Mrs. (or Ms., I'm unfamiliar with proper terminology) Norman also stated that leveling up in ME1 instantly pauses the game and takes you to the skill screen.

That made me rage slightly that's just a flat out lie you can't misremeber something that badly. You know unless your in stage three dementia.

Excuse me? You posted in that thread yourself.

Nope, still doesn’t work. Its still boring as hell. I would rather be in a room with 20 blackboards and 20 people scratching their finger nails down them that do the planet scanning.

No. They didn't implement it just for the lulz. I would be pissed if they scratch those descriptions out.

I reckon its a good idea (planet scanning that is). this new version of galatic exploration made me want to take planetary astronomy at uni (just for lulz of course:lol:)
In addition to the largely varied planets you can find (not just the cookie cutter models from ME1) you only have to scan the equator and 'one' latitude above and below the equator (i mean put your scanner one scanner width away from the equator) of every few planets to have all the resources you need. you dont need to scan the **** out of every planet you find

Seriously, planet scanning was designed as something to be done sparingly throughout your playthrough.  If you're spending more then 2-3 minutes per planet, or if you're depleting every planet you encounter, then you're doing something wrong.

The amount of resources required to get all of the upgrades is a small fraction of the available resources among all planets in the game.  Hell, I spent less than 2 hours (out of ~45 hour playthrough) depleting appx 20-30 planets (at 2-4 minutes per planet) and I had hundreds of thousands more resources than I needed.

The mechanic isn't as bad as people make it out to be.  It isn't riveting, and there is a lot of room for added dynamics that could make it much more engaging.  However, it's not a large time-sink, and it's a calm activity to do in between misssions (for short intervals).

Wow, so I'm doing it wrong because I simply enjoy the atmosphere/music etc?
Guess I have to quit playing this game, when I'm doing it "wrong".

If you enjoy the scanning, then of course not.

I'm addressing the people who say that they absolutely hate the scanning and think it's the worst thing in the world because they spent SO MUCH TIME doing it depleting as many planets as they could or whatever.

If you're finding yourself getting bored with scanning, then you're likely spending too much time doing it, and should spread it out between shorter sessions.

The ones that hate scanning either edit their saves or already use the sparatic scanning methods mentioned.
Unnecessary advice, is unnecessary.

Planet scanning is actually a nice break form the now intense action of ME. but yeah, its not time consuming in the slightest so long as you think about it

I wasn't aware that there are any necessary posts, unless you name has BIOWARE under it.
Thank you, thank you.

Thinking of responses for this forum is one way to make the tedium of planet scanning seem less, tedius.

Excuse me while I do my happy dance.

Bored of scanning? This is the perfect song to put on while you are scanning those boring planets.

Works like a charm.
