I might buy it for $20, it's definitely not worth the retail price of $40 though. That's only a few bucks less than Origins goes for...

(Seriously, $40 for a pizza dinner for 2? That's insane. I'd expect to pay that much at a steak house for 2 but pizza??)

What kind of stringy half dead cow are they serving you at that steak house? I doubt you can go to Steak and Ale for $40.

Are you sure this isn't a joke? If not may I ask why? Because I'm sure Bioware/EA wouldn't mind you mailing them $60, both have adresses on their main site, go ahead mail them the difference. They can go eat at one of them fancy pizza places I keep hearing about.

Wow, who spends $40 bucks at a pizza joint? My favorite pizza buffet is like $3.99 per person (all you can eat: salad, dessert, and water included). Wow, if you spend that much just on pizza, I would hate to have your opinion on finances...

So, since some people actually prefer to spend a bit more on a quality product instead of going to some cheap buffet joint that serves crap food it is somehow indictative of their finances?

I would much rather spend extra on food made with quality fresh ingredients than eat the garbage served up in buffet joints.

Okay, the pizza at a buffet joint isn't garbage, man. I mean I just see no point in spending all that money on "quality" which is actually the same crap as the $3 pizza. Also, I'm not the only one who disagrees that $40 for pizza is way too expensive. There's quality, and then there is being a sucker.

do you tip waiters?  here, its  the same with delivery (to an extent).. we tip delivery here because without the tips they would make close or below minimum wage.. so they require tips to make a decent income.. that being said, i generally dont tip more than $2, unlike with a waiter/waitress.. ill tip 20% of the bill usually.

i dont know where you live.. but for me.. $10 is the MINIMUM i pay for a large pizza and thats with a single topping.. if i want more than just pepperoni i usually spend $15 sometimes $20 for the pizza..

now if i get that to go.. then i spent my $15 and thats it..

but if i eat in with family or whatev.. its usually a $2 beverage (or maybe a beer which can get as high as $7 a piece).. then you factor tax, tip and the fact you may have have more than one person.. there is your $40.. i dont know how clearer i can state that lol..

I lean towards not thinking the pizza versus game is a valid comparison. I blow money in all kinds of strange ways and pinch pennies like grandma in others.

In these threads I always repeat myself - I am willing to pay more money for the games - the real deal -- like the basically full priced I paid on amazon for the CE for Origins -- just shy of $70 I think. In other words, I am willing to pay "console" prices for my PC games if I can get good quality games like DAO.

At $40 the expansion is not worth it. I haven't seen it cheaper (although I haven't looked very hard). But I do want to get my hands on the expansion at some point.

Back to pizza - I have taken lately to buying the frozen ones and then adding a boatload of toppings at home. $6 plus pepporcinis and viola, dinner for 2. (BTW I used to make and hand throw the dough as a cook and also worked as a driver in one of those family run joints. Good times. We appreciated those $2 tips!)

Thanks for the link. I am even more glad i'm gonna wait now because maybe by the time the price drops it'll have these "disappearing equipment and uncompleteable quests glitches fixed

Also that last statement made me bust out laughing.

I dunno..this is my third play-thru of Awakening, still averaging about 20 hours or so each time. I'd say its worth my money, but then again..I tend to play more than once. :) I have many more characters to run through, we'll see ...I am noticing, even as careful as I am..I am STILL missing certain things along the way. lol Same thing happens with Origins.

Also with the bugs..I play on PC,  I note that some bugs,  like a quest npc with the sign over his head, indicating you can talk to him...I found that if I can't talk to him right now, its best to go off and do some other quest,  then reenter Vigil's Keep.    Then it seems the npc is accessible.   Now I don't know for sure, but maybe these quests are some how set up in a certain way, that is..if you don't do certain things before hand,  even if the npc is indicating you can talk to him,  you might not be able to at that time.

For the Silverite mines bug,   I am on my third run-through have done it three times, without ever ending up with my gear missing..  I am not sure what I am doing right?  lol

I just make sure that if I am in Wending Woods doing all the other quests for there, that my end result is,   I head for the Silverite Mines.    It seems to be what is required to stop the quest npcs from bugging out at Vigil's Keep too.

Although..if that is the case, it shouldn't be programmed that way, you "should" be able to do those quests in any kind of order and not have these problems.

Other thing I note, is ..if some npc is "bugging" out, sometimes it helps to save, exit the game come back and reload and Voila...the problem is gone.

By the way for reference for a poster above me..the expression is  Voila!   not viola.    Viola is a musical instrument..   Voila...in French means   "There it is!"   hehe

At thirty I'll buy. It's probably the only game i have played this much and it will no doubt be worth it at 30 bucks.

One last thing. Without telling what they are/do, Are the new specializations/spells Great,Good,OK,Suckish, or just Stupid?

