game states this fairly clearly, even if she doesn't show it.

Well they could've done more to incorporate your past treatment of her, but I see the value of leaving lines open to interpretation. I remember in one of the Splinter Cell games, you're given an option to shoot a guy or let him go. Regardless of what you do, Sam Fisher ends the scene with the same line, but it takes on a different meaning depending on what you did. It's efficient and effective.

well fair enough. I mean fanservice in that it her interest in shepard seemed contrived and out of the blue as far as romance is concerned. It's just my opinion though. I am sure I am going to get flamed here by Talimancers.JeanLuc761 wrote...

4: Never cries, EVER.

Yes it is in her dialogue if you pursue that road but it seemed contrived as I said and to me didn't make a lot of sense to me given her character in ME1.

This is true. I know some people read some of her more friendly interactions that way but I never did, which is why I play Shep being as Huh? when Kelly brings it up.

The ONLY thing she says that could be implied as "attraction from the start" is her line that goes:Raphael diSanto wrote...

"Shepard, I watched you tear into the Thorian like a force of nature, nothing could stop you. I saw your face as Chief Williams was killed when you left her on Virmire. I watched you stand strong against everything the galaxy threw at you and...I never imagined you'd see past this."
All that reveals is that she admires you and/or is attracted to you as she came to know Shepard during the course of Mass Effect 1. Nothing she says even hints that she was attracted to you from the start, even her dialogue at the start of Mass Effect 2.
I'm a confirmed Talimancer

Sorry, I have a thing for the awkward librarian type.
I would have left her in ME2 but after reading all she went through in Redemption and seeing the one-off explanation dialogue for her attitude change on Illium I just can't bear to abandon her.

I wasn't even talking about it as a fan of Tali. I was just trying to clear up an argument based on a misreading and misunderstanding.
Tali never shows any attraction until after the Loyalty mission (none of them do).
But she -tells- you that she was attracted from way back in ME1.
That's all I was trying to say, to clarify the point that Tex and Darht were actually arguing about completely different things.

Well, two things here - how are you definine "attracted from the start"? I don't think anyone's saying Tali fell head over heels in love with Shepard from the moment he rescued her in ME - Love doesn't work that way. You yourself said it - attracted to Shepard as she came to know him during the course of ME1, which is generally what people mean when they talk about Tali being attractted to Shepard from the start.
And...
"What could I possibly be suggesting? I mean, a young woman gets rescued by a dashing commander who lets her join his crew and then goes off to save the galaxy? How could she possibly develop any kind of interest in him?"
The interest on Tali's part most definitely started in Mass Effect 1. She didn't show it, it may not have been in the game, but that line very strongly implies that Tali had feelings for Shep in ME1, even if she never acted on them.

I see what you are saying. However, it seems really cheap. And to use that as a reason for why Tali is the best Li doesn't do it for me. There are three other characters who showed interest and attraction to Shepard from the start and they are Kaiden, Ashley, or Liara.Raphael diSanto wrote...
