For all of you that found mineral scan a PAIN IN THE ASS, and EXTREMELY BORING, just do what I did.

Use your Imagination, think the Scanner reads BIO density and not Mineral density, and Probes are missiles... and TADA

You are efectivily killing THOUSANDS with every shot.

Zomg!!! This is the single greatest idea since taking boring math word problems and replacing the words with things that grab your attention!!

(EG: The construction worker needs 2 lbs of cement mix to make 5lbs of cement how much water does he need....

turns into -

The werewolf needs 2lbs of sugar, flour and eggs to make a delicious batch of cupcakes. How much milk is needed?)

You obviously have never taken a Statistics course yet, they have rediculous word problems involved with them.

Scanning was tolerable once, on my first play-through. Now, I just edit my save-files to have max credits and resources so I don't have to go through all of that again.

"Let's force galaxy-exploration by making them scan planets for resources!"

If someone were to make a mod that replaces EDI's probe away comments with "nuclear launch detected" from starcraft and puts in a big boom with lots of screams when the probe hits, I might actually consider mining minerals again.

I haven't done any mining since the release of the gibbed savegame editor.

Because plot flags (i.e. pretty much the only thing you could f**k up) are incredibly hard to reset with the savegame editor.

Or just do what I do......don't ever again scan for minerals....just mod your saves at the beginning or each game so that you have 990,000 of each mineral and ta-daa you win. Also don't forget to mod the pesky morality bars too so you can make whatever choices you want without having to worry about not having enough points to keep team members loyal and alive......and you can mod ME1 choices you didn't like, give yourself any weapon you like as long as you have access to that class of weapon, infinite ammo for all weapons(especially heavy weapon).....and lots more. ALL possible on xbox360 without ever risking to be banned.

Right... Nice logic there kid :?

I won't be editing my savegame files, because it's cheating.
You wanna do it?  Go you.

Not really sure what the Police have to do with anything.

I hate scanning.

When I scan I just put music on, helps past the time. I also don't want to hear Tricia Helfer say "launching probe or probe launched" anymore.

So you completely fail to realize BioWare put scanning in and then tied it to your character's survival as well as to that of the crew to drag the gameplay time longer since it lacks decent side quests? Then they decided it was a good idea to make you unable to save squad members if you didn't play the entire game either as a complete paragon or renegade because you'd be lacking the necessary ammount of **** points to cool off the conflicts.

Sorry but NO. I do not accept any guilt or moral low ground for simply avoiding features designed to waste my time senselessly so NO it's not cheating.....it's common sense. The only "cheating" I see is BioWare trying to cheat players out of their time with mindless grinding and senseless restrictions.

"So yeah, we're really proud of all the features we added to Mass Effect 2.

Except scanning. No-body likes scanning.

Wish I could dig up that article.

I'm with you.

These kinds of deceptive practices are becoming more common.   I consider save-file editing to be the first step in fighting them, and decent practice.  The best way would be to outright pirate the game, but I'm not a pirate.  Yarrr.

Fight design choices you disagree with by stealing?

I don't agree with the design choice by ferrari with their newest vehicle, a good way to show em who's boss would be to steal the car from the dealer!
