Tali's romance is well writen (much better than any ME1 romance), but she feels like your little cousin that has a crush on you.

Mmm, that takes me back.  Good times.

I forgot to mention that you're supposed to read that in Zaeed's voice.

Pretty cool thread! Lots of honest answers. Okay, my two cents...

I liked Tali in ME1, though I must confess it was mostly because of her sexy accent and *those* hips. In ME2 I like the way her personality has developed. She's grown up a little bit more - still "fiesty" but with more self control and a dash of world-weariness that wasn't there before. I'm not overly keen on what they did with her body language in ME2 (in ME1 she moved and posed in a really sexy way but in ME2 she moves in a way that's more alien) but all that sort of vanished when she put her face close to Shepard's (close enough to actually make out a bit of her face under the mask) and whispered to him in that sexy voice.

However, truth be told my/Shepard's heart still belongs to Liara as she was in ME1. I can't really say why. It's not just cos she's hot. I mean, Miranda is hot yet she does nothing for me as a LI. And it's not Liara's innocent schoolgirl thing either. I think it's because in ME1 she's genuine and transparent (in a good way) and I just get the feeling that with her Shepard could have a really strong bond. Shepard is a pretty sturdy character, whether paragon or renegade, and Liara has a soft strength that seems to me to compliment him really well. In my mind, Liara is Shepard's refuge. She's the eye in the hurricane that surrounds him. Okay that went a bit gushy and more than a little cliched but that's how I see it.

Oh, and I also liked the Jack romance, though not as much. Jack and Miranda both have hard outer shells that can be broken through, but for me Jack's was by far the more intruiging and the more convincing too. Miranda will never fall in love. She might let someone get close, but she'd never let them get too close. Jack, on the other hand, has wounds that run deep, and needs that she isn't fully aware of. Only problem with Jack is that she'll always be a bit too unstable. Bad enough that Shepard has to put his life on the line in combat without him having to worry about his psycho girlfriend having a schizoid attack and knifing him in his sleep.

Edit:
I've never played as a femshep, but I watched the femshep romances on YouTube and I thought the Thane romance was quite compelling. The Garrus romance was just... odd, for me. I think of Garrus as my bro in arms. It was weird to see him acting like that with femshep. Kinda wish I'd never watched it.

My main (Male) Shepard has fallen hard for his Gunnery Chief in ME1 and cannot wait for Ash to get some shore leave...

Why? Because it takes a military person to understand and deal with the long absences, the distance, and be able to reconnect after being separated for months. Physical separation creates emotional distance, but a common military background/experience allows the couple to bridge the gap more easily. Stuff like that is not explained to you in a game, but when I put myself in Shepard's shoes, Ash is a keeper.

Plus, with Shepard no longer officially an Alliance officer, the rules against frat no longer apply. Shep and Ash can have all the PDA's (Public Displays of Affection) they want.Image IPB

I went for Tali. She is a strong woman, but she is also vulnerable and feminine. The other LIs, Miranda and Jack are not like that, and are therefore hard to like. Also, as someone mentioned before, Tali is built like a brick outhouse in an alien kind of way and that doesn’t hurt either. I can’t help, but to feel drawn to her. Kudos to the voice actor, writer, and artists who created her.

Garrus - Had I known he was an LI in ME2, I never would have gone NEAR Kaiden in ME1. (Nice enough guy, but did nothin' for me.) Luckily, I played the two games back to back, so I didn't have to wait too long for the turian. In fact, I have since reloaded my original ME1 game, partially so that I can not romance anyone, and go into ME2 free and clear for Garrus :-)

He's an adorably awkward sniping badass (he's completely smooth talking about a past lover, and then gets all flustered when the tables are turned - what's not to love?), whose style of fighting works with my sentinel Shep perfectly (I warp and whittle, he takes the kill), and (with the exception of all the damn calibrating), I love the conversations that the two have. And the little asides that he makes when we are out and about on missions are just awesome ("Remember to stay hydrated!").

Plus, he proves himself to be one damn capable solider, and (eventual) leader in his own right (Anyone can make a bad judgment call, Garrus' just had MUCH worse consequences; but he kept everyone on the Fire Team alive during the suicide mission, so I've got no complaints.) Being on equal footing makes the relationship that much better for me. The amount of growth in him between the games was damn impressive; and my little sole survivor Shep kinda can't get enough.