I paid like 20USD to see Avatar in 3D. I paid what it would be 40USD for Awakening. It is definitely worth it. I'd rather spend more money on a video game that I like than having 10 extra bucks to spend on coffee.

There is so much work involved in developing such a product, even if far from perfect, and the first measure of appreciation for this work that you can give is by buying the game at full price.

I have my complains regarding DA: A, but certainly not the price.

I doubt you can get out of those places for under $40 either. If you're drinking, forget about it.

Heck, my wife and I went to breakfast this morning and it was $35 with tip.

There's also laws going into legislation here that will force people to tip, seriously.

I'd love to see how they're forcing that through. I'm not hot on American law but under British law they'd have to label tips put onto every combo of items if the tips were mandatory.

The price is too high at $40.00 US dollars. It's 29.00 euros at amazon.de right now, and I'll wait a bit longer. I'm in no rush, especially with hearing about all the bugs the newest patch introduced. The game is already making an appearance on e-bay with much more acceptable prices, but I still rather wait until the bugs are resolved.

As for pizza, a few friends an I (4 people) went to our favorite Italian (yes, he's from Italy) place last night. Toni prides himself for his hand-made, fresh ingredients topped pizza. We had two large ones with several toppings and a caraffe of chianti. The bill for the four of us came to around 32 euros, which is about $ 42.00. We gave Toni a 4 euro tip. So, the dinner for two would rattle in at about $ 25.00, and I can only highly recommend my favorite Italian joint.

I just got Awakening off EA site for $20. There is a $20 off $40 coupon available for ordering via EA online store right now. It works fine with Steam version of DAO.

Good lord, has no one heard of not having drinks with your dinner? Talk about bloating your bill. What a waste of money. I'll just have some iced tea, thanks.

Well I look at it this way, on PSN I can buy...

FF7

FF8

FF9 (Yes its comming to PSN)

for £34 which is £2 more than awakening BUT I get around 300 hours of game out of it.

For Awakening I get 20 hours most, and from what my friends say its not worth £32 so i'm gonna wait.

PS: Everyone remember to contact WatchDog on the website to let them know about the pricing if you havn't already. The more they get the more likley they are to question Ea for us.

I paid £14.93/$22.27 for Dragon Age Awakenings preordered, on the day of release in the UK (pc), Game are selling it for £14.99, whereas Walmart are selling it for $39.96, seems for once the UK got a better deal. Normally we get fiddled in the pricing system (see microsoft for example). So it definately pays to shop around...

The only bugs i suffered so far, seem to happen just before several major battles, but it saves anyway, so I can overlook that, at least till they patch it. It will crash upon a major battle encounter, but only seems to be inside certain areas that do it. Otherwise it runs without a hitch.

What I can not overlook is:

Forgot about this, so I added it, every now and again moving a spell around on the toolbar will cause it to get stuck on top of the toolbar itself, you cant remove it, you have to save and exit the game to correct the error.

The horrendous arcane shield/fade shield effect in all the cut scene/conversations, which makes me want to throw up, as the screen ripples constantly. Please fix this!

The really big battles, suddenly end so undramatically, I had to check my quest log to make sure I had even finished the quest. (deep roads etc, vigils keep basements). I was half expecting to drop the concrete block onto one of them dark spawn breeders and find a way down to battle the others. The dull splat completely ruined that part of the quest. Same issues with the deep roads, and that pesky wraith that ran away, and to my recall got locked behind unopenable doors, thus ending the quest with no sense of satisfaction.

There also appeared to be ability/spells missing off the tactic list, and stamina potions cant be used like the lyrium/heal potions, unless you manually add them.

You added some beautiful locations, (Smugglers Cove, Forlorn Cove?), that are completely underused, yet could have been a location/quest series all their own. I guess for the first time im thinking bioware is under too much pressure to deliver their usual deep quality style of game play.

Anders might as well be Alistairs twin, hes sarcastic and annoying, and looks like him too, whose idea was that?

I keep seeing Leilana reused skins everywhere (vigils keep), yet so far no contact at all with her.

Wynne wasnt exactly the friendliest of people to meet, rather abrupt considering what the group went through last time...

I am 10 days into DAA, 17 hours of playtime (no cheats), if you fixed these errors, it was worth every penny, at least to me...

40 dollars is excessive for an expansion pack of this 'caliber' no questions asked. 20 dollars is a fair asking price for the expansion however and yesterday I bought it for this amount.

There is a promo code from PAX floating around that gives you 20 dollars off a product at the EA online store. I used it on DA Awakening and poof the game was 20 dollars. For a half-assed game I paid half the price. I think that's fair.

Actually here's the promo code for anyone interested in buying the game at the price it should have been originally. PAXEAST842, put that in when it asks you for it at the checkout.