Oh yeah - have I mentioned the voice? *swoon*

I found Tali to be interesting, for one she represented the whole quarian race in ME1, and I just think she's adorable. That actually means quite a lot coming from me. I didn't think anyone would be able to pull off a space-gypsey, but Bioware did. I think she is one of the most well-designed character from an artistic impression, and her romance path was my favorite one. One can not deny dem hips, and I do like her voice and accent.

In ME1, Liara is the only option for me. Besides being the sexiest asari (barely beating out shiala) she has a compelling character that has the most believable lines. In ME2 Tali is the best because, ya know, who can resist that voice? Her character was really well developed too. I was kinda hoping to see under the mask though =/

Thane :wub::

- he has a very cool and intriguing attitute;

- although an assassin, he has a very spiritual side that adds some unique and complex parts to his character;

- treats Shepard like equals;

- the whole romance story seems to be evolving from both sides;

- he's a handsome alien with a great body, pretty eyes and kissable looking lips;

- and many other things.

Whoever has the Vorcha STD is my love interest! Too be serious though...it's kinda neat to carry over your ME1 love interest and have Shep looking fondly at her picture on his desk right before the final battle.

Mordin tells you that oral contact can cause hallucinations. It's unclear whether it's saliva or skin based.

I liked Miranda because she just really felt like an equal to Shepard. I liked her intelligence. I liked that she knew her own skills without taking any pleasure in them. Life was nothing but performance to her.

As femShep I liked Thane even despite the cliche dead wife/estranged son thing. For reasons that have already been listed.

Plus I think Thane has a sexy voice. He could say "The rain in Spain stays plainly in the plain" and it would sound deep and mysterious.

I made my post about the favourite LI-Characters before.
But I didn't at all talk about the looks.

I personally need a beautiful face to be attracted to a woman.
If a woman has a body designet only for me, but a face that doesn't work for me, she's not an option.
That's why, when it's about the looks, I don't really like any of the ME2 LIs.
While almost everybody seems to like mirandas face, I don't. She's not really ugly, but her jaw looks like a male one. And like that of a very manly man... So Miranda - no thanks.
Jack is not my thing either. I'm just not into bald girls. She'd probably look real lovely with a nice haircut, tho.
Tali is like a lucky bag. You just don't know. So I mostly pick the lucky bag, because I know I don't like the two other options much.
And that's why I'm not sure if I really want to see Talis face in ME3...

Why is being built like a "brick outhouse" appealing? I don't get it. You like to use Tali like shes a outhouse toilet? :D

Miranda has a big head, but a pretty one. Jack has the most beautiful face f the women in the game. Tali doesn't count because Quarian's probably have brown moss growing on their faces for all we know...and glimmering eyes!!! Not attractive at all.

Kaidan is my favourite love interest by far. He's intelligent, level-headed, has gotten over his angsty past issues, does a terrible job of hiding his attraction to Femshep and is sincerely concerned for her well being as a person. Also, he's totally hawt.

Ashley.. I can't explain why, she just made me have a big goofy smile on my face with most talks involving her. I prefer her romance than the others because it felt more natural than the others. You didn't say "I like you, let's bang!" - you moved foward, befriending her and eventually moving foward in the romance until it's conclusion. While I didn't like the whole "I HATE YOU" and email scene from ME2, it actually adds to the drama and I want to see how the romance concludes in ME3.

Though from another side..

Tali has the small "cute and innocent" look that I find appealing, I'm not a tali fanatic by any means but she's my favorite romance interest in Mass Effect 2 because of it. She's also the only one who morally objects to something you do that she dislikes, she faithfully trusts Shepard big time and the romance is really cute if you look at it from ME1 to ME2. If I jumped straight into ME2, I possibly wouldn't like her as much.

Mm. Very appearance oriented, aren't we? You miss out on some very good people that way, you know.

I'm not the same. An absolutely beautiful face with no one of interest behind it does nothing for me. They're pretty, but unstimulating.

While I would never be so pretentious as to say I'm totally unphased by ugliness, I can say that whether or not a person is attractive to me depends on who they are. Someone who I find initially unattractive can make themselves attractive to me. They can redefine beauty in my mind.

Tom Cruise is supposed to be handsome, but I find him cringeworthy. However, I wouldn't kick the lead singer of Green Day out of bed for eating crackers. And look at Adrian Brody - women are crazy about him, and he looks like Big Bird.

It doesn't look alien; it looks fake. A lot of the animations for character movement in ME2 look like the characters are being manipulated with puppet strings. I played ME1 the other day and it was apparent how much better the animations were. I don't know if they got a new team for ME2 or what. Sometimes the animations look natural, but a lot of the time it is really bad.
